Saw Joe last night live in Balto. Blew the house out, people were flippin out. Hes so ultra cool, the guys just raw great talent. If he comes to your town, try to hit it, you will be blown away. Played 7 different guitars, killed each one and never broke a sweat. Love this guy so much. You listen and you watch and you just know hes pure natural soul.
This is proof to me that music is a pure and scandalous hustle. How come I never hear of this guy except in a Ernie Ball guitar strings ad at a on-line music store? So I search his name and boom I'm blown away right here right now baby.
This guy is a friggin' gawd! If Led Zeppelin did this tune it would be on Classic Rock radio right now I assure you.
I've been waiting a long time for someone who can do the following:
1. Lay down rock, rock blues and blues tunes that will have you picking your jaw up off the floor. 2. Absolutely rip apart the fretboard by applying multilple techniques and blazing chops (this guy is NOT a one trick pony) from song to song and even within a song. 3. Have a voice that supports his guitar work AND can sing within the framework of multiple styles (rock, blues, rock blues etc..). JOE BONAMASSA is the REAL DEAL!!!
thats a gibson custom shop bonamassa les paul but not shure what the color is somewhere towards the end you can pause it and see his name on the truss rod cover
So I hear Blackest Night as a lyric, I'm like "Oh Cool, that reminds me of the Green Lantern". Then I see the drummer wearing a Green Lantern shirt. MY FACE.
okay bold statement here we go: I think Joe Bonamassa is the best blues player out there today. there are many others who are awesome, but Joe Bonamassa just had this amazing tone and articulate playing its unbelievable!
@LedZeppelinisgod100 he's like mayer except he's not a douchebag, he writes proper blues songs, is a nice guy, doesn't attempt stand-up comedy when he is a musician and plays guitar like the devil
@BlackDiamond351 exactly. i dont know where mayer got the idea he can be a dick just because he knows a few cliche blues licks. Bonamassa could play circles around and sound better than Mayer with a few fingers restrained, at 3 am after a night of heavy drinking, a squier telecaster and a 10w amplifer from target.
@LedZeppelinisgod100 yeah, well joe is one of the best guitar players of all time in my opinion because he just has such a vast knowledge of the instrument, the theory and he has a huge library of licks. john mayer is a hollywood douchebag.
@BlackDiamond351 and takes from so many other players' styles to create one that is very uniquely his own. sure, everyone says oh hes a copy of Eric Johnson, but screw them. sure he has licks similar to him, but is nowhere near a copy of him. after ive started listening to him over the past year or so, im convinced he's up there with the legends. also, ive been super influenced by his playing. some of his licks are just to damn tasty. :D
I listen to a lot of blues players and singers, but mostly to this hot slick, for he is as hot as they come. Joe is truly master of the blues. The boy sings tremendously, and just seems to be infused with endless licks to lala land you into another world. Check out his : SLOW GIN, played in Tel Aviv, Israel. He blew their living minds away. Look all you want to folks, but this boy is the best, they come no better. When he was 12 years old, he played better then than most do today. GREAT.
Joe has always been great I saw him when he was 16 and he was incredible.he is so relaxed now, and his playing shows it. Even when he is wailing there is space between the notes....nothing sounds overplayed, just right on! awesome!
@Brickma227 as far as im concerned, Kenny wayne(and most other white blues/ rock guitarists, with the the exception of joe bonamassa) just do all they can to sound as much like Stevie Ray Vaughan as they can...
I know Joe uses a lot of defferent effects and amps in his live shows. Iv'e seen him live a few times. But for this show he just has the amp , tubescreamer and guitar. Very nice indeed. Sometimes it is nice to hear just that instead of all the different effects. He even mentioned it on facebook he was going light for the show.
@gavins15 What about SRV? Joe is not SRV He is Joe Bonamassa! SRV is dead get over it. He was and is a legend but you don't have to compare every freaking blues guitarist to him!
@soulpatch29 Ha, you might want to type in "Joe Bonamassa amps pedals and equipment" in the search bar. You might be surprised to see he uses a little more than just a tube screamer.
The voice being a bit off is one of the great gifts of live performing. I would muchj rather hear it this way then loisten to some one try to lipsync to an overdubbed, over engineered recording
Joe probably didn't even get a chance to let his vocals recover from the gig the night before. He just sounds a little fatigued vocally, still way better than what I would ever do at my best hour of the day, lol. Rock on Joe! ;-)
The guy is stuck in a studio booth without his usual rig and wearing headphones to play live - you never get a decent "feel" with that kind of set up - give him a break - it sounds OK for a TV show.
This is great... What's with all the negative comments? His guitar sounds in tune, and he had a sinus infection a week prior to this... so stop whining.
I don't think it's bad at all. I was listening to Bob & Tom that morning. He played some other stuff and it sounded great. I mean, he would KNOW if his guitar was outta tune! Maybe the mix isn't the best, but I wouldn't be ashamed of this performance or anything. Ya just can't please some people.
One of my fav tracks
