I am a Rangers fan and when I watched (TV)the last game btw the NYR and Devils. I felt bad for the Devil players. You could hear the chat of "Lets Go Rangers" even the announcers were upset with the chants.
The new transit train service made it even easier for NYR fans to come into the Prudential Center to cheer on the NYR vs Devils. Its Sad for Devil fans

In the 90s the NYR finally caught up with the times and won, subsequently destroying the future in the process for Stanley's Cup. Having traded a young Amonte, Weight, Domi, and Marchant. The rest is history, as we Ranger fans undoubtedly know. But the sad reality is I know my team is going to be here in New York City forever, as for the NJDs playing in New Jersey not so sure. There has to be a reason why, Niedermayer, Gomez, Holik, and Rafalski at some point in time all jumped ship.

I am a die hard NYRs fan going back when Kelly Kisio donned jersey #11 and I do agree with a lot of what you NJD fans are saying the NYRs have sucked for many years. Foolishly wasted money on aging yester-year superstar free agents and their scouts havent drafted well since the Tony Amonte, Doug Weight, and Kovalev era. Forever the Rangers had been one step behind the NHL curve. From the lack of toughness in the 70s (Dale Rolfe) to the terrible trading and drafting of the 80s.

I was at the game and it wasn't really all that big a deal. I've certainly seen worse. the whole thing was over in 5 minutes. it could have been a lot worse given some of the names on both teams like Danyeko, Wells, Guerin, Hardy, Boschman, McKay, Kocur, Messier etc... who could have squared off but didn't.

That being said, it's tough to argue 4 (4!!!) cups (3 of them won against a field of 5 other teams, more than 20 years before America ever heard of Vietnam), is more impressive than the Devils winning 3 cups since 95. Losing 4 of 5 playoff to a team series hardly constitutes as owning. You won your cups using a style of play (the trap) that almost killed the game of hockey. So much so that the NHL had to make new rules (allowing 2-line passes) so hockey could be barable to watch again. Also, when there are less teams in the league play is more competitive because talent is more concentrated. No jerkoff #8 seeds making the playoffs.
