  • I'm writing a paper about James Carter, so I've been listening to his music for about 48 of the last 72 hours. And yet, at that moment at 1:13, my body got jolted limp and my face hit the keyboard. After listening to SO MUCH of his music, somehow that stuff is still coming out of nowhere and dropping me cold. Unbelievable musical power.

  • This IS the REAL black peoples music, what is with all this shit now days, what happened to true music like this!

  • I almost cried during the tenor solo!

  • in reality this a duo with carter and the bari guy

  • Idk... disagree with me if u want but I'm not really a fan of the tenor sax. there a realy good group... just im not a fan of the tenor sax

  • Idk... disagree with me if u want but I'm not really a fan of the tenor sax.

  • How could anyone put a dislike to this video?!

If you don't like it then why the hell have you listened to part 4.

Can't you just go away, leave us with an untarnished piece of art.

  • Bari Player- Yeah, I setup the beat and I'm a beast

Alto 1(closest to Carter)- Why am I here?

    Alto 2- Oh yeah, well...

Tenor(Mr. James Carter)- Man, I can play...

Band as a whole- Out of this world, amazing!

  • For JC to be able to draw-in the young people like that is truely masterful. Rather than preach jazz to them with his horn (like some jazz artist tend to do), he gave them a musical experience mixed with traditional, advent garde, and humor.

  • he sounded like a duck at around 3:47... but a talented duck :P

  • Comment removed

  • That young lady at 3:31 really got into it.

  • At about 6:05, the tenor kind of sounds like a kettle boiling. xD

Incredible playing by all four of them!

  • james carter is a good player. but he is annoying as fuck. just look at the looks on the other players faces, they are like "yay good for you, you can make your sax sound like a dying duck"

  • @frizzzzzzal

Annoying when you have to play next to him, maybe. Otherwise, "fucking awesome" is a more appropriate description.

  • This Is awesome!!! Carter did good at 2:35!!! That was cool! (I like da Bari)

  • I think that Carter tries to find the most unusal sounds that he can make.

  • @ gettingyoungerone i never said he was if u paid attention and read u wouldve seen that instead of jumping to conclusions and i do play the saxophone and i do know what im talking about and i cant tell the difference apparently u cant cuz there is a bari in that group

  • I just came.

  • What the fuck was that?

James Carter is a Beast. Mind blown.

  • is that even human?

  • My mind was blown at 2:35

James Carter is insane, I want to make sounds like that on my sax

  • @extremesushirolling You might want to learn circular breathing for that

  • ...the alto high notes r easy..but not the bari

  • omg i play the bari and the alto and this is amazing their hitting all those high notes like its easy

  • @hazeleyes010xoxo The on the left with the black cap is playing the TENOR, not the baritone. Do you really play sax - if you do you should be able to tell the difference !

  • I love how james carter plays for the audience!!

  • i play alto ♫ and bari, and well, i never really liked the bari until now..it sounds really awesome..not to metion how awesome the alto always sounds..hah

  • @SoapySuds63 He's playing the TENOR!

  • Does anyone know what the name of this song is? and who its by?

  • I really like the sound that bari player has.

  • @stealthswimmer I really like his glasses too ;)

But yeah, great sound. Really great.

And James Carter is sick on his sax, at the end just using is teeth on his reed to get higher notes out of his sax, and even manage to get them in tune. Pure awesomeness.

  • Wow that tenor can go amazingly high

  • i agre.

  • I'm a big James Carter fan. I love his unpredictable, idiosyncratic style but I think that would have been heaps better if he'd toned it down by 10%! Am I on my own with this thought?

  • I really dont believe in toning it down any percent, even if it is an elementary class audience lol, im a rahsaan roland kirk fan an he pushed those boundaries repeatedly. This is my first time hearing these cats, where can i find more and do they have any albums? I love this shit!

  • @pheron2006 Yes. Yes you are.

  • esta chido su coto!!!

  • they were so happy to play soccor

  • I think James Carter burned off 2 pounds on this song

  • For sure!

  • They are so great! Wish I was there. I'm sorry but the roving camera messed up the video, darn it.

  • james carter will always be the best player alive. his tone sounds a lot like earl bostic when he used to be around.

  • Yeah until he's dead.

  • James Cartes maybe the best tenorI've seen in my life...... 2:38 - 3:23 pure circular breathing. Dam wow......i have no words to explain...how good he is....dammmmmm

  • at the end the kids were sooo glad that at last, now, they can go and play soccer

  • tenor player is intense

    i have that same mouthpiece

but i cant get the squeals

    like that its crazy...

  • tenors rule!!!!!1

  • thats so true...

  • Hierarchy is as follows. Bari, tenor alto. Msybe bass first but to uncommon to place, soprano, I haven't heard them enough to place justifiably.

  • you should hear this tenor play the soprano. it's beastly. He makes it sound like a tenor

  • And he's a killer on bass clarinet too

  • Extrovert would be an understatement for JC! He also raises Hell on "Pick Up The Pieces" on the Phil Collins big band CD!

  • that is educational activities.america......well done

  • Mr James Carter is the best. Great work. CArry on!

  • damn dat tenor is off da chain dat man is crazy i dont wat he did or if there is even a musical term 4 it but its sick damn he's crazy

  • amazing tenor

  • damn i have never seen saxophone players with som much energy and so much passion...the Tener player is amazing!!

  • tenor*

  • WOW, that I call a virtuoso! Cool sound effects! He can sound like a crow, sound like crazy gulls and go up as high in scale as the last keys on the piano! AMAZING! Not really my taste of music or style, but COOL!
