Man, I love this track, It's awesome!! I think what people forget is, that this song is NOT hip hop, it's a true soul tune with a hip hop edge!! What I remember in HollandL This was the sweet and friendly huge Hip Hop hit of 1984, but the tough guys chose for Beatstreet..which was all that Breakdance was not, much more on the dark side...

And so...both movies kept each other perfectly in balance. They both represented a part of the 80's that was so characteristic for that decade. Fun and joy, but also a more realistic view on the streets, and it's culture..

What i remember is that back in da day, we had a place called skate ranch in santa ana and pop n taco and crazy legs showed up. place went wild, I was wearing my nike sweat suit. I was never really good at breaking, maybe at poppin and locking, but breakin was truely an art. One of them was break dancing with crutches, I will never forget that day. The pastel polo shirts for men and women, (I love men in pastel shirts!), girls wearing leggings under short dresses or long tops, "jelly shoes" (rubbery/plastic shoes) neon colors...many more. Check out some 80s themed sites and you'll see more of what I mean. :-)

This one "BREAKDANCE'" and "BEATSTREET" where 2 of the most massive hitmovies concerning the hiphop craze going on back then. As a very young teenager, I saw it all happening. 'Breakdance' was more the happy, untroubled fun kind of movie, and 'Beatstreet' more the serieus, hardcore kind. The last one also had some good musical hits.
