They disagree on some issues, but I think there's enough common ground on the major issues that they would be able to work on together. Nader and Paul both are strongly anti-war, and both are against bailing out financial institutions at the expense of the public. Nader would also mitigate Paul's ideas of cutting social safety nets. I think we should work to getting things done, as opposed to being grounded in ideology.

It's different from what the US founders had in mind, really, because the Founding Fathers believed in reasonable and balanced government regulation to ensure freedom and fairness, Libertarianism is a bit in the opposite direction and is based on the idea that the people should take care of their own problems as much as possible and that government should intervene as little as possible.

@69AfroThunda69 So in conclusion, the US founded on the belief that you could exist with government provided the government had the best interests of the public in mind. Libertarianism argues that this is an impossibility because the government would eventually become corrupt no matter how good the intentions were, so the best way to avert this is to limit government and let people handle their own affairs as much as possible, but NOT to the point of anarchy or any nonsense like that.
