  • Good vid, but ya ruined it with the music. Let's hear the aircraft!

  • Looks like Ka-22. Pity :(

  • So far, each V-22 Osprey costs the US taxpayer over $67M. Huey used to cost less than $5M and is much more reliable and efficient.

  • Mute works great!

  • so when we gonna put a gun on it

  • Didn't mean to sound like a know-it-all on that last post but I live close to Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, so seeing CV-22s from the 58th Special Ops wing overhead is a normal occurance. We even get Marine MV-22s flying in because of the Osprey program at Kirtland. I must admit, the V-22 platform still puzzles me. (It defying physics and all) Pretty controversial too!

  • This is a Marine MV-22 - Not a CV-22 which is used by the Air Force. Marine V-22s sport the light gray paint scheme (like the one in this video) while the Air Force CV-22s sport the dark gray spec ops paint scheme with the white waves on the bottom sides of the aircraft.

  • @626AG And the MV-22 has those fixed refueling probes instead of a retractable one.

  • lokks toy, is it?!?!

  • Is this considered a helicopter or a plane?

  • @yomama629 A plane. A plane with tilting rotors.

  • @BoomShitBags kthx

  • @yomama629 - YES!

  • worst plane ever

  • @polzowatel This would be a great aircraft if the singers were tuneful !!!!!!

  • Nice music, these guys suck cocks.

  • V-22 .. over-engeneered, over-complicated, over-prized toy

  • Better footage, better music: Search for Osprey Quick Clip.

  • what a shit & crap song.......

  • splinter cell game knew about this 2002 lol

  • @outdoorscamper Command and Conquer knew about this game back in 1995. GDI had them, and you could blow things up with them, or if you were Brotherhood of Nod, you could steal one.

  • POS

  • 20 billion dollar waste imo Glad they arent testing overhead where i live.n I love planes, don't like this one, could be better.

  • @emirilyasov This is a step forward for american VTOLs, not to be mass produced ruskie

  • This looks like the Falcon on Halo Reach. Its awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @derron585424 Falcons were based off of this. lol

  • @derron585424

Don't you mean the Falcon looks like the Osprey? Fiction is based on fact. Just sayin.

  • @derron585424

if you look at the falcon it says v23 too

  • How does it spin? It doesn't have a tail rotor.

  • @combuf By tilting (or flapping) the two rotors in opposite directions. It creates the moment to rotate about the yaw axis.

  • @awais2179

Ok then the opposition of the blades keep it straight. Thanks.

  • @combuf it uses the 2 propellers, for example to go right you have to make the left one go forward and the right one go back and vice versa

  • @MEGAtoaster1 Thanks

  • Oh my God, this is very ugly

  • THE V 22 OSPRAY CAN EVEN LAND ON A BOX OF MATCHES.

  • Funny how WMG actually mutes good songs but never manages to mute horrible ones like this

  • Too small to EVER take the place of the Air Force Pave Low. It's great for some mission but..Not a Pave Low..

  • @hcoptertx LOL you kids and your modern warfare 2.

  • @DeadGamePits4Life what the fuck are you talking about?? I crewed the Pave Low in desert shield!!

  • @hcoptertx Well I read the Osprey has a greater combat range than a pavelow, it's more fuel efficient, faster, etc.. Give it time man this thing is relatively new(to the military), they are still making it better and they might add more weaponry to it. Like a minigun under the nose of the Osprey.

  • @DeadGamePits4 Like I said in my first post. It may be good for some missions but will NEVER replace the Pave Low which I am proud to be attending my reuinion in october in Fort Walton beach Florida in October. 20th SOS still lives! Hurlburt Field..

  • @hcoptertx sikorsky air craft is right up the road from me in my hometown

  • @DeadGamePits4Life Not to mention your 18 and im 41 with a military helicopter career in special operations and a 20 year civilian helicopter career as a pilot and mechanic..Know who your talking to before you shout out your modern warefare comments little boy

  • this aircraft does a lot, well sort of. its much more effective than most aircraft in recon and evac missions. its faster than a helicopter because of its airplane mode and more effective than an airplane because it can go in to helicopter mode (can raise and lower). so its pretty cool.

  • if you feel the need to play the music, play the theme to the A-Team

  • the aircraft is awesome but it really doesn't look like it would be that efficient.

  • is this the aircraft from that game resistance fall of man?

  • aweaome aircraft!

  • not as good as a british harrier in taking off vertically. why use props when ya could use vectoring thrust nozzles. i mean those props are huge, nozzles dont need to be

  • @simpson3100 but this is a troop transport not a fighter a harrier does not transport.

  • @simpson3100 jet blast straight down would limit where it could do vertical takeoffs, like Harrier on a concrete runway has to do rolling short takeoffs or the exhaust will damage the runway. Autorotation would be another factor. Plus, thrust would flip the thing if one engine went out whereas with the Osprey one engine and connecting shafts will drive both rotors.

  • @simpson3100 also forgot to add that with cargo underneath or troops roping down a blast of red hot Harrier type thrust would not be desirable.

  • @simpson3100 Although bc1969214 and 16piller16lol have already pointed out some major differences between the Harrier and the Osprey, here are my two cents!

These prop rotors are way more efficient than turbojet or low bypass turbofans. It is for the same reason that most cargo airplanes use turboprops. Airliners would use turboprops as well, if it weren't for the acoustic/noise issues associated with it.

  • Comment removed

  • @simpson3100 In fact, NASA and General Electric Aircraft Engines are teaming up *again* to start their research on "Unducted fans", which is almost like a turboprop.

  • @simpson3100 i know your comment is old but you compared an American v22 to the UKs harrier. the UK does not opereate harriers anymore buddy. also how many troops can the harrier carry? 0 thats how many. the v22 can carry 32 troops and 20,000 pounds of cargo.

  • The osprey is like 10x harder to drive than the helicopter... am i right?

  • When I become a USMC pilot I want to fly one of those

  • is it a heli or a plane??? Can somebody tel me that?

  • its both

  • its a VTOL, an air vehicle that can take off vertically or horizontaly

  • haha. Is a heli mosyl,u only thing is that it tilits it rotors forward.

  • @KaasKoe1994 Hmm aangezien aan je naam ben je belg of een nederlander.

Dit 'ding' is zowel een heli als een vliegtuig.

If you not talking dutch ,

This 'thing' is a helicopter and also a plane.

  • the -pave low was a really good heli.

the pave low was a beast

  • Im glad they didn't put this in COD modern warfare 2, because then all the kids would think they were experts on this aircraft too.

  • they replaced the average helicopter with the V22 because it could fly higher and carry more troops so it is less likely to be shot down and better airsupport to carry troops

  • I lasted 18 seconds and had enough of your shit taste in music.

  • @KamikazeElvis Drowning pool are fucking awesome.

  • @KamikazeElvis i muted it right away, this is one of em tims when you wish wmg was on the case :D

  • @KamikazeElvis rebecca black's friday would go so much better with this vid, and on top of that youtube could the sound of all copyrighted music in military videos and replace it with spice girls... or whatever it is you hipster fagzz listen these days

  • @KamikazeElvis I made it for about 3 before muting it.

  • @KamikazeElvis Thats how I feel about hip hop. Whats beauitful to some sounds like shit to others. Your comment is pretty shitty in itself though

  • to bad they dont use these anymore because of a few wrecks. everything has a few wrecks

  • They dont use these anymore? WTF are you smoking.....I work for Boeing on the V-22 program....and there are plenty of Ospreys out there.....get your facts straight.

  • @K0diak314 Ha me too. That guy doesn't know what he is talking about. If they don't use them anymore why am I there drilling holes in them every morning?

  • You are imagining things LOL :)

  • Comment removed

  • Please get rid of the shitty music, we want the engines!

  • @DRAC250 dude this song rocks

  • @13JunkYarDog13 This song is literally painful to listen to.

  • @DRAC250 Drowning pool are fucking awesome

  • am i the only 11 year old who in the future plans to fly this?

  • So where do you plan to fly with it lol

  • im sure you know this but it is a military aircraft. you fly over afganistan in one of these transporting troops and supplies to areas

  • im 16 and plan on doin the same thing

  • no. i wanna fly it too

  • lol, if you put your mind to it, im sure you could do anything

  • in witch way is it better than the Pave Low?

  • @Maaarteh To be honest. The Pave Low was a mean helicopter. I can't believe they switched it to this. But hey, its whatever gets the job done.

  • The V-22 was actually meant to replace the H-46 Sea Knight in USMC service and the HH-60 PaveHawk in USAF service. The USAF and USMC will still operate their versions of the H-53 into the forseen future.

  • And to clarify the numbers:

    H-46 USMC Sea Knight (Boeing)

    H-53 USMC/USAF Super Stallion/Pave Low (Sikorsky)

    HH-60 USAF PaveHawk (Sikorsky)

    V-22 USMC/USAF Osprey

  • in iraq the MV-22 is being used to replace the 46's they are faster, have a higer ceiling and longer legs! I flew on them all the time, was kind of reluctant at first given it's history but it's a pretty exciting flight!

  • The USAF MH-53 Pave Low's were retired more then a year ago. They were very overworked. The Marines are looking to buy the new CH-53K to replace there 53Echo's though.

  • The USAF MH-53Js were retired but the M variant is still in operation as far as I know.

  • Negative, The last MH-53M's were retired late September/early October of 2008. The J models were retired a bit before that.

  • well, thank you for the information. I guess I was out of touch with the USAF helicopter situation...

  • Well it is realy good for tansporting troops and resources it also looks so bad ass lol

  • My dad was an engineer at Boeing and designed the rotor blades for the Osprey and Chinook. Our family has osprey everything all over the house.

  • NO MUSIC PLEASE ! just the sound of the engines !!!

  • Hey guys or girls notto be a A** or anything but ,My brother is in the marines . He became a captain in less then a Year and a half !. But mabe he just gained rank Exteemely fast ... I don't knoww to tell you the truth ...

  • that happens from time to time, but the problem is that they sit on captain for like 12 or more years :P

  • A very interesting aircraft, I would call it a heli-plane or an air-copter.

It's a craft that offers the vertical take off while having a higher cruising speed as well as providing for a higher capacity than most (if not all) other transport helicopters.

The fact that it is dangerous is natural, helicopters themselves are not easy crafts to handle anyway, imagine this one. Pilots need to train quite a lot to get used to the idea of flying and then vertically landing...

  • Is it a plane? Is it a helicopter?

    No it's..... both?

  • yes this air craft is an unstable one you need alot of experience to handle this

  • I love the V-22 but then again I work for Boeing :)

  • bloody dangerous things, those V-22s! I couldn't imagine how hard they would be to pilot...

  • u have to have more than about 20 years experience as a airforce pilot to fly one of these

  • do they prefer rotor pilots or can any jet pilot put their hand up for the job?

  • well jet pilots would be more suitable for many resons they have better actions they take more G's and yea but if u have both experience in rotor aircraft and jets then they would like sign u up straight away hope i helped :)

  • yeah, thanks man! :-)

  • its all right :)

  • wrong wrong wrong mister shuffle953. There are captains flying these, and people dont have to be in for 20 years to be a captain.

  • well thats not what i heard :)

  • well then, you heard wrong. In the marines, you will be a captain in around 6 years easy

  • well then ok then cause my uncles in the airforce :D in aust

  • and in the airforce, you could be a captain in only around 4 years. youre wrong im telling you

  • well then ok then thanks for correcting me :D

  • i still dont see why they didnt just put two big ass jets on either side kinda like the transports in alien and halo and all the futuristic galatic marine stuff of today

  • cause its not fucking future and shit and its not halo its life they couldnt go to fast it carrys soldiers / supplies and they could fall / get damaged

  • yea and the jets would probably create too much lift and be unstable and stuff.

  • Actually the answer to that good question is you can't cross-couple jets. If engine 1 fails on the V-22 engine 2 on the other side can power both rotors. Theres a shaft that runs across the wing.

  • Fantastic, It rocks !

  • its a horrible aircraft

  • Really? The Marines and Air Force don't think so, but I guess you're much more informed.

  • Man i get pumped when i see those things when were at the beach near MCAS New River

  • it looks ridiculous

  • brilliant aircraft

the british are buying some for the 2 new aircraft cariers

  • i saw one flying down the hudson river in nyc a few months back, sooo sick

  • wuts the name of the song?

  • numb by drowing pool

  • Numb, Drowning pool

  • those are sooo badass. i saw one fly over my house today

  • lucky. on my 10th b-day i saw one fly over my house and right after i found black pearl in the oyster i was eating

  • want a RC of one of those

  • The osprey is the future of planes/helicopters.

Its just going to be tough to make them efficient.

  • Comparing the CV-22 to the FA22 is like comparing apples with oranges, tanks with ships. One is a hybrid hover/aircraft, used to deploy personel, specops, etc.. the other is a combat airplane. Both are top notch, but can't be compared to each other.

  • ok the osprey will own no doubt about all air craft crash once in a while the raptor crashed two but were still puting in service think boeing phatom works need to get the quad tilt rotor in a prototype in phase its rocks

  • the CV-22 is a great aircraft but i think the F/A-22 Raptor is better ^^ but it costs too much also what song?

  • can you load 20 people into the back of a raptor?

  • no but does the CV-22 have the stealth capability?

  • no it doesn't.

the raptor and the osprey are 2 completely different aircraft design for completely different purposes. so you can't say that one is better than the other can you?

  • well true but really it depends on the operation say if the US army had to drop off 13 troops on a covert mission behind enemy lines then the ospery would be the best for that operation and if the US army was planning a strike operation and for it to be quick with maxium damage then they would use the Raptor but really the CV-22 would be good for both if it flys high it could drop a MOAB or something hehe i didnt think stupid me ^^

    ⌠Thanks take care Gaktkr⌡

  • this aircraft went through 21 test pilots.

  • F-22 sucks V-22 rocks =D

    i'd want to ride in a V-22, wouldn't you?

the feeling would be awesome, first the rotors are tilted up and the Osprey starts hovering, and then the rotors turn front, and a jet boosts the Osprey's speed(except they haven't put in a jet boost yet)

  • no. f-22 dose not suck. i would rather fly in a f-22. i dont even know why i would compare the f-22 with the v-22. ones a fighter and the others a transport. flying in a v-22 would feel like riding in a helicopter. but dont get me wrong the v-22 is the coolest transport out there.

  • i herd he wants to turn us into a 3rd world country... and seems make us more vulnerable at the same time...

  • obama will probably cut it like the f22 raptor

  • OBAMA DESTROYED THE RAPTOR?!?!?!?!!

  • I keep hearing that he wants to cut the raptor, yes. Its obvious isnt it? Of major importance in any war, is air superiority. Pilots of that plane say that it isnt fair unless they are taking on like 5 or 6 targets at one time. He doesnt want us having that kind of power in the air.

  • ATLEAST I DIDNT VOTE FOR OBAMA!

  • longer plz

  • A marinha do Brasil precisava de uns destes ai!

  • I'm glad you posted this. Drowning Pool is a favorite with the Marines.

That bird is stable and has been through years of testing. That's why it has been deployed to Iraq. It will save many of our troops lives.

  • the v-22 is the only prop powerd vtol, and is with the harrier and f-35 jsf the only plane for vtol...

  • of course it looks like halo, it is a recruiting video. Come fly/die with us. . . even after they iron out all (the many, Many) kinks people will still die in crashes. Gravity rules them to get funked up. Looks are every thing when it comes having some scare factor like the hewie's in apocalypse now. The Osprey looks like, "Ah run away it's the giant egg beater, run for you lives!" While it 2:00 min's to land, every twelve year with rifle is pelting your butt with bullets.

  • That's why their is any combination of four 50. caliber M2's or 7.62mm Miniguns on board the Osprey. Its no more vunerable when hovering than the MH-53 that it is going to replace. Human bodies tend to explode under that kind of fire

  • it is what it is Sergeant, we use the tools we're given and hope for the best. If nothing else it's a step in the right direction for insertion and extraction at lest as a platform, VTOL is the way to go.

As a designer, I still think we can do better, but with practice even this bird will get the job done.

  • Man, this is like something right out of halo.

  • Nice Heliplane.

  • Imagine if you put mounted miniguns on that thing, the terrorists would shit their pants. Nice vid

  • i crapped in my hand.

  • mint

  • My father worked on the Osprey back in the mid 90s to early 2000. Not sure if it was the CV-22 model or not. I know they had a lot of trouble with the craft for many years and he was not sure if it would ever work.

  • It does now. And it's going into action.

  • Who is that singer?

  • i know, who ever it is, they really suck!

  • I think it's Drowning Pool, but I'm like 50% on that.

  • how do they maintain vertical stability while switching rotor direction? or do they either stay flying in "helicopter" mode or in fordwards "aeroplane" mode, as in they never actually change mid air?

  • They just tilt their rotors slowly from vertical to horizontal as their forward airspeed builds up. I guess they just do stay stable, the same as a helicopter does. They probably have control from altering the pitch of the blades like a helicopter does.

  • Cool vid' footage, thanks. Gay butt-rock music, no thanks.

  • The best thing about the Osprey is that it pushes innovation forward. It is a brand new design, which took a couple decades to reach the battlefield. The options this aircraft gives you are countless.

  • The Osprey in civilian use would make a hell of an air tanker/transport for firefighting.

The cost, the cost is prohibitive.

  • can i ask what your backgrounds are in aviation? As for crashes just to chime in since they became operational there have been no crashes a few design flaws but no crashes. Only testing crashes.

  • um yes there has

  • ya although awesome in thought and almost efficient this plane is insane hard to pilot and extremely dangerous it has like the most test crashes of any plane tested in military plus its really slow getting off the ground they need to fix that

  • Actually if you look at the AV-8B, Huey or Blackhawk development you will find a lot of accidents in the development phase as well. Furthermore, of the crashes in development, 1 was a hotshot pilot descending at 3000 feet/min in his own downwash and the rest were mechanical/software issues that have been worked out. This is new technology that brings capabilities to the USMC while replacing an aircraft that is 50 years old, slow, and cant lift anything (ch-46). I look forward to flying it soon.

  • Since it has entered active duty the Osprey has had no operational crashes. The majority of the crashes during testing were due to pilots error. Errors that are just as common in helicopters as in tiltrotors.

  • Stewker: actually yes there has.. I'm at VMMT-204 and i can assure you that i've been there for 3 crashes. A/C 04 in 2004, hyd failure, crashed on ramsey rd in jacksonville nc both pilots and crew died. A/C 11 2007, engine fire caused an emergency landing, a/c burned to the ground, pilots and crew were safe. A/C 16 2006 uncommanded Vert take off from taxiway, R/h wing and nacelle broke off, pilot and crew safe.

  • Do you honestly expect to produce an aircraft that wont crash during testing.

If you think you can do it more power to yah.

    It wont happen though.
