  • You can tell he's a good fiddler - he plays Scottish tunes in his repertoire. :-) This is a great posting too

  • @UISTMAN59 LOL, funny, Iain! :) But a great fiddler he is indeed!

  • da iawn chwarae teg :-)

  • maureen, thanks for the message! .....Have bought the cd, too....am leaving it till later so I can really enjoy it..... is inspiring me in my own very amateur music making, or, rather 'stumbling'!....cf. facebook...... dea-ghui!

  • This is incredibly sensitively played.....without the mad rush of some playing of our music. Gura mil maith agaibh : )))))) xxx

  • @mikeravey1 I agree. Eugene is a very sensitive player and his dance music is played with the experience of an Irish dancer...he was a champion dancer .

  • This is very good slip jig music! thanks! ive come way to accustom to my practice cd and needed something new to dance too!

  • I can finally practice my slip jig with pretty matching music,Thank you for posting this!!

  • @natali601 Eugene's music is soo good to dance to ...probably because he was an Irish dancer himself (some time ago) and his rythyms are perfect.

  • Hails from Canada. Lady Ireland for life!

  • more people in america claim to be irish than the entire population of ireland

  • @Streetisourocean that is because there is more folks of Irish heritage in America than all of Ireland.

  • im only a quarter irish and the rest im jamacian & irish dancin is my complete passion i love it! x

  • that's funny im irish and i have a quater of jamacian in my pocket!!!

  • God such a beutifull music! Irish is the heaven on earth!i love irland...

    REPECT FROM ROMANIA!

  • this is soo good i made my own dance

  • I'm half irish

  • my daughter learning violin,, thuis brill

  • thank you so much for posting this! Now i finally have a song to practice my slip jig to =)

  • Enjoy your dancing.

  • maybe it's easy for you because you're a novice. For a beginner it can be very confusing.

  • Sweet!

  • i love this song it reminds me of when i used to irish dance! irish music is classic, i listen to it everyday on my ipod!

  • I love it too and I don't believe there is anyone who can play Irish dance music like Eugene....maybe because he was a champion Irish dancer himself. is playing does something to my soul...

  • it might be for you but not for her/him so just keep your gob shut and stop critizing

  • I just started learning the slip jig in class. Its so confusing. LOL.

  • Just keep trying!

I thought it was confusing at first too!

    Have fun!

  • i wish my school taught rish jigs.

  • really, when i learned it, i found it one of the easiest dances..but, we're different people, so that means different oppinions..

  • Great violin!!!

  • years ago, someone gave me a tape copy of E.O'D. playing The Downfall of Paris in a slower tempo than the CD version. Really enjoyed it, wonder if its around....

  • I have this cd and my favourite track is his beautiful rendition of the Stephen Foster song "Gentle Annie"(track 10)This would be a be a nice one to post, maureenderry.

  • I shall get to work on that shortly...moving house at the moment and it will be a while before I get back to normal.

  • im really feelin this.

it puts me in such a better mood after i get off work. after a rough day. this just relaxes my mind and soul.

  • i dance and i dont allows have my hair curlyed not to be mean be i am already tan!

  • You are one of the lucky people....don't be bored...find something or someone to help!

  • ok i dont understand what u mean

  • I read your comment on your channel that you were bored...all I am saying is that you should get involved with helping others through a charity or something lake that...then you won't have time to be bored.Of course I have felt bored myself at times so I shouldn't be passing on advice to anyone. Take care!

  • ooo it wont let me change the messgae. You know alot of people who make movies dont comment back but u do thanks. I donated 30 dollars to kids in africa. $5 to a guy in my skool (7 grade) and i work at a nursying home since my grandma there for cancer so i try to do my best in theis world. what about u?

  • thanks for making this song for my slow slip jig

  • ugh i am soo pale. i hate it. i look like your typical irish person. reddish hair blue green eyes pale skin and a bit of freckles

  • Nothing wrong with reddish hair blue green eyes and pale skin and freckles!!

  • nope!!! but i hate being so pale

  • i tan easy just couldn't be bothered

  • I agree, nothing wrong with that.

I went and dyed my hair bright red, coz my mum said that her family (the Irish half) had bright red hair, and I just liked the though of having bright, flaming, red hair. lol

  • As am I. I'm a champion dancer and I haven't given into the tan and silly new wigs. I wear a bun cover and tights and it hasn't hurt me at all. I think it's getting a bit ridiculous honestly. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way.

  • I know what you mean but right now I am put off by the wigs, tans and big skirts...like Christmas trees I am afraid. With all the girls wearing wigs there is no indivuality..they all look the same.

  • exactly. its also the music and the dances. they are making them more like a dance routine. haa

  • i so agree

  • it used to be about the culture and dance but now it is baout the way the girls look. in my opinion it is getting as bad as beauty pagents.

  • I actually said the same thing this week ...like a beauty pagent...I think it is very sad.

  • hi I love this tune it's beautiful. slip jigs too. I'm an irish dancer not young I'm afraid. I had no way of growing up with ID but have involved myself and my daughter in our irish roots now. I agree with what you say about dance right now, we unfortunately have to look like that to stay competitive(feisanna is all we have) but I have loved the traditional bits forever those of us who know, keep it in our hearts even if it has become more pageant like. this music makes us remember

    thanks

  • lovely music.

  • Eugene O'Donnell is fabulous. It's nice to hear the music played on fiddle. Lovely slipjig tunes.

  • I think i will play this on thanksgiving...or christmas...or something...OR EVERYDAY!!! ITS GOOD THAT I LISTENED TO IT 5 TIMES A DAY!!! me gone cookoo

  • Yes...I love it and play it often. Eugene is the best fiddle player of Irish Dancing music that I know. Thanks for your comment.

  • Thanks Maureen! I love this!! 5 Stars!! Hope you had a wonderful holiday season!!

    =)

  • I adore this! Fabulous job. I was wondering if you could produce a hornpipe (slow, if you're familiar with the Irish dance world). I'm in need of a hornpipe I love to practice to so that I can enjoy my practices before the Worlds in March. Thank you and beautifully done.

  • I just listened to this twice I liked it so much. This kind of music is very agreeable with me. Thank you for posting.

  • Thanks Bill. This music brings back so much of my childhood. I feel exhilerated and sad. Eugene was a Champion Irish dancer and therefore has great insight in his playing of Irish dance music.

  • he was? im an irish dancer but not yet a champion

  • I was an Irish dancer myself (quite a while ago). The slipjig was my favourite dance..I love the rythym and elegance of the slipjig. Best wishes, Maureen

  • i dont think i could pick my favourite.

    ~Rónán

  • So relaxing...just what I needed after Christmas. You can just feel the stress slipping away with each tap of the toe :)

  • This is great music.

  • Oh! the memories this music brings to me. I was an Irish dancer until I was about 18 and this music recreates the tension, nervousness and excitement of dancing on stage. Our house stopped functioning normally during the week of Feis Doire Colmcille (the Local Irish festival of Dance and music) for four of my sisters were also Irish dancers....those were the days! The slipjig was danced in soft shoes and was only done by girls and I believe it is still the same.
