He finally gets help with Drexler in '95 and the Rockets were sixth seed. He gets MORE HELP with Barkley and Drexler in '96 and they got swept and squashed in the second round by Shawn Kemp, whose career is no different than Sampsons. Face it, Hakeem is the most OVERRATED center in history. He is fifth or sixth at best, face it.

Forget about Shaq Hakeem Olajwon was the most dominant Center during his career. No other Center in the NBA was as dominant on both sides of the ball then Hakeem, or could dominate the Boards like Hakeem or had less to work with as far as talent around him yet led the Rockets to back to back NBA Championships in the mid 1990's. Until the Rockets picked up Clyde Drexler in the mid 1990's, Hakeem wasn't able to play with another great player. He was the man pure & simple on the Rockets.

But players like Dream, Jordan, Bird, Magic, Wilkins, etc. Had so many great plays you would literally have to show every play of their career to really get how good they are. It is thousands of Dreams plays not on highlights. Same with Jordan, Kobe etc. That's why I can't tell anybody who watched all if Jordan's games about Jordan. Top's in blocks all time....Best post game i ever seen....Played in the 80's and 90's against all the great centers....Ring in 94 with no other all star on the team and went back to back on Shaq but still he doesn't get the credit he deserves. Hakeems role players were stacked his whole career. Hakeem should've won more championships if he was so great. If anything, it was Shaq, Kareem and Bill Russell who accomplished more with less.

@irishpanic Facts don't lie, Hakeem had plenty of help. And Sampson's no bust, HE WAS A THREE TIME ALL-STAR CENTER. With Sampson in 86 the Rockets came up short. He finally gets help with Drexler in '95 and the Rockets were sixth seed. He gets MORE HELP with Barkley and Drexler in '96 and they got swept and squashed in the second round by Shawn Kemp, whose career is no different than Sampsons. Face it, Hakeem is the most OVERRATED center in history. He is fifth or sixth at best, face it.

Hakeem played 18, and Shaq is in 18, so anything is possible. Point and rings should be the first measures to evaluate greatness. If those are a tie, then look at rebounds, assists. Shaq either ties/beats Hakeem in those four criteria. Hakeem beats Shaq in ONE Center Criteria, Blocks. Crap.

Forget about Shaq Hakeem Olajwon was the most dominant Center during his career. No other Center in the NBA was as dominant on both sides of the ball then Hakeem, or could dominate the Boards like Hakeem or had less to work with as far as talent around him yet led the Rockets to back to back NBA Championships in the mid 1990's. Until the Rockets picked up Clyde Drexler in the mid 1990's, Hakeem wasn't able to play with another great player. He was the man pure & simple on the Rockets.

AND they won with two different franchises. Dream is great, but to say that he is better than them is to say Kobe is better than Jordan just because of a feeling. Besides, Hakeem had one of the most complete teams around him because every player on his teams in the early 90's played hard and played to win. They made very smart plays.

Well, Russell won 9 titles and was a very complete player while doing. I think he payed smarter than Hakem, though Hakem was plenty smart. Of course, it is hard to say if Russell could compete with Hakem during Hakem's era, but that's impossible to determine. So, I'll give Russell the benefit of the doubt.
