We only do it, because it's easier to tell what we're talking about, so we wouldn't need to say, "hey, do you like music that is played heavily with an electrical guitar? You know, music that 30STM and some others perform". But music is actually more like a spectrum of light. And music may not be based on emotions but it affects emotions at all cases. That's how our brains react to music.

Pop in and of itself isn't one genre of music, but I could accept it if you used the word Pop as a general classification. Generally speaking, Pop encompasses a wide variety of styles, such as electronic, raggae, R&B and soul. Finally, rap. Technically speaking, it is one genre of music, but there are several sub-genres of rap.
