  • I loved this book and the movie wasn't bad either. If you like legal thrillers you should definitely check out Puncture with Chris Evans, it's an awesome movie. ww w . youtube . com /watch?v=jbaTN0Pc6bQ

  • loved this book

  • @0:41, trying to get poor Tommy addicted to the illegal tobacco drug!

  • Everybody runs.

  • @harliette: Grisham's book "The Pelican Brief" has a female lead named Darby Shaw.

  • Ahah, Tom Cruise you're awesome

  • nobody has ever left us nobody

  • Cruise runs like that in every movie of his

  • Look up some videos on GANG STALKING which appears to be based on some concepts from this movie.

  • I just read the book. Nice thriller. The movie seems to go his own way

  • @PacitoPC

I've seen the movie more than once and have the book lying around in my house but haven't had the time to read it. Is it worth it? I'm sure it is, i am just wondering...

  • @suny123boy1 I liked the book!

  • Theze days I usually don't question Grisham. Has he ever written a book with a female lead?

  • I have to read the book for my English class. We're also gonna watch the . I really want to see it.

  • This film had one of the best soundtracks ever!

  • Decent movie. It's best feature is showing how good Brimley can be as a villain.

  • the gun sound = pew pew

  • In the book, his BMW was featured PROMINENTLY, why does he drive a Mercedes in the movie? Also, Abby McDeere is so ugly in this movie, poor casting. My imagination of her description was that she was hot.

  • I just finished the book, an excellent read, John Grisham is amazing. I've read some of his more recent stuff (Ford County Stories is really good) among others but went back to his most critically acclaimed, The Firm.

  • the book was EPIC . I didn't like the movie .

  • I'm reading the book.

  • Paul Sorvino and Joe Viterelli in The Firm are two of the most underrated film mobsters ever.

  • great movie

  • Why does he look younger than her?

  • this trailer gave away the whole movie!

  • ah i remember this.

  • i've read the book,, looks the same,, except for some creepy little things that ddnt add up,,

  • @biancavanessa2005 the same?? oh, come on the book is much better than the movie!!

  • The book for this is good

  • In the novel, it was a BMW...and he only made 81,000 before bonuses

  • i just read the book and liked it, but this trailer isnt turning me on to the movie

  • LOL, I like how intense Cruise's running is in the trailer, but when you see the actual scene in the movie it's completely over-the-top and laughable.

Press 8 to see what I mean!

  • they gave mitch a BMW in the paperback not a mercedes.

  • Awesome.

  • we want you !

  • *sigh* these were the days when the leading man was the SAME age as his wife/girlfriend.. nowadays we have 60yr old men with 22 yr olds, it's not the same, at ALL

  • this was a nice movie ^^

  • abby is ugly wtf i thot she as hot

  • Die Firma ist der Name eines Kaufmanns!

  • WTF I wanted to see a trailer about a football film and now this shit.

  • @0crakhadshizzakizza0 read the title?

  • @s3an2k8 This movie has the same title. But the difference is it has little faggy tom cruise in it.

  • i like Gene Hackman as avery tolar in this movie

  • Haha tom cruises running face is awesome

  • its crazy how trailers have changed over the last twenty years or so.

  • I know its just a small detail, but they could've at least gotten the car right.

  • gay movie

  • OH MY GOD! ISN'T THAT TOBIN BELL?

    1:57-2:00

  • Think i`ll make this the first movie of 2011 really enjoy anything with Gene Hackman.

    Great movie.

  • loved the book...cant wait to watch the film!

  • Classic, I love this movie

  • Isn't the music in this trailer from A Few Good Men? Or the other way around?

  • I finished reading the book today and I loved it! And, usually I don't like movies based on books because books tend to be better most of the time, but I still wanted to at least check out the trailer because I find it interesting to compare the movie to how I imagined the scenes in the book. But the trailer looks kind of boring, I guess I won't watch the movie.

  • i'm reading the book for the second time now, but i've never seen the movie yet

  • Best acting cruise has done imho, excellent movie, a good book/story does not make a movie worse necessarily.

  • in movie mitch was 2nd placer. in the book he was the bar topnotcher.

  • "preserve the confidence of clients? LAWYERS LIARS BELIEVE THEM THEIR WALLETS ARE MADE OUT OF PEOPLE' SKINS ROFL

  • Awesome Book I am 12 and I read this. The Movie looked like it's going to suck.

  • @FangRiide

Books are often better then movies!

  • The truck driver ironically delivering cotton was black

  • LOL the bullet sounds are crack up

  • I Love This Movie....One of Tom Cruise's best performances ever!!

He was also good in 1996's Jerry Maguire...

    Show Me The Money!!!

  • no blacks in this film this film is racist

  • @err0r

There were blacks in The Firm, the waiter that served Mitch and Avery at their first lunch together was black.the owner of the diner at which Mitch had coffee while studying for the bar exam was black, thei kid that Mitch did somersaults with in Downtown Memphis while Mitch's wife,Lamar's wife, and Lamar looked on,so there were in fact black people in this movie, and the Quinn's housekeeper was black.

  • @WCD73 you is racist, nigger have to be in a film only if they make the white man coffee or dinner or clean their bathrooms yeah i see what you mean

  • @err0r

    You're a racist!!!!

  • @err0r

    You're a racist for calling me a racist....something I am not!!!!!

  • @err0r

No I am not a racist, you are a racist for calling me one, better watch who you call a racist!!! oh,and by the way,the FBI agent that worked with Ed Harris's character was also black and there were blacks in the truckstop scene!!!

  • @err0r Read the book you'll understand why. The firm didn't hire blacks, blacks were more interested in firms in New York.

  • @err0r lol!

  • @err0r

Dude, I'm black and I think it's a great film

  • I have to have this book read in three days... so.. I'm thinking about renting this movie. Do you think I could pass a test on the book from watching the movie..? Is it accurate enough? Please reply soon.

  • @rileyriley12 Lol, trying to get out of a school test? The book is great so I recommend you just read it. I wish they assigned me this book when I was in high school. And you would most likely fail if you watch the movie and try to take the test because there are many differences. Your teacher may ask you a question for example as to what car Mitch McDeere was given. If you answer BMW he knows you read the book, if you answer Mercedes he'll fail you for cheating and watching the movie. Godspeed!

  • @Matador11990 I just finished watching this movie about an hour ago, and I loved it. :) I kinda took notes, and skimmed through chapters in the book and got most of the important details out. This is for Advanced English 11.. and I've heard the test is pretty tough.. I'm not looking forward to it. But, thanks for the advice :) I might pass with a C.. blah.

  • Nobody.

  • Ahh, not the Firm I was looking for but a good movie nonetheless.

  • the reason why tom crusie runs in all of his movies you can't catch me gay thoughts

  • tom cruise = LEGEND

  • i get the feeling that abby is potrayed as way more hotter than in the movie

  • I think mitch is gay

  • @zulka25 He really does run in all his movies lol

  • still love its paperback version.

  • No wherrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre to watch the firm .. please is there any link where i can watch this movie .. i can find it no where :'( ? ???? pleaseeeeeee

  • @sweetNado123 I'd like to know the same thing. I had no luck on youtube either. I just got disappointing scenes where people altered the car "Maybe they know how important your young wife is to you.... she finds heart break Mitch an end to love and trust." I did find The Client Part [01/14] LovelyxRiver Hope thats some counselation. If you find it let me know. But don't miss reading Grisham books if you haven't yet.

  • 'Why are you asking questions about dead lawyers?

  • the book is a billion times better.

  • movie ending sucked!!

    Book was sooo much better.

  • @classicrocker452 OH REALLY?! I liked the movie and the ending how Mitch found a way to win without breaking confidentiality. But I know what you mean about movies lacking. I get that with the Potter movies everyone says they're so great, but I'm "Thats not what happened!" always disappointed. I haven't read all of the firm yet. So far it seems much the same as the movie. Ditto with the client. Don't watch the Chamber- boring. I couldn't put the book down. I read all that one.

  • @Miracle490d In that case I highly suggest reading all of the book! It's so suspenseful and exciting!

  • @classicrocker452 I'll have to keep reading the Firm since so many say its that much better. Guess the differences will come up later.

  • the book was crazy i couldn't stop reading it .. john is genius

as for the film ... didn't like it

  • @TheNonfat I'll definately agree with the Grisham assessment!!! BIG TIME AUTHOR FAN !!! He got me back into reading. There's just never enough time to do everything you need to, read all his books, and do my own writing hoping to be as good as him.

  • wait my law firm dose the same stuff as this movie! is that bad?

  • @concretedoor100 Yeah, if your law firm represents mafia families, that's pretty fucked up.

  • @concretedoor100 I hope you mean tax law. But there are plenty of lawyers representing criminals and the guilty. Even public defenders. Not especially moral, But thats our legal system. It aint perfect. Some lawyers and firms take the money and don't care, others may pick and choose. The trouble with this firm is they watch you and trap you in their system. Death is the only way out. Now that is bad !!! Hope your law firm doesn't do that.

  • I have just read the book. My job involves billing my time in 6 minute increments. The book is horrifyingly accurate.

  • @polonypolony Of course it is!!! You do know that John Grisham was a lawyer, don't you? What he doesn't know first hand he can find out from his collegues.

  • Can somebody give me a link where i can watch the whole movie?

    Thank You...

  • Scene in night club was not used in the movie.

  • Finished reading the book for the first time yesterday. Watched the movie today. The book's about a million times better than the film (no disrespect to those that liked it). The movie manages to take an enthralling, exciting book and turn it into some kind of ridiculous farce about OVERBILLING. Where was the enthralling chase along the coast with hundreds of FBI agents and dozens of Mafiosos, where death threatened Mitch and Abby at every instant??? etc. Basically, just READ THE BOOK!!!

  • @Yass72ForEver So I guess mitch doesn't meet the mob peacefully and win with his plan not to expose the mob clients. If the mob and firm are both trying to kill them, how can they live unprotected unless mitch gives the FBI what they want and destroy his future as a lawyer? You didn't give away the whole ending, but I don't see how it can end happy for mitch. Maybe that's why they changed the end in the movie. It kinda sucks when the hero looses big. I hope I'm wrong and Grisham surprises me.

  • @Miracle490d I won't give anything away here, but I thoroughly recommend reading the book through. You won't be disappointed with the ending; much more satisfying than the movie's, which was paltry by comparison.

  • @Yass72ForEver I've had the Firm and the Client both for a while now because I liked the movies and Grishams writing, but I only read the starts to each and seeing no big differences I turned my attention to the Street Lawyer and finised it. But now that I know the story takes much more different turns, I'll have to give the Firm higher priority. So how about the client? Is the book a lot different from the movie or is it only minor differences? ......

  • @Yass72ForEver ......... I still have Innocent Man and Playing for Pizza I haven't read yet. If you find bargain prices for Grisham Books smart ones better buy whether you heard of them or not.

  • tom cruise was the last person they should have considered for this role. and the book was way better. they usually are though.

  • the book is better then the movie in my opinion. Different ending and other scenes are better. Anyone else think the same.

  • @Nydave345 yes, the book is better but i think ist always by the storys of grisham.... my favourite book by grisham is the chamber, the firm and the rainmaker but all these books are better then the movies :) sry 4my bad english :/

  • Such a good movie. I watched it w/my dad a few months ago. It's one of his favorites.

  • Tom Cruise, Gary Busey and Wilford "The Diabeetus" Brimley? I gotta see this movie!

  • Don't forget Gene Hackman, Ed Harris, and David Straintham plus more! this movie is full of great actors

  • Tom cruise has DIABEETUS

  • The diabeetus guy is in this movie ROFL

  • Not fun to make fun of a person's illness. And it's not cool also. Just remember, you too will have an illness eventually.

  • @genxdarkangel diabeetus is the slang word for diabetes for the wilford brimley guy, LIGHTEN UP would ya please? sheesh

  • @genxdarkangel Hopefully it won't be DIABEETUS.

  • I just discovered that Avery Tolar is renamed into Avery Tolleson in my copy of the book. It's a paperback, printed in England by the "Arrow Books" publisher.

Does anyone know something about that, and for what reason it is done?

  • @AntonScream WOAH!!! ME TOO!!!! i have no idea why but i also have a paperback version that was from arrow books.

  • @AntonScream I don't know. i just checked my paper back. it's Tolar. published New York. Guess it's the same reason why the illustrations for the england Harry Potter books are different or enland beatle albums. Just want to be different I guess. I wonder what else might be different.

  • @Miracle490d The ending. They get him, his wife and his Brother whacked.

    )))

  • @AntonScream and they whacked his hamster.

    - You beat me to it....thats my favourite ending spoiler.

  • im about to read the book, its hella thick

  • Comment removed

  • The movie is great. Differs a fair bit from the movie, but some awesome performances from the likes of Cruise, Holly Hunter, Gene Hackman and Ed Harris. It's a long one at over 2 hrs 30 minutes, but well worth it :)

  • i think this movie is far from the book.

  • the movie is much better then the trailer

  • Tom Cruise running in a movie...again! "You can't catch me, gay thoughts!"

  • lol

  • the book is AMAZING, but this looks quite unimpressive

  • @xxxIzekeIxxx: you're a moron, congratulations.

  • @MoveOnDotOrgg LOL whatever you say, faggot

  • @xxxIzekeIxxx

The book devotes the film equivalent of an extra HOUR to the Florida hotel scene(where brother Ray and Mitch's wife dodge the FBI and the Mob to hook up with McDeere). I don't think there's a way this could have been effectively portrayed without "The Firm" becoming another "Clear & Present Danger"(!) - That thing lasted an eternity.

  • @Zickcermacity yeah, so why bother?

    oh right, money.

  • @Zickcermacity

My point is each vehicle(cinema, novel, etc) handled "The Firm" as best as they could have. Cinema as a vehicle is limited by time/financial constraints that books as vehicles do not. You can just stick an old grocery store receipt in a book and pick it back up where you left off. Film? A different beast entirely.

  • I loved the book, I'm going to have to give the movie a go.

  • ...for me Tom shone as usual, he owned the intensity and east coast like overcast sombreness of realising his brother must be bargained for in the face of mob corruption.

The running scene up the street of the Cruismeister was a highlight, esp the facials of imagining he is once again running his high school 100m dash in a time under 11 seconds, as well as the scene when he was in the roof and jumped on that guy in a way that said "I'M CRUISE, AND I SHINE!"

    4 stars!

  • jigsaw at 1:56

  • By the way, I agree, that is his sex face. When people are in a fight, or angry or running, they have there sex face on. Probably because in all these activities, one is very excited and also they are all physically demanding. I have always felt that there is a close relationship between anger and sex. Maybe it's the element of aggression in both.

  • @nethrit you're a freak dude

  • great book!

  • Gee, that law firm is an awful lot like the "Church" of Scientology.

  • Hi, Abby! Love, Avery.. :)

  • i'd imagined abby quite dfferent in the book...

  • me too

  • i´m cuter than tom and i ain´t famous uhuhu

  • The way tom cruise runs at the end...LOL facial expression is hilarious

  • Hilarious? What are you talking about?

Tom looks awesome running like that. When people run, because of the exertion, it's difficult to maintain one's normal visage. In other words, it's not possible to look good. But this is where Tom Cruise sets himself apart. Despite running like that, he looks amazing. That run was one of the best parts of the movie. Any other guy would look hilarious running like that. But not Tom Cruise. He is the man. The most good looking guy on the planet.

  • ...Want to know something funny. You've been just do me reflect on the law. I did three years of faculty of law without a moment to reflect on its meaning. But how come to mind tax fraud!

It was in the entrance examination of Faculty...

By John Grisham.Thriller, action and particular ending. Drama by David Rabe, Robert Towne and David Rayfiel. Its just a parable on the transition from youth to adulthood, a tragic love endangered by the rhythms and patterns of the world today.

  • what a shitty trailer. seriously. does not do the book justice in any way

  • Gene Hackman Is A Really Brilliant Actor, I Can't Think Of Anything Bad He Is In.

    The Same With Cruise

  • what about that irish film cruise did with kidman (forgot name), awful, cocktail, awful, DOT, just about watchable, interview with vampire = best actinng ever by cruise

  • do you mean "far and Away" because that was shit!

  • that's the one! But he was really good in Born on 4th of July. He is a good actor, he's just taken on some bad roles in the past and he's done a few too many commercial sell out films which is why I think he's never recieved an oscar. But for his role in 4th July he should have got one, because his acting was extremely good for some one in their early 20's

  • agree!

  • awesome book

    movie... not that much

its basically made for the ppl that dont like

    reading tho

  • one of cruises best movies ,suspense edge of the seat stuff.

  • @everybodyhatesEJ: are you always such a moron?

  • OMG 1:58 is tobin bell xDDD

  • i like this movie and i like wall street movie also

  • This movie was a huge dissapointment!

The book is awesome so read it instead of watching this movie!

  • eze14213; how long have you been an idiot?

  • fuck you!

  • eze14213: you're been reported to YouTube. See ya!

  • brilliant book

  • It is a great book.

  • the movie is really cool...but this trailer isn´t so good.....

  • Yeah i agree .movie is brilliant . very intense

  • One of the best thrillers from the 90s. Tom's acting was awesome

  • pause at 1:57 .. "Let's play a game.." LOLOLOL!!!

    Reminds you of something?

  • The rules of the game are simple

    i wanna play a game.
