The instrumental break on this Animals track by Hilton Valentine is superb,there is another take used on certain compilations that has not quite got the bite of this one.
As good as Eric Burdon is, and that's mighty good, John Lee Hooker's version is the definitive one because I think his was the original - they nearly always are.

It was Duane, as he always was the one to introduce the next song to the audience and his voice is similar to Gregg's. Plus I'm familiar with his voice from the Duane Allman anthology albums.
