you can show this to me on and on again ....... i was in college then as a fresh man and my mentor eto used to teach us how to break ... in his words ...make it electrical when you break.
Listen peeps the best Bboy film back in the day was Electro Rock from the UK,I've posted this many times and nobody's replied, has nobody seen it,just curious.
Man, I love this track, It's awesome!! I think what people forget is, that this song is NOT hip hop, it's a true soul tune with a hip hop edge!! I am lead singer and MD of a professional funk soul band, soul-nation.co.uk and I'm seriously considering putting this in our setlist! I've got the film on DVD and I havent watched it for ages and listening to this, I'm gonna put in on!! See ya :-)
how sad im i have been in a club for over 10 years im a previous modern ballet dancer i cry when i listen to this music nothing like it today music is garbage nothing but crap crap and make me sick no dance no lyrics and no quality of people something had died in me for ever and can never be replace we used to compete on all these music now i wish there is a law can crack down on this new hip hop and rap
@Amandamoo73 go guys to mp3raid.com and download it i have and download everything for free the best place in the world and is truly for free , nothing like the 80 is gone so my happiness
I Love This Ollie And Jerry 1984 Hit, "Breakin'... There's No Stopping Us," Which Became The #1 Dance Hit In America, And It Would Play On Sirius XM's The 80's On 8, Sirius XM's Heart And Soul, Music Choice's The 80's, Music Choice's Throwback Jamz, Music Choice's R&B Classics, Music Choice's Party Favorites, Music Choice's R&B Soul, America's True Oldies Radio Channel, WCBS-FM's 101.1, WRKS-FM's 98.7 Kiss-FM, WKTU-FM's 103.5, WEZN-FM's Star 99.9, WBLS-FM's 107.5, And Many More...
@italianoval Hey, you can get it on Spotify. And if you want to record it off Spotify, get hold of Replay Music to rip it in real time. If you have a problem, contact me and I will email you the mp3.
This certainly brings back fond memories when i was in my 1st year at high school at Ndera ,breaking dancing in the dormitory with TROY WARWICK,BEAU KEANE ,CRAIG ALBRISH ,BEN NYAUMWE at Ndera in1985.It still sounds as sweet as ever,Beautiful ,timeless ,classic musdic.Bravo OLLIE &JERRY !
this fantastic song reminds me on my beautiful childhood. I even got for free this record [it came as a free attachment to colour newspapers here in Belgrade / Serbia]. rapping, breakdancing, swimmingpools, video games and flippers in loona parks ;) I even watched the movie :)
What I remember in HollandL This was the sweet and friendly huge Hip Hop hit of 1984, but the tough guys chose for Beatstreet..which was all that Breakdance was not, much more on the dark side...
And so...both movies kept each other perfectly in balance. They both represented a part of the 80's that was so characteristic for that decade. Fun and joy, but also a more realistic view on the streets, and it's culture..
What i remember is that back in da day, we had a place called skate ranch in santa ana and pop n taco and crazy legs showed up. place went wild, I was wearing my nike sweat suit. I was never really good at breaking, maybe at poppin and locking, but breakin was truely an art. One of them was break dancing with crutches, I will never forget that day. Thats how close I came to actually meeting some of the guys from the movie breakin. If your from santa ana , u know what I mean. Skate Ranch
Now lets attempt to bridge the generations...Could Rock Steady Crew compete against Diversity Crew (UK), Quest Crew (USA), Justice Crew (AUS) under the conditions of routine form dancing ? I wont even bring JBWKZ in this conversation as an example coz they are on a whole new level of choreography by themselves...Anyways watch the ending of Breakin! Because that was a revelation in theatre...
@wecliquetoo see dude,ur making my point...its not about a point system its about getting out there and showing ur talent and loving the art. corporations have taken the art for profit. next you will have to have a college degree to teach the art. now its "choreography" can any b-boy crew come off the corner and perform in the MGM or theater without being judged by some guy with a degree?
@wecliquetoo we create the 'arts' then corporations take it give it a new name like "jazz" was transformed to 'alternative jazz" "contemporary jazz' etc. they are doing this to "Breakin' how does some of these judges qualify to rate break talent who dont break or has never been a breaker? make no mistake no matter how they try to distance JBWKZ from breakin and give them a new genre it was born in the ghetto.
@225masterblaster The word I havent read about is "mainstream acceptance" my fren...For years this pop culture has been in the doldrums for all due respect...For the first time in history all of the worlds best crews who may have or may not have grown up on the streets will converge @ MGM for the UBC-International...Im headed to work so we can converse on the topic later..peace.
@225masterblaster From the ghetto or not...wouldnt anyone in their right mind try to improve their situation, if u have a talent or gift utilize it, share it...In the longrun---Only an idiot works for free & thats the truth.....Same situation at Rucker Park -NYC you cant blame "play-ground" legend Skip to My Lou for joining the NBA..
Just do what you can to enjoy the music, movies and TV shows from that time.
These days, the fashions are the same as what we wore back then. The pastel polo shirts for men and women, (I love men in pastel shirts!), girls wearing leggings under short dresses or long tops, "jelly shoes" (rubbery/plastic shoes) neon colors...many more. Check out some 80s themed sites and you'll see more of what I mean. :-)
@FatedRaver Actually their is a group of young who does get it..And has revolutionized hip-hop dancing..Jabbawockeez headline their very own show at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas..Move over Cirque Solei shows, Jabbawockeez are taking over the Strip.
@225masterblaster Ahh! To get where no crew has ventured ever, takes alot of soul...Jabbawockeez will be around forever...Rockstar status.....Hardest working crew on this planet...Their mus.i.c. show is taking over the theatrical scene & what musicals will eventually be like, since May every show has sold out--viewing audience is world class & from all walks of life NOT JUST THE DANCE COMMUNITY!...Young Pioneers...Theirs no stopping them..
@wecliquetoo i havent heard of them until now, i looked them up and to be honest wasnt feelin' them. they are not pioneers crews like the Rock Steady Crew are the pioneers. all walks of life? nahhh... its about culture u cant have depth without the black and brown people not being added
@225masterblaster Thats okay the rest of the world feels them & their message to inspire the world to dance....Yet it was great to see Micheal Boogaloo Shrimp Chambers at their MGM-Grand premiere.....Just my opinon...Pioneers yes they are...They are revolutionizing the arts & theatre as we know it..They arent back-up dancers to a singer or band..THEY ARE THE SHOW!
@wecliquetoo lol i understand why u support them, but if the real ghetto doesnt support you it wont last. and the MGM is not the validation to success, u dont get it, when ur embraced in the hood then you have made it. when u see little ghetto kids wearing their shirts then u made it, when u see the craze 4 them in 3rd world countries then u made it. the "pop" generation see success as doing MGM
@225masterblaster Crews of this type are begining to pop up everywhere not just in da usa hood. But the hoods in Singapore, Taiwan, Budapest, Moscow, London, Waipahu..Ive been around sports & entertainment my whole life an I will say the ol sckool battling reminds me in contrast of highschool or college wrestling duals..Ultimately it is an individual sport (art), points are awarded to great individual routines or duals as in wrestling..Of course the squad crew or team with highest point totalwin
@wecliquetoo see this is the dis connect with real hip hop.its about cardboard boxes, fat shoe laces, and the urban culture on the sidewalk being loved, not just dancing in front of rich people with tight ties and expensive dresses. but this is something everyone cant grasp.
The moves in this film are still amazing even today, back then hiphop was fresh and exciting. All of the mystique and fun has evaporated out of hiphop now, its all about money and thats where the whole world is going down the wrong path. Its all econonomy worries and no time for creativity. Brilliant tune.
1st HipHop track i heard in dis life @ age 5 back in 86 ! Much Luv 2 Jerry & Ollie 4 inductin me N2 dis magnetic way of life , HipHop till my fukn casket drop & beyound muha fuka ! >;-D
no doubt, roxy all nite long (bamabtta, chuck chillout, red alert,, breakin till 4-5am, then leaving the roxy and trooping to the funhouse 10 blocks away till 845am.. hoooooo, say hooooo that shit was real hip hop B for real!!!
I was 17 working at the voice newspaper and ollie and jerry came in for a interview with one of the journalist and gave me a signed copy of the movie soundtrack album.
Hy,diese Lieder waren meine Zeit, ich habe früher viel Breakdance gemacht.Und gerdae diese Lieder von dir gehen ins Herz.Ich danke dir das du diese Video hochgeladen hast.Ich wünsche dir
This one "BREAKDANCE'" and "BEATSTREET" where 2 of the most massive hitmovies concerning the hiphop craze going on back then. As a very young teenager, I saw it all happening. 'Breakdance' was more the happy, untroubled fun kind of movie, and 'Beatstreet' more the serieus, hardcore kind. The last one also had some good musical hits.
@CreativeVanna99 Yea i am with ya i am da same age and i start listenin to 80's music like 2 months ago Man i wonder what happen to that music now and days....
que ganas tenia de ver cosas como estas he vivido con esta pelicula toda mi vida y aun siguo viendola ha sido la mejor de todo los tiempo, que habra sido de estos bailarines, gracias por pone esto, viva el turbina y ozono
This song is from 1983, used in 1984 on the film. The great bass and drum with the first Roland drums machines, very well programmed and the analogic synths...very funky...
@CBIZZLE29 I know I loved the movie too. I would spend hours in my bedroom trying to copy the moves and show off to my friends. I would even play this song on my portable cassette player and dance in the streets pretending to be one of the characters from the movie!! Shame!!! Happy times!!!
Old school fools lets break! Ha! ha! ha! Brings back memories! Can we go back to this time in m life! Boy great memories! 4 on the Floor, BodyPower, California Tops, Oxnard,CA Breakdancers 1980 to 1987 We were the shit back in the Days!
Great song to get you feelin' good! I was only 2 when the movie came out, but I've been watching it my whole life. I love it. The 80s were so fun even if you were just a kid. Thanks for posting this!!
this song brings back old school memorys reminds me of when i was a kid in east oakland in the mid 80s and all the graffitti writers and break dancers back then wish it could be like that again ....
How inspirational is this track??? TIMELESS!! Very young teenager when this was out. No doubt you were too? It has got me saving other break tunes in from this time. Don't you be shy now!! GREAT reminiscing!! x
wow we used to rock the floor with this one WEST COAST GROUND CREW 1982 TO 1985 OCEANSIDE CALIFORNIA THE CLICK - SOMO, STAN,HECTOR,SHAWN,TODD,AND FRANK TISBY. THE REAL BODY ROCKERS .......... AND YOU KNOW THIS MANNNNNNN.

Classic Battle/Owning song.
Man it was funny to see all of the white dude's try to break like Ozone and Turbo after this movie came out.
I can say that because I was one of those dude's.
Hah !!!!!!!!
It was their time and nobody stopped this movement or style.

This tune had such an excellent melody to it.
But it single-handedly carried this movie.
The movie itself was cheesy and punkish.
Laughable even back then.
Beat Street was the real deal.
Love this tune, though -always will.
Great one, Ollie and Jerry.
