  • I have a 97cc Baja Racer (Same exact model as Dirt bug) and when using the throttle with the clutch off, my engine stalls. Any solutions?

  • @CaptainDuckies

That's strange. I know that will happen with a verticle shaft engine because it need the blade on it to run correctly. That motor may need the weight of the clutch on the end of the shaft the run right. I've never started that motor with the clutch off.

  • @paisteboy Randomly during use when coming to a stop or slowing down my engine will shut off -_-

  • @TheNavigator98

The only save legal place to ride is on private property. But on the clutch, make sure you don't get any of that oil on the clutch itself. Just wear the bolt is on the shaft. The clutch works like a drum brake with pads and if you get oit on them it won't grip and work work until the oil is cleaned off.

  • @paisteboy ok cool thats what I did and thanks

  • @TheNavigator98

First try cleaning the clutch like I show in the video. If that doesn't help then I am going to need more information. Maybe a video response. Thanks watching and Subscribing.

  • well i ran these on my go-cart for years, i never cleaned it i ran it till the spring inside broke

  • @TheBackyardMechanics i oiled it all the time

  • Needserv

  • Hey man cool bike what kind of chain is this

  • @mrunknown1221

    It's a number 35 chain.

  • On my thang, the clutch is located about .75 inches to the right of the one shown in this motion picture. Is that normal?

  • paistyboy i need help. i junked a Honda hrx 217 that's not the point but it is leaking oil really really bad out were the air filter is.

  • what do i do if mine is a db 30 and it start but when i press the throttle it feels like its just shaking and it wont go with me on it i dont no what to do

  • @billyjohnification

Did you try cleaning the cluch?

  • @billyjohnification If you still have that problem, try operating it with the choke in different positions. If the carb needs cleaning, it may not accelerate fully. Moving the choke around to find the spot that works best is a quick fix, on a db30, you need all you can get.

  • your front fender is on backwards

  • @brkillpack1

That's the way it was when I got it and I think it works better that way anyhow. It can catch more dirt and stuff when it is lower at the rear of the tire. Thanks for watching.

  • @brkillpack1 mines on the same way when i bought it

  • Speeddemon241 i had one and it was doing that and i had to change my clutch and after thatit worked fine

  • i like the frame

  • dude please help! how can i build this with wheels from bicycle?

  • kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • on mine i was riding it and everything locked up and stalled insistently y did it do that

  • @speeddemon241

Sounds like your chain popped of and jammed up or if you're talking about the motor itself you probably seized the motor. Did you ever check you oil?

  • @paisteboy i am thinking of making a minibike but i still dont know what use a clutch is and where i could get a good engine and other supplies in Australia?. thanks

  • @paisteboy what is the gear ratio?

  • @paisteboy i found out it was the clutch broke

  • @speeddemon241

Well at least that's cheaper than a new motor.

  • i hate my mini bike

  • I bought one of these for $25 and its only a two years old an nothing wrong with it (:

  • my doodle bug leaks oil fro somewere idk were from but it does... i dont think that since its flipped multiple times down a hill is helping much either

  • is that the 2.2 horse ?

  • @DillinWebster

It still had the stock 2.8 hp in this video.

  • @uuukay but shipping is making it like $350.

  • these things kind of stink because they say that its an off road bike but it isn't. I got a dirt bike that is 10 dollars more and it can go 30 minimum.

  • when i start my doodlebug it makes a wierd noise and wants to take of on its own but then i give it gas and it stalls so what is the problem

  • @1999151

Do what I show you in this video. It should take care of that problem.

  • @1999151 the float may be set to high

  • IS THIS WORTH BUYING BECAUSE I AM PUTTING 1 ON LAYAWAY IS IT WORTH IT IT COSTS 299$

  • @jjjj4417

I saw it on sale at Ollie's for $199 last week, but $299 really isn't bad for a complete minibike. Look around for the best price. You can do the doodle beast motor change (6.5 HP) for around 150 bucks at a later date too for more power and speed.

  • @jjjj4417 yes they are asome but they have the litl squroo on the botom of them that is NOT in the oners manyel but it is a fillups and soket loosn that all just abawt all the way up and it will fly

  • THATS THE BEST BEST RIDING SUIT IVE SEEN IN MY LIFE!!!!! XD

  • @TheMrmattpizza78

    Thanks for watching.

  • @IIIMaseIII

    Are you sure it's not 3/4" or 1" bore? I can't find one with a 7/8" bore.

  • hay this is an quistion i have. i have the same baja and no governor and its pulls me up the hills on assphalt but not grass what gives?

  • @boombob10

There is a lot more resistance on grass than asphalt. You need more power.

  • take ur govenor out i have one of these u will do so much faster

  • @jdogballer23

The screw is unscrewed all the way but it doesn't matter because I made it a doodle beast last year with the 6.5 HP motor. Thanks for watching.

  • lol i keep on thinking ur gunna crash into the camera tripod

  • @coltanrulzalot

Haha. I can see how it might look like it. Thanks for watching.

  • He warped time again at 2:38!

  • @mdytmhgd

Yeah. I was just cutting out film without any action. Thanks for watching.

  • i was going to buy one but it was $300 at pepboys and that was to much for a mini bike with a 2.8 hp so i went to craigslist and i found a mini bike with a 5.5 honda clone engine you should check out my video

  • no he dosent because look at the blue decails there on the right way and fenders are always bigger in the back

  • wow must be a really shit clutch if you have to clean the dust paritcals from the housing

  • I might get one from pepboys :)

  • yeah thats way slow compaired to your new 6.5, that clutch is it auto? so you dont have to engage manually.

  • @Rotaswagga

    Yes, it's a centrifugal clutch.

  • um mine keeps making this wierd buzzing noise when i have the back tire down and if i lift it up the chain and back tire are moving as if im giving it some gas and if i keep it down the engine shuts off unless i intentionally give it gas so any ideas what it could be

  • @myrtinrogue19

Did you try cleaning the clutch and lubricating the bearing? That's all it was on mine.

  • @paisteboy Yea haha i figured it out like 5 minutes after i posted the first comment

  • at 2:08 he warped the space time continuem

  • @niemaya

    I'm good like that. lol

  • at 2:11 he warped the space time continuem

  • they have been being returned to kmart cuz of gas leaks

  • @thegarbear05

That's an old recall. They must have old stock. They redisigned them now.

  • is it ok if the mini bike gets wet like if i wash it with a graden hose of if i go in mud ???????

  • @stevenxbox360playsta

Sure. Just make sure you don't get water in the air filter or exhaust, then lube the chain and clutch bearing after it dries. I would also wait for the engine to cool before washing, but that's me.

  • why is there no neutral?

  • @MacsCanfly

It doesn't need a neutral. As long as you don't get the RPM's up high enough to engage the clutch it is just like being in neutral.

  • dude thanks for the info...i needed it :)

  • @rustlervxldude98

    Glad it helped.

  • @paisteboy one question tho...do u lube it behind the washer on the bolt?

  • @rustlervxldude98 its easyer to take the snap ring that holds the drum on off and then oil the bearing which involve taking the chain off

  • @mortie806 i have the kind with no snap ring...

  • i seen ur minibike videos and i gotta say u give good instructions and ur videos are good... i also seen the problem ur having with ur doodlebug tire,ur better off putting a slick tire on ur bike. those slick tires last forever.... i use to have a regular tire on my minibike and i use to have to buy a new tire every 2 weeks.. now that i have my slick tire on my bike i never had to get another tire again... and for the brakes u should put a peace of medal that rubs on the tire.. i have i

  • @gotenz90640

Thanks. If I get a slick it won't ride good off road. The original tire has lasted 3 years since I don't ride it much. I'll proably just get a really good off road tire for it and a hidraulic brake for the rear wheel. Thanks for watching.

  • @paisteboy i hate the orignal motor

  • i just got one,,takes off slow but gets going good,,

  • are they fast,slow,or ok?

  • aw man i didnt know this :( i actually lubes inside the clutch it self and now the bike is unridable x(

  • @NASTYTHEBOY

You need to get some break cleaner and spay all of that oil out of the clutch. The clutch works a lot like brake shoes, so it can't grip if there is oil on the pads. Don't forget to oil the clutch bearing when you done.

  • @paisteboy yeah i figured that out after not being able to ride 3 feet :], thanx ;D i love your doodle beast :D

  • @paisteboy a little childish for a grown man, eh?

  • @Mightylite94

    Thanks for watching anyway.

  • @paisteboy i gave the vid a thumbs up anyway

  • how do u check the oil. I never know how much i need to put in or if i even have enough in it

  • why are you wearing a helmet?

  • @YamahaATVMudder

If I wear a helmet I get asked, why are you wearing a helmet? If I don't wear one I get asked, Why aren't you wearing a helmet? For safety when I want to.

  • @paisteboy its a mini bike i dont wear one when i ride mine but however i wear one when i am on my quad

  • @YamahaATVMudder

You can get hurt on a minibike even though I tend not to wear one anyway.

  • @paisteboy i know the ive worst i got is when i was going about 30 my chain fell off got under the tire and threw me off i got a small cut thats it no helmet

  • @YamahaATVMudder

My wife road the Doodle Beast with the 6.5 HP motor for the first time yesterday. I told her to take it easy and that it was much more powerful and faster than with the stock motor. Too bad I didn't have my video camera going... She crashed because she couldn't handle the power. Luckily she fell in the grass because she was on the side walk moments before. She scrapped up her arm a little and her shoulder hurts today. No helmet. She got lucky this time. Ride safe.

  • where can you get a cheap baja mini bike? 100-250?

  • @tatertotjrdude

I purchased mine in 2008 for 250 at Pep Boys. The last time I was there they were 300. Northern tool has it for 260 new.

  • @paisteboy kmart has them 4 300 the red ones

  • @tatertotjrdude yes look on craiglist

  • Comment removed

  • @tatertotjrdu: you can get one mini bike at sears for 274$

  • there is a recall on them

  • @8tyman8

    Why is there a recall?

  • @paisteboy fuel cap leeks / throttle linkeg sticks wide open go to the baja web site

  • @8tyman8

Thanks. The gas cap sucked from day one. I noticed that. I would only fill the tank half way to cut back on the leakage. But I haven't had any problems with the throttle sticking at all. The new 6.5 HP engine that I put on the DB has the same shitty gas cap that leaks. China does not pay attention to detail not to mention the American company that they are building it for.

  • @paisteboy yea i tried to get one in pep boys and there recalled luckily i went to sears and the guy that workd there orderd me the last one online

  • @resdes213

Cool. I hope they ship it. Baja Motorsports will fix these minor problems and then sell another million of them.

  • how do u get one?

  • @girlsc8te

I got it at Pep Boys back in 2008.

  • how fast does this go? and are they ok to drive on side walks? i live in washington

  • @NaiJorJul

The stock mini bike does between 20 to 25 MPH depending on your wieght. Technically it's illegal to ride a motorized minibike on the sidewalk. That's going to depend on your nieghborhood and your nieghbors themselves.

  • what size is the clutch???

  • @gangstapanda102

I think the original clutch is a 5/8" shaft, but I'm not positive.

  • i got a doodle bug from pepboys, and the second day i had it it would make a grinding noise then cut itself off. i put the right amount of oil into it and gas, but it would still do it, WHAT DO I DO?!?!?! please help

  • @gangstapanda102

It sounds like a dirty clutch but you said that it's brand new. I would still start by cleaning the clutch if that doesn't clear it up check out your pull start. Thanks for watching.

  • u have the front fender on backwards

  • @minibikestudios

I never looked at it closely. That's the way it was on the bike when I got it and I actually think it works better in the orientation that it is on now. The dirt and mud come from the bottom up so the lower the fender is in the the back of the front tire the more dirt and mud it will catch. Maybe they put the stickers on the wrong way? Good eye though.

  • @paisteboy thanks. you have a point there though.

  • @paisteboy don't use the bike in the dirt or mud it werks the hell out of the clutch sooo either don't use it on dirt or get a better clutch cover

  • @Bajarocks8675

i put a 6.5 HP engine on mine with a new clutch.

  • @minibikestudios hahahah yah he does but this in turn blocks water from comming up into your face which i have had happen on a few occasions i have also added another rear bumper onto the back of mine to stop water from spinning onto my back !

  • Hi,

Do you know how to remove the clutch on the doodlebug?

    thanks

  • @socomsoc12

Yes, first remove the bolt that is screwed into the shaft of the motor that is at the end of the clutch, then loosen the set screw and the clutch should slide off.

  • @paisteboy But when i try to remove that bolt the whole shaft just moves

  • @socomsoc12

You have to either wedge something behind the clutch to keep it from moving or see if you can just hold it with one hand while you loosen it with the other. The bolt shouldn't be too tight.

  • @paisteboy ok thanks, and do you know the shaft size of the engine?

  • @socomsoc12

Not off hand, but I would say either 1/2" or 5/8".

  • @Just2VietBoys

It can a little but i don't think it will do to great in mud. The tires slip pretty good even on moist grass.

  • @Just2VietBoys

Yes I still make videos. I am a Partner now too. I put a 6.5 HP engine on mine to make it faster.

I plan on making some more Doodle Beast videos soon, but I have a small yard and it's tuff to do anything interesting. I recorded a video of me jumping the doodle beast last week but the jump that I build at the last minute was so small that it looked stupid and I didn't post it. Let me know what you want to see.

    Paisteboy

  • Thanks man

  • how fast did you go on it

  • @ALIOOOOOOOH

With the stock engine it went about 25 MPH

With the 6.5 HP engine that I have now it goes about 45 MPH.

Check out my Doodle beast Video series.

  • @tyleryman

It was 250 bucks new in 2008

  • my friend has one and they break alot

  • wow that kid has a beard

  • da MAAAAAANUAL xD

  • I just bought one just like that and mine seems way slower the that

  • @06scotto08

You know what will help with that.... Check out my video on "How to adjust the throttle adjustment screw on a Baja Doodle bug Minibike " video

  • what happend at 2:08

  • @firexman45

I never noticed that. It looks funny if you pause it at 2:08. Looks like it was a glitch in the rendering or something. I didn't do that intentionally. Thanks for watching.

  • how fast does it go ?

  • @bmxBilly1356

With the stock engine it went about 25 MPH

With the 6.5 HP engine that I have now it goes about 45 MPH.

Check out my Doodle beast Video series.

  • Hey, thanks for the info! Rides a lot smoother than before. Does your chain rattle a lot against the frame? My bike's chain keeps hitting the frame, like it bounces up and down. Do you know how to fix that? I've tried tightening the chain but nothing.

  • @butterknife130

It's probably bouncing off the chain gaurd. Tightening the chain is all I can think to do unless you raise the chain gaurd alitlle bit,

    Thanks for watching.

    Paisteboy

  • just wondering... does it go up hills for you... how big are the hills?

  • @legoman6000

With the original engine it doesn't go up hills very well at all for me. With the 6.5 HP engine it has way more power and should do quite well on hills. Check out my Doodle Beast videos if you haven't already

    Thanks for watching.

  • did u pinch the govornor

  • @LiveToBike9

What do you mean, did u pinch the governor?

  • @paisteboy i mean like take it off or mod it to get more rpm for more speed/power

  • @LiveToBike9

On that engine I adjusted the srew all the way, but if you've watched any of my other videos you'll see that i made a series where I change the engine to a 6.5 HP.

    Thanks for watching.

  • hey thats a nice bike. would u know how much it ways?

  • @danny2278

I'd guess it weighs about 75 pounds.

  • dose this uses gasoline

  • @TheRub45

    the engine runs on gasoline

  • how much did it cost you?

  • @TheRub45

    the minibike was $250

  • Do you know what Size of Shaft the Motor Has? I Dont know if its in the Owners Manual because I didn't get one.

  • @w1ldyovvnz: I believe it's a 1/2" shaft. The new engine I just bought has a 3/4" shaft and the baja clutch doesn't fit. Just got the new clutch for the new engine today.

  • i got the same one what will happen if you don't lubricate will it not last at long?

  • Thanks for the comment. I'll be taking the clutch off today because I am putting a 6.5 HP engine on the doodle bug. I'll clean it up when I take it off.

  • Where can I get this Doodlebug mini bike from?

  • I bought mine at Pep Boys.

  • yeh get these only if you want to keep paying 15 dollars for new throttle cables ive replaced it 3 times, but besides that its good

  • you dont need to spend $15 when my cables break i buy 4 dollar bike cables

  • yeh i fgured out that i can goto dicks and buy a cable that fits, i did try to by a break cable to a bike for 5 dollars and it wasnt long enough so i bougt the baja cable

  • sell it plz

  • so do you make it go rthat fast

  • yes

  • how do you make it go faster

  • follow the throttle cable and find a the set screw for the throttle u can in screw it to let more gas in mine goes fucking fast for 97cc
