I wouldn't say it necessarily has anything to do with him being black.

If anyone is a Pope fan, then you would know from several interviews, and from the ASK Elijah forum on his website that Pope grew up idolizing Dusty Rhodes and Ric Flair; That obviously shows in his promo's. NOT HOGAN, OR SUPERSTAR BILLY GRAHAM. And for crying out loud, the ONLY thing remotely simliar to THE ROCK is Pope speaking in 3rd Person which again was done by Ric Flair and Dusty before Rock was even thought of. Just appreciate the fact that Pope is THE SUPERSTAR that wrestling so need!
