Why do people still argue about some artist's not being dubstep, why does it matter what genre it is

Music genre's change over time just look at how rock was in the 80's and what it is now.

Dubstep has a lot of sub-genre's and though i agree some skrillex tunes are not really dubstep, his songs are mainly influenced by electro, progressive house and dubstep. And some of the songs he produces i would actually class under the dubstep genre.

So stop worrying whats dubstep and just enjoy music :)

I'll never understand how guys like Skrillex and Datsik can be called dubstep . "Dub" - a from of reggae music popularized by King Tubby and such in Jamaica during the 1960s. "Step" - originating from 2-step Garage, the direct predecessor of dusbtep, known for it's swinging rhythm and 2-step beats. If you don't incorporate either of these how can you be a "dubstep" producer? Oh and If you want some real OGs of dubstep look up Zed Bias and EL-B b.k.a. Skream and Benga's inspiration
