That's strange. I know that will happen with a verticle shaft engine because it need the blade on it to run correctly. That motor may need the weight of the clutch on the end of the shaft the run right. I've never started that motor with the clutch off.
The only save legal place to ride is on private property. But on the clutch, make sure you don't get any of that oil on the clutch itself. Just wear the bolt is on the shaft. The clutch works like a drum brake with pads and if you get oit on them it won't grip and work work until the oil is cleaned off.
First try cleaning the clutch like I show in the video. If that doesn't help then I am going to need more information. Maybe a video response. Thanks watching and Subscribing.
what do i do if mine is a db 30 and it start but when i press the throttle it feels like its just shaking and it wont go with me on it i dont no what to do
@billyjohnification If you still have that problem, try operating it with the choke in different positions. If the carb needs cleaning, it may not accelerate fully. Moving the choke around to find the spot that works best is a quick fix, on a db30, you need all you can get.
That's the way it was when I got it and I think it works better that way anyhow. It can catch more dirt and stuff when it is lower at the rear of the tire. Thanks for watching.
@paisteboy i am thinking of making a minibike but i still dont know what use a clutch is and where i could get a good engine and other supplies in Australia?. thanks
my doodle bug leaks oil fro somewere idk were from but it does... i dont think that since its flipped multiple times down a hill is helping much either
these things kind of stink because they say that its an off road bike but it isn't. I got a dirt bike that is 10 dollars more and it can go 30 minimum.
I saw it on sale at Ollie's for $199 last week, but $299 really isn't bad for a complete minibike. Look around for the best price. You can do the doodle beast motor change (6.5 HP) for around 150 bucks at a later date too for more power and speed.
@jjjj4417 yes they are asome but they have the litl squroo on the botom of them that is NOT in the oners manyel but it is a fillups and soket loosn that all just abawt all the way up and it will fly
i was going to buy one but it was $300 at pepboys and that was to much for a mini bike with a 2.8 hp so i went to craigslist and i found a mini bike with a 5.5 honda clone engine you should check out my video
um mine keeps making this wierd buzzing noise when i have the back tire down and if i lift it up the chain and back tire are moving as if im giving it some gas and if i keep it down the engine shuts off unless i intentionally give it gas so any ideas what it could be
Sure. Just make sure you don't get water in the air filter or exhaust, then lube the chain and clutch bearing after it dries. I would also wait for the engine to cool before washing, but that's me.
i seen ur minibike videos and i gotta say u give good instructions and ur videos are good... i also seen the problem ur having with ur doodlebug tire,ur better off putting a slick tire on ur bike. those slick tires last forever.... i use to have a regular tire on my minibike and i use to have to buy a new tire every 2 weeks.. now that i have my slick tire on my bike i never had to get another tire again... and for the brakes u should put a peace of medal that rubs on the tire.. i have i
Thanks. If I get a slick it won't ride good off road. The original tire has lasted 3 years since I don't ride it much. I'll proably just get a really good off road tire for it and a hidraulic brake for the rear wheel. Thanks for watching.
You need to get some break cleaner and spay all of that oil out of the clutch. The clutch works a lot like brake shoes, so it can't grip if there is oil on the pads. Don't forget to oil the clutch bearing when you done.
If I wear a helmet I get asked, why are you wearing a helmet? If I don't wear one I get asked, Why aren't you wearing a helmet? For safety when I want to.
@paisteboy i know the ive worst i got is when i was going about 30 my chain fell off got under the tire and threw me off i got a small cut thats it no helmet
My wife road the Doodle Beast with the 6.5 HP motor for the first time yesterday. I told her to take it easy and that it was much more powerful and faster than with the stock motor. Too bad I didn't have my video camera going... She crashed because she couldn't handle the power. Luckily she fell in the grass because she was on the side walk moments before. She scrapped up her arm a little and her shoulder hurts today. No helmet. She got lucky this time. Ride safe.
Thanks. The gas cap sucked from day one. I noticed that. I would only fill the tank half way to cut back on the leakage. But I haven't had any problems with the throttle sticking at all. The new 6.5 HP engine that I put on the DB has the same shitty gas cap that leaks. China does not pay attention to detail not to mention the American company that they are building it for.
The stock mini bike does between 20 to 25 MPH depending on your wieght. Technically it's illegal to ride a motorized minibike on the sidewalk. That's going to depend on your nieghborhood and your nieghbors themselves.
i got a doodle bug from pepboys, and the second day i had it it would make a grinding noise then cut itself off. i put the right amount of oil into it and gas, but it would still do it, WHAT DO I DO?!?!?! please help
It sounds like a dirty clutch but you said that it's brand new. I would still start by cleaning the clutch if that doesn't clear it up check out your pull start. Thanks for watching.
I never looked at it closely. That's the way it was on the bike when I got it and I actually think it works better in the orientation that it is on now. The dirt and mud come from the bottom up so the lower the fender is in the the back of the front tire the more dirt and mud it will catch. Maybe they put the stickers on the wrong way? Good eye though.
@minibikestudios hahahah yah he does but this in turn blocks water from comming up into your face which i have had happen on a few occasions i have also added another rear bumper onto the back of mine to stop water from spinning onto my back !
Yes, first remove the bolt that is screwed into the shaft of the motor that is at the end of the clutch, then loosen the set screw and the clutch should slide off.
You have to either wedge something behind the clutch to keep it from moving or see if you can just hold it with one hand while you loosen it with the other. The bolt shouldn't be too tight.
Yes I still make videos. I am a Partner now too. I put a 6.5 HP engine on mine to make it faster.
I plan on making some more Doodle Beast videos soon, but I have a small yard and it's tuff to do anything interesting. I recorded a video of me jumping the doodle beast last week but the jump that I build at the last minute was so small that it looked stupid and I didn't post it. Let me know what you want to see.

With the original engine it doesn't go up hills very well at all for me. With the 6.5 HP engine it has way more power and should do quite well on hills. Check out my Doodle Beast videos if you haven't already
On that engine I adjusted the srew all the way, but if you've watched any of my other videos you'll see that i made a series where I change the engine to a 6.5 HP.
@w1ldyovvnz: I believe it's a 1/2" shaft. The new engine I just bought has a 3/4" shaft and the baja clutch doesn't fit. Just got the new clutch for the new engine today.
Thanks for the comment. I'll be taking the clutch off today because I am putting a 6.5 HP engine on the doodle bug. I'll clean it up when I take it off.
yeh i fgured out that i can goto dicks and buy a cable that fits, i did try to by a break cable to a bike for 5 dollars and it wasnt long enough so i bougt the baja cable
I have a 97cc Baja Racer (Same exact model as Dirt bug) and when using the throttle with the clutch off, my engine stalls. Any solutions?

With the original engine it doesn't go up hills very well at all for me. With the 6.5 HP engine it has way more power and should do quite well on hills. Check out my Doodle Beast videos if you haven't already
Thanks for watching.

On that engine I adjusted the srew all the way, but if you've watched any of my other videos you'll see that i made a series where I change the engine to a 6.5 HP.

Do you know what Size of Shaft the Motor Has? I Dont know if its in the Owners Manual because I didn't get one.
w1ldyovvnz 2 years ago
@w1ldyovvnz: I believe it's a 1/2" shaft. The new engine I just bought has a 3/4" shaft and the baja clutch doesn't fit. Just got the new clutch for the new engine today.

i got the same one what will happen if you don't lubricate will it not last at long?
bkstuntin1 2 years ago
Thanks for the comment. I'll be taking the clutch off today because I am putting a 6.5 HP engine on the doodle bug. I'll clean it up when I take it off.
