  • That's great and all, Tom, but I think you forgot the "Go Go DJ" sigs - you know, the ones that identify CHUM's DJ's (e.g. Bob McAdorey, Dave Johnson, Mike Darrow).

  • @Ian16545 Uh, oh... Whenever I see something that starts out with "That's great and all..." I know I'm in trouble, meaning it ain't all that great. Actually, I didn't forget the DJ sigs, I just don't have 'em.

  • I miss CHUM 1050 radio soo much!!

  • @holmsatlarge I miss those classic Top 40 radio days! I'm sure you have LOTS of company when it comes to fond memories of CHUM.

  • I have fond memories of this stations as a little boy living north of Toronto. Then, when we moved back east (Atlantic Canada); my first 'tuner', I put the AM/FM receiver on its side in a rather precarious position; turning it so slightly to rule out WHN 1050 New York City, so I could get my baby: 1050 Chum Toronto. 1977 (that was my far away teenage bliss).

  • @EasilyWowed I think everyone had that favorite radio station with all those great memories. My brothers and I will still, to this day talk about the great times we had around WLS- summer vacations just would not have been as great without that station! It's good to hear your memories of CHUM! I wish I had known about it then-would have been fun to listen to!

  • good memories , listened as much as possible while vacationing with family in Grimsby Beach. Could only see the glow of Toronto at night in the mid 60's until the Dominion bank bld. went up.

  • @rutheliz75 Glad that the jingles brought back those good memories!

  • Great station... always listened while passing though Ontario to Buffalo. Hard as hell to catch from Detroit though, with 1050 from NYC being a little stronger. Thanks for the post.

  • @waterman9465 You're welcome for the post, waterman- and thanks for your comment!

  • It's not just Series 29 of CHUM in this video... it's also Series 30 of CHUM as well! Go to 7:32 to hear it. Just thought I'd point that out to you...

  • @ChrisNeufeldMusic BIG OOOPPPPPS! I don't know how that one happened! What I mean is I had planned on doing another video for the Series 30 part. I guess I uploaded the wrong video or forgot to divide the audio portion so I could do a whole different video for those. WOW! Thanks for pointing this out to me- still, I'm glad at least everyone gets to hear them!

  • YES ITS ALL RUN BY COMPUTERS AND ALL VOICE TRACKED NOW.

IN MY LAST RADIO GIG I USED TO GO LIVE BUT COULDNT ANY MORE AS OTHERS NEEDED THE STUDIO TO VOICE TRACK THERE SHOWS.

IT TOOK THE FUN AND EXCITMENT OUT OF THE JOB AND THEN THE REAL KICKER WAS THE STATION CHANGING THE PAY STRUCTURE TO TRACKING TIME ONLY , WICH TURNED A FULL TIME JOB WITH BENIFITS INTO A 3 HOURS A DAY JOB WITH NO BENIFITS .

I KNEW THEN THE GLORRY DAYS ARE TRULY GONE AND I LEFT. ITS A DARN SHAME,

  • @jaychristy01 Wow, just goes to show- even if a radio personality wanted to inject some fun into a broadcast, many times he just isn't allowed to do so. Yes, radio is pretty lifeless now...

  • THESE JINGLES WERE BEFORE MY CHUM LISTINING DAYS BUT WHAT A TREAT.

I MISS THE OLD RADIO DAY'S THE OLD CHUM AROUND 1977 -84 JOHN MAJHOR

TERRY STEELE,JAY NELSON, TOM RIVERS. MAN THEY WERE GOOD AND SO WAS THE CHUM FORMAT PLEASE BRING BACK THE NIFTY 1050 AND THE TALENT THAT WENT WITH IT , I KNOW THERE GONE NOW BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN AND LIVE ON IN AIR CHECKS.

    THANKS FOR POSTING. GOD BLESS.

  • @jaychristy01 Jay, I agree with you- I think what has been missing from radio for quite some time is the element of fun. I think we may both be of the same generation as I grew up with Top 40 from the mid 70's to about '84 or so. We were fourtunate to have caught the end days of the format, when there was still a bit of spark to radio. I won't go into how music has gotten worse, because actually there are still some pretty good songs out there, but radio just seems dead...

  • @jaychristy01 P.S. I'm glad you checked this out and even thought these are before our time, they certainly are a lot of fun to listen too. I'm just astounded at the amount of work, and incredibly complex arrangement that went into these. It seem our music world has worked in reverse: the more time goes on, the more simple and dull music in general has gotten in terms of use of insturments and creativity.
