For this to work it needs to be configured to account for the difference between the speed of light and the speed of sound, the distance your eyes and also your ears are from the object and for a super accurate reading it needs to measure the air pressure. Nice idea though.

You are talking nano-seconds here... I'm afraid the NXT has a accuracy of less then a milli-second though...

Here is how you tell:

Screen>Eyes=Almost Instantaneous.

Speaker>Ears=~1ms*[feet away from the speaker].

This looks like it calculates reflexes, but this is an interesting idea.

Ahhh, good point! Well, when you do this you will hear a buzzer and the delay time will be increased by some extra random number of seconds. These seconds start counting after you released the button. So when you hold it down you will have no score at all.

Yes it is. The complete NXT set has also some examples to do just that. Check mu NXT Chip Unit for example. I found the complete NXT kit valuable. But every one has to make his mind up for himself.

@lv0404 Thanks! Also, do you think if I get one I should get the BlueTooth dongle or is the USB cable supplied enough? Is there any difference? Like, do I have to have my NXT plugged in to my computer all the time while it's on, or only for syncing the files?

The advantage of the bluetooth dongle is that you do not need to connect the cable every time you want to update your program in the NXT. When your program is 100% okay you do not need the cable any longer and you can turn off your computer if you want. I found that connecting the cable every time is sometimes a hassle because I could not reach the NXT that easy in some of my models.

@lv0404 Not everyone has the brain for programming... You need a good sense of logic. I know what I'm talking about. Trying to teach programming classes as optional classes to people in other fields of study showed me that fact. Students struggling to understand the concept of a for loop or even variables.

eyes would win, light travels faster than sound.

But your brain might take diffrent times for diffrent types.

i know you kinda stated this, but just cause light travelsfaster than sound, they still travel incredibly fast, and wont really make a difference in he reaction time

yeah the diffrence at the scale here would be smaller than mille-seconds if you timed the light and the sound.
