  • These new container giants are 400 meters long with a beam of 59 meters and can carry 18.000 containers. This means that the vessels are too wide to transit through the Panama Canal or use just any port along their route.

  • damn!! that's a big ship!

  • Wonder how much cannabis gets on there?

  • ship orgasm :p thats awesome :-D

  • it all looks great on paper but it is only good if it really works as they say it should ?

  • @jeryl68 Most efficient, fast and cheap way to ship good. I'm a naval architecture student, i think i'd know :)

  • @moigabi ok i stand corrected thanks

  • interesting and an amazing ship but all things considerd ? is it going to fit thrue the panama canal ? i dont think so so that means its going to have to travle around cape horn south america wich meens more fuel so how good is it on fuel and cape horn being one of the worst and violent capes in the world hows a loaded container ship of its size going to be able to handle all the rough seas and bad weather ? im really wondering if bigger is better ? time will tell

  • @jeryl68 These ships are used only between China and Europe and travel through the Suez Canal.

  • it is nice to know that big companies are reducing energy comsumption: they are finaly understanding that it is the way of the future

  • I heard that the port of Los Angeles will be expanding to be able to service these ships. Well sounds like the next ship that is bigger than the triple e class is just around the corner.

  • @Nanostarification when, by 2020?

  • WAL-MART!!!

  • @DonBringer i agree

  • @jontibloom Your cargo got rolled, I hear you, it sucks, but the fact is it would have happened regardless no matter who you shipped with. 1 This simply does not happen, documentation, appoval, customs and port capacity and more prevent this unless there is a monumental reason for it. 2 Again this does not happen unless there is no possibe option available to any carrier. 3 All carriers overbook because on average around 10% of bookings never show up, it is just a fact in freight logistics.

  • @jontibloom Maersk is the most reliable carrier in the world, there is simply no better alternative. Major carriers in particular Maers provide the option of commited cargo, which assures that your cargo will be on their vessel but most people are too cheap to guarantee ontime cargo arrival. The bump is called rolling and it is a basic fact of shipping and any idiot in freight logistics will tell you that if Maersk has to roll, everybody has to roll. Look at the fog and Qingdao for example.

  • @iDownFatKids What you say is true, but when you been on the receiving end of MAERSK's decisions to 1) PUT INTO UNSCHEDULED PORTS AND THERBY CAUSE DELAYS 2) MISS OUT SCHEDULE PORTS ALTOGETHER 3) SAIL WITHOUT YOUR CONTAINER AS THEY HAVE OVERBOOKED ........just to mention of few things these FUCKER'S do.......then perhaps your would not be laughing quite as much as you seem to be.

  • DONT USE MAERSK LINES FOR YOUR SHIPPPING ! They may have the biggest ships but they are useless. They bump containers even when you have booked cargo and they are slow. Do yourself a favor if you dont want delayed goods .......DONT USE THEM !
