  • To be fair to the MacLeods they are kind of relevant in that the song wouldn't exist without a MacLeod. Only the tune is Scottish. The tune of the verse was a traditional rowing tune collected by an Annie MacLeod who supposedly composed the tune of the chorus herself. Words were then put to by Sir Harold Boulton, an Englishman.

  • @QuietReckoning The MacLeod's of Dunvegan did their utmost to capture Charlie - so it's hardly apt that Dunvegan Castle appears in the video for this song.
