@lablask No jammer can jam a good AESA radar. There are too many frequencies operating simultaneously over too wide a band. Also, these frequencies are changing 1000 times per second. You can jam some of the signals some of the time, but certainly not all of them all the time. Given the Su-30's huge size and design characteristics, it is a sitting duck for BVR missiles from a stealthy aircraft.

F-22 sustained turn rate is 28 degree per second vs 25 for the Eurofighter, 22 for the Su-30MKI and 21 for a Mig-29. Nothing can turn with a Raptor. Euro is very close at low level and low speed. Supersonic nothing can touch a Raptor.

It's a good idea, but the long-term survivability of the aircraft means nothing if the Raptor pilot cannot maneuver tightly enough to survive a turning fight. Stress on an airframe can be repaired at least partially, but failing meet the F-22's maximum turning potential can cost an aircraft and pilot their lives.

The serbians didn't pick up the F-111 on the Radar. They simply saw it because it was fliyng low. But it is a fact that stealth in no longer undetectable and right now Russia, India, China and the United States are selling AESA Radras which can break Stealth to smaller countries.

The second problem or blessing is the short guidance time for AIM120, especially when your target has supercruise and IRST, It is fine with F-22 as their high sustained speed can choose to enter or leave the engagement, to provide mid course guidance

I'd say it would be plausible and understandable that any aircraft hit by a missile would be taken out, unless it skimmed the aircraft and didn't explode. Either way, as much as I'd hope in real life the B-1R that got hit would survive, it almost definitely wouldn't considering the missile had a direct hit.

@lablask No jammer can jam a good AESA radar. There are too many frequencies operating simultaneously over too wide a band. Also, these frequencies are changing 1000 times per second. You can jam some of the signals some of the time, but certainly not all of them all the time. Given the Su-30's huge size and design characteristics, it is a sitting duck for BVR missiles from a stealthy aircraft.

F-22 sustained turn rate is 28 degree per second vs 25 for the Eurofighter, 22 for the Su-30MKI and 21 for a Mig-29. Nothing can turn with a Raptor. Euro is very close at low level and low speed. Supersonic nothing can touch a Raptor.

It's a good idea, but the long-term survivability of the aircraft means nothing if the Raptor pilot cannot maneuver tightly enough to survive a turning fight. Stress on an airframe can be repaired at least partially, but failing meet the F-22's maximum turning potential can cost an aircraft and pilot their lives.

this is pure bollocks!. 1st,...enemy aircraft would not be flying together in huge formations, but in pairs or fours. 2nd,...B1R radar will be able to guide up to 20 amraams until they are able to lock for themselves???. 3rd,...enemy aircraft will be able to AT LEAST use RWR to detect general direction of the attackers,...if not range. At least some aircraft will get to dogfight with the raptors. BTW,...enemy don't have any ECM?. And,...f22 gets detected by radar,...although at shorter ranges.

AMRAAM Pk is at best 50% against cold war legacy jets, by which ever means DRFM, radio white noise, chaff and maneuver, just to degrade the remaining 50% Pk to 25%, 6 AMRAAM would result in only 1.5 kills, I wish not to continue this argument, but this "documentary" is like a scripted play by the USAF

@N1cholas240 For the fighter to remains in the battle for the need to provide mid course guidance is the problem especially for F-35.that's what I meant for "lingering in the engagement". The "enemy" seems very co-operatives, and almost dumb, there were no supporting from ground or AWAC, no IRST to detect missile incoming, no jamming equipment or chaff, no attempt to evade, or to launch counter missile volley, no attempt to close in to the US supporting aircraft.

@N1cholas240 But For F-35 which lacks speed, agility and rear aspect stealth, lingering in the engagement is deadly for the pilot to risk getting into IR detection range or turn its non stealthy and hot rear aspect to the enemy while can't out run it.

Having trouble uploading URL in youtube, can't seem to get around it. Any way, the DRFM is automated, unless by chance the AIM-120 radar beam did't illuminated the sensor, 15 sec is plenty for computer to work and electromagnetic wave to travel. The second problem or blessing is the short guidance time for AIM120, especially when your target has supercruise and IRST, It is fine with F-22 as their high sustained speed can choose to enter or leave the engagement, to provide mid course guidance

the fact they call it future dogfights all well and good, the battle is taking place in 2016, all good so far, but the USAF of course are using a combination of missles and aircraft B1R that dont even exist yet, fine ok they exist in 2016 but what, the enemy force hasnt had any development at all since the cold war? Come on the f-22 raptor is a great jet and so is the B1, n the enemy forces jets rafale, bt huge problems with the comparison, how about more realistic enemy force for 2016 like USAF

@subzerostorm That's probably an unrealistically HIGH level of Tech for the USAF to face.
In this vid they get as far as projecting the Berkut,but noPAKFA.So force is as real as possible.One may complain about the depiction as unrealistic because these planes are undeployed (B1R) a shitload of other US Air to Air Power and Drone Coordination from fighters and JSFs..happening right now.2015 the PAKFA will start...if everything goes to plan! Lol. Where will Russia get advanced composite metals?

@N1cholas240 DRFM is designed to produce a coherent representation of the original radar signal, the purpose of DRFM design is to defeat monopulsic radar; i e. it digitally record and incoming signal. Bare in mind that the maximun range of BVR missile are for the incoming, non-maneuvering target, B-1R is the later, AIM120D's 72KM vs current non-RAM rocket R77's 60KM would be mitigated by the Su35/Su30's ability to evade by maneuver.

I'd say it would be plausible and understandable that any aircraft hit by a missile would be taken out, unless it skimmed the aircraft and didn't explode. Either way, as much as I'd hope in real life the B-1R that got hit would survive, it almost definitely wouldn't considering the missile had a direct hit.

During the Vietnam War large subsonic bombers like the B-52 were easily brought down by Soviet built SAMs. Moreover, a supersonic plane that has suffered battle damage will have a very hard time flying fast. I find this program's depiction of a B-1R surviving an air to air missile hit to be ridiculous and incredible.

well these guys forgot that when ever a fighter uses a radar, it gives away its position to the enemy aircraft, even if its stealth. Radiation missiles can homein on them with ease.
Also SU 30 MKI and Rafale are armed with Missiles that are capable of Air to Aircraft and Air to Missile Role. Those missiles will be shot down even before they get any where close to them.
Cant begin tell how much to under estimate and downgrade the European and Russian Fighters.

Radar emit are considered to be very low % of detection. Ones used for targeting are the only vulnerable ones, and they switch on in a low detection phasing of frequencies as well. This is an element that is fully considered to be part of the F22 Stealth Package...a so-called requirement of 5 Gen Aircraft. It's turbulence may be detected by new sensors.1 may be able to do something with that.Its a good idea but not good for targetting. Spcs classified, but enough info is out4 you 2 know this.

@TheHeavypanzer and you dont understand AESA radar, anti radaiation missiles are great for slow moving targets like ships or SAMS sites, but they are unproven against fast jets, AESA radar are almost impossible to lock onto due to the fact that the frequency is constantly changing with every pulse.

@TheSwekebab Some military analysts including one USAF general said that the Rafale and the Eurofighter Typhoon are equal to the Raptor in a close-in within visual range dogfight where stealth is not a factor. Personally, if I was an accomplished fighter jock I would not want to tangle with a Raptor in anything other than a Federation Starship.
