hey karl - i checked your profile and saw that you were 14. i just wanted to say that you are so brave. when i was 14 i was unable to admit to myself that i was not a heterosexual. i thought my friends and my family would disown me. i didn't even accept to MYSELF that i was bi/gay until i was 19. so even if you are scared - always know that you are very courageous and everything will always turn out alright.
OMG!!! I came out when i was 13 and i thought i was like the only person to like ever come out soo young and i felt kinda stupid but your video makes me sooo happy to know that someone else had the courage to come out so young : )
Excellent job on this video. It is so wonderful that you have a loving, accepting parent. Keep your head held high! By the way, I'm proud to be a woman, a wife in an interracial marriage and a mother of a beautiful, talented biraccial daughter.
That vid is just, amazing. I can't tell anyone that I'm bi or my life will fall apart. My dad thinks gay and bi is wrong and my mom doesn't really support it.
your video makes me happy inside -- i wish everyone would be so forward about thier sexual orientation. if more people were like, hey im gay. and i dont care what you think about it, i think that would help push back against some of the homophobia we have in our society today.
i love this video. i wish my parents were like yours. i am stuck in the closet because mine have made it clear that they wont want me in their life if i am gay.
do you believe them? are they using to scare you... give them time..it's have to deal with...think how long we kept it inside befor ewe admitted it to ourselves :) it takes time.. hugs...hang in there
I am proud also that I was raised well, and that being open-minded and able to see people past ugly stereotypes and labels has afforded me knowledge, experiences, and friendships I will treasure forever.
Like someone has said in a vid I liked, "straight but not narrow"
I can only say that I hope to be able to give my own children the same feeling if they should ever be gay. Well wishes to you and your mother, may life treat you kindly.
why is that? I don't have a single problem with gays/lesbians. Who the hell knows WHY people want to treat others like crap just because of what gender they find attractive. Now that I look at your first comment about "streight" and gays, I misunderstood what you were trying to say. I apologize.
That was a really great video. And I wanna say that I'm proud of my personality aside from my sexuality; the part of me that's strong enough to ignore homophobia... in most cases.
This was nice to see as one of the responses, and when you said that for a time you didn't know that homophobia existed, and that shows you were raised in a loving wonderful environment. I am proud that I overcame being called many horrible things from when I was 10 before I even knew what they meant, or who I was for that matter.
FINALLY! shit, finally some1 posted a decent video to respond william.. All the others were "lets party cuz im a crazy fag", but u stopped to think about it and actually talk in a serious mode.
I have to disagree with part of your video. One should not be proud for the traits he's been born with.We should be proud for things we do, or that we have accomplished to become. I'm not proud for being greek, I'm not proud to be a daughter or a sister.
I'm proud to be a good friend, and I'm proud to love my family. I'm proud for the life I've built so far and for the plans I've made for the future. I'm not proud for being bisexual. Pride is only for actions, as it is shame.
Is that Classical Gas playing in the background?Anyway, good on ya coming out at such an early age. I'm 16 and have been hiding my bisexuality for 4 or 5 years now. I've only told 4 people. I'm terrified of telling my parents. They're both Christians, completely against same-sex relationships. I really don't see how people that are part of a religion that teaches love can hate a group of people so much. Well, my parents at least. My friend has promised that she'll be there when I tell them.
I respect you for the vid, but why; I am a NYer? cant see your point? why NYkers have to let everyone know they are from NY, "I am from NY, dont mess with me" (thats arrogant you know?), To me NY is rude people, stress, a obvious forced tolerance, etc. I am sorry but everytime I go there I see amazingly terrifiying displays if ignorance and intolerance against myself and strangers. this is my opinion and by no means my intention is to offend anyone, just take it into consideration..
Why do people like this waste their time? Nobody cares that youre gay, please just keep it to yourself. It's not natural to be gay and if you are gay, than god help you, faggot.
Wow! I really look up to you. Although I knew full well I was a lesbian at age 12 and far earlier, I didn't have the courage to come out until age 25.
Its really great that you were able to come out in such a loving environment. I have a friend whos parents dont accept that he is gay, so I have seen how hard it can be. I am proud of every person that has the courage to come out. I know it takes a lot. you rock!
I loved that, and I'm so glad I found this and watched it. Homophobia and any type of prejudice is such a terrible thing, and I hope this inspires some bigots out there to think differently. Thank you so much for posting it. :)
Some people are such JERK OFFS!!! Hey New York Minute ~ I'm a fellow NYorker and a mother of a six year old. I hope my son feels that way about me someday. I am a human being too just trying to live in this crazy world. I think it takes all kinds of people to my the world go round. Also, I think you should look into being some type of food critic online with all you great experience.Love watching keep it up.
But we CAN'T change... It's not a choice! you really think we'd choose to be a minority, to be hated by everyone, to be bashed, to have less rights and all that? No one in their right minds would do that. I'd like guys if i could. :/
I dont think so. That takes a hell lotof courage. And also to go and ask someone out who might be straight. To tell your friends. To live with that situation. It takes a lot of courage. And we're damn proud.
ok, so I have cancer and I would say it takes courage to face it, so should I be proud of cancer? I would say its neither to be proud or ashamed of just like if you're gay. By saying "I am proud" of something which you claim isn't your "achievement" but a "born with" thing you are creating a stigma around your own homosexuality.
You know, I used to think there was no homophobia too in my teens, and that's coming from a heterosexual. Then I discovered people who hate gays and was very shocked. It still amazes me how some people can waste so much of their life bashing others just because of their harmless lifestyle. It's quite pathetic. Anyway, great video.
people have no power over us, we are individuals with our own mind and personality, if they don't like the way we look, talk, or think, then they can simply walk away
i dont understand, why do people need there own month because there gay. do the straight people get a month, no. i personally dont hate gays buti dont think they should get special treatment either. if they want to be respected then they should shut up a stop shouting out that your gay. we get it, we dont respect you cause your all whiners. sorry to say it.(copy this and pass it on)
Straight people never were oppressed due to their sexuality. If gay people were treated exactly as straight people, they wouldn't have to come out of the closet to begin with.
It's hard to come out like that to your parents, especially someone as important to you as a mother. You're lucky that you were able to do it when you did, and that she was able to support you through your life.
I know you were probably ready for assholes when you posted this video, but it really is amazing, seeing what these idiots can come up with.
I came out to my family when i was 12, too. And they also said it was okay. . . And my ssiter even jokes about it =P Every time i have a problem with a girlfriend or something she says "oh my god, just go date a guy!" lol.
Yayy! I luff you. And to um "xxxROFLZ" over there? Bitch? Fuck you. It's fine to be homophobis but you've crossed the line and rubbed it in other's faces.
im proud of myself. im proud of the choices ive made in life. im proud of my mistakes, my successes, my growth. im proud of my family-of the friends i grew up with, the one's ive kept, & the new one's that make. im proud of being a new yorker, a lover of banana chips, and proud that i enjoy the simplicity of just walking around-always trying to look at the world in a different way-instead of always taking it for face value. im proud that i question society, my friends, & most importantly-myself
good, because your videos have been doing the same for me :-).
i would bet that you'd be surprised at how many inspiration words of wisdom come out of your mouth throughout your vids, which always seem to reinforce the things i've been learning about myself recently, almost on a daily basis. i think that's why i'm so drawn to your videos. by rooting for you - i find that i've been rooting for myself too. and i think we're doing pretty damn good, don'tcha think?
Im proud to be who I am...and not to change because someone wants me to change..Im proud to be a loving Mother of 3 children,Im proud of being a kind person, helping people when I can..and Im proud to call you my friend...Your wisdom is beyond your years Stacey...Great job:)
great question - I'm proud that I've spent the last few years discovering and celebrating people of size. But I guess I'm most proud I've helped my elderly mom cope with the challenges of living long.
That was a really lovely video. I'm gay and I totally support you. Thanks.

Some fool on here quoted that being gay is evolution........,ok so if everything is homosexual then how will the human race continue to exist??
Homosexuality is a mistake,a flaw , call it a chemical imbalance in the brain or whatever.
There will alway's be more straight people than gay people, gay people will be forever repressed because THAT'S HUMAN NATURE!!

StopFear 4 years ago
Wouldn't you be proud you were FIGHTING cancer?
There's many people out there who don't accept the fact that they're gay and live hiding it.
We don't hide it, and we're proud because we take the risk of being denied, being slapped across the face and being excluded when we say I'M GAY.
If you had cancer, wouldn't you be proud to say "I live and enjoy life EVEN WITH cancer"?

Nice video.

im proud of myself. im proud of the choices ive made in life. im proud of my mistakes, my successes, my growth. im proud of my family-of the friends i grew up with, the one's ive kept, & the new one's that make. im proud of being a new yorker, a lover of banana chips, and proud that i enjoy the simplicity of just walking around-always trying to look at the world in a different way-instead of always taking it for face value. im proud that i question society, my friends, & most importantly-myself

good, because your videos have been doing the same for me :-).
i would bet that you'd be surprised at how many inspiration words of wisdom come out of your mouth throughout your vids, which always seem to reinforce the things i've been learning about myself recently, almost on a daily basis. i think that's why i'm so drawn to your videos. by rooting for you - i find that i've been rooting for myself too. and i think we're doing pretty damn good, don'tcha think?

aNewYorkMinute I think your vid was wonderful, screw this idiot. Some people do their thinking in their fingers and not their brains. Best wishes.

great question - I'm proud that I've spent the last few years discovering and celebrating people of size. But I guess I'm most proud I've helped my elderly mom cope with the challenges of living long.

Pride is ok but it can serve the self too much. Watch Kutless Pride Away song on YouTube You'll see what I mean.
