This car is awesome thank you for the detailed tour. its hard to find out what they look like close up and what certain things do when your a few thousand miles away from any. The window feature is really cool and the km to ml. How much do these cost usually?
Man you have a nice car!! I hope to find one of these myself!! My aunt had the 1989 Signature that was burgundy and I fell in love with that car!! I hate she sold it, but it was sold to her friend who put the wrong gas in it and messed up the engine, she sold it before I had a chance to say I wanted to buy it and restore it, smh! :(
thanks alot, i recently bought a 1984 lincoln continental with the keyless entry key pad & i too didn't know the combo...i read your helpful comment & ran outside, popped the trunk & on the inside of the passagers side trunk hinge i found a white sticker that read "32845" ... thats alot : )
What a beaut! I once owned an 88 baby blue signature series. Loaded just like yours with the digital dash, moonroof and all, but you didn't mention the auto dimming highbeams that sensed oncoming traffic and dimmed the highbeam headlights for you, does yours have that feature? I loved that feature, I wish they still offered it on autos.
I gotta get the keypad replaced in mine cause it looks kinda obvious as to which buttons are pressed, also gotta get the code changed if that's possible :)
I have a 91 Mustang GT in mint condition and my friend DJ had one of these and I gave my mom my mustang just so she would buy me his lincoln lol. true story
i own a 1989 lincoln continental that is in pretty great condition, however my buddy hates lincolns and says i should sell it befor it falls apart on me i think he hates all the old luxury cars especially cadilac
Beautiful car, man. I've always wanted a Lincoln Town Car after one of my favorite movie characters drove one. I always preferred the early 90's models, but that one you have there is absolutely beautiful. Thanks for posting!
i had that option for my buick park avenue 86. though my dad didnt get it. i guess it would be faster to opent he door with a key then punching numbers? lol
Thanx for the reply...ive been kinda thinking about getting one of these Lincoln Town Car Signature Series with digital dash and digital trip computer etc but a few people told me not because of trouble with the digital dash etc...they said it looks kool while its working but then it can be expensive when it quites because they always do...what do you think? I have a chance to get a regualr Town car or do you think the Signature series is worth the wait? Thanx
Yea I went on ahead and got a 1988 Town Car with analog dash on Feb 4th 2009 with pretty good miles for the year. Body is really nice and is silver with the 3 quarter gray landau top. The interior is black or charcoal. Runs prety good too and wonderful to drive! I only paid like $1,500 it and hope to keep it for awhile
it could be one of the fuses. on my lincoln the speedometer, odometer, gas gauge, trip computer, the digital stuff would go out. i had to replace the fuse about three times, now nothing goes out. the problem could come back though
sweet car, my Grand Father has an 81 Lincoln Town car like that signature series, marine blue with the 400cid such a nice car no winter driver he has another lincoln for the winter lol a black 2 door
Yeah my dashboard was the same, but I never had any problems with it. The only thing on the trip computer that didn't work was the average speed which always read 1 or 2 mph. The inst/avg fuel economy function averaged about 12 mpg but when I averaged it manually I was really getting about 14.5. What is going on with yours?
Hey man I used to have one of these. Open your trunk and look on the right trunk hinge and there should be a little white sticker with 5 numbers on it. That's your door code. I dont know if you've already looked there for it or not but if not you should. Assuming it hasn't been removed you'll be able to use your door code.
same exact interior as my dads 86 lincoln but without the didgital dash and moonroof, doesn't have it anymore "miss riding in it" but would like to find one for myself, thanks for posting
beautiful cars!...I have a 1984 Signature 302. I don't have a digital dash or moonroof though..... I got "remote" mirrors and alloys. Great to drive eh? Un-real milage for big cars though....I am getting 16MPG - 24MPG in a car that I love to drive!! AND IT'S NOT A CIVIC!!! Take care of her buddy!
Cheers from Ontario!
P.s (I like the size of the back seat too...hehe!)
Oh, the Lincoln brings back some memories for me! I was only 17 or 18, and dating my boss, who had a 1970 Lincoln, and boy o boy, did I feel like the "Cat's Meow" when he would let me drive it! Your car is a real beauty, and probably rides and drives like a dream! (I couldn't afford to keep gas in it tho! lol!)
the code for the keyless entry is either on the arm of the truck when you open it or inside the driver door panel. i am almost positive it is on the inside door panel of the driver door on a black relay. it is a 5 digit code
No problem. My 95 Town Car had it on the passenger side trunk lid arm too and that is why I assumed it was there. I'm surprised Ford has put those codes in the same place for years.
what gas mileage do you average?

On wikipedia the Lincoln Town Car's timeline stops on 2009. Does that mean that they're discontinuing them? I hope not because I love these cars.

gee i hope they dont

I think it's wrong because I googled 2010 Lincoln Town Cars and pictures did come up.

Hey SWEEEET ride! I love the late 80's Town cars. especially the front end. Sharp!! Classy.
I've got a 94 TC, 350Kms still running great.
I run an electronics shop, and have had trouble with my digital trip computer thingy, but it wasn't to hard to fix.
noelhiscott2 2 years ago 3
it wasnt hard? so i dont have to replace the instrment cluster?
peterbilt31 2 years ago
They seem to plug up with dirt, and most of the failure is due to cold - bad solder connections on board components inside the unit.

I'm working for the money to buy one that's for sale right now actually and I would love to ask you two questions.
1. Does it have no feel power stearing?
2. Does it's large size make it seem akward to drive?
PsychoOfThePast 3 years ago
Hi and thanks! Yes it does have the no feel power steering and actually its pretty easy to drive. Get it if you can you wont be sorry.

ah ya i think those early 80s had some chrome on the dash board like the radio area and suck if im not mistaken.
peterbilt31 3 years ago
Yeah my dashboard was the same, but I never had any problems with it. The only thing on the trip computer that didn't work was the average speed which always read 1 or 2 mph. The inst/avg fuel economy function averaged about 12 mpg but when I averaged it manually I was really getting about 14.5. What is going on with yours?
