i lost my german shepherd max two years ago. he had hip problems aswell so we put carpet on the stairs to help him go up and down. he ended up passing with complications in his stomach. he was a rescue doggie... found on the street. dont even know how old he was, but he was a damn fine dog. i can tell yours is too and that you love him. i use to take mine to the beach, he loved the water. which beach/state area are you at? i wish i only had a video to share and remember.
