Ok when i try to download my antivirus definitions to the programfiles where my antivirus is and where the viruslist goes, i get an unhandled exception it says:

Could not complete operation since a file already exists in this path 'C:\ProgramFiles\Safe Lock Antivirus'.

so how would i fix this so my definition updates will go in that folder without an exception. Because my antivirus has to be released soon. I'd be grateful for some help.

sorry for the late reply, i don't code vb.net anymore. But it looks to me that the file exists so you need to do a check for that file, delete if it exists and re-download the new file. ie 2:30 of the video.

must be if MyVer < lastver

otherwise if you have any version of the program example my program version is 4 and the update on the website is 3 you will get the Update available and the program will start download the old version.

no, MyVer and lastver have to be exactly the same otherwise it will trigger an update, reguardles if the version is higher or lower.. this means that no matter what clients are running the most current version

I followed you tut and well I really want need this to work, I followed exact instructions but when I start My Program it says unhandled exception, it says the remote server returned an error.... I imagine that my server wont let it download anything. I set permissions to both files to 777, but even when i goto either file in my web browser it just shows a blank page it dont download it. Any Ideas to get this to work? Thanks Very Much!!!!

So, OTHER people on OTHER computers can download the update I added AFTER I let them download the first version? Or do I need to make the newest version before I launch the first version? (cuz thats pointless)

Once you add this feature then your program will be able to update as long as u leave the feature in ur program.
