I have a problem with my sr18, want to see if someone out there can help me: I want to know how to make a beat ive programmed that is "rock steady" into a swing or shuffle beat. I have the first beat already on but when I put swing on nothing happens. Can somebody out there let me know what im doing wrong?
somebody please help me!!!! can you create your own song on this machine? Ive had it for two days n i cannot figure out how to create my own song, ive made the pattern but song is confusing

when you make a loop is it possible to do tempo changes? or is it one continuous beat the whole time? I am looking at drum machines right now to replace a drummer.
Why does everyone make these abc beats? What ever happened to playin the pads live and using some sense of melody......AND FOR THE BASS DUDE WITHOUT MIDI KEYBOARD..JUST PLAY WHAT U CAN WITH THE DRUM PADS LIVE.........DOPES!!!!!!
@getupngo I agree I can't stand the Record Setup. I Record live with the pads......After a few years I can play better with three fingers than all the live drummers I have jammed with......
How come when I step enter bass notes they all come out staccatto? Step entering is the only real option for me as I don't have a midi keyboard and a walk bass over several measures is difficult. When I do it this way I step edit the errors, but the notes still sound short. This does not happen with the drums, only the bass.
Re my last comment, wouldn't doing a jazz standard using 10 or 12 patterns for each chord change use a lot of memory, or would it be better to make longer patterns?
yes! just change the notes the bass is playing. For more accurate playing, hook up a midi keyboard and you can play the bassline more naturally. Also, create different patterns and then throw them into song mode.
its not meant for that. in that case wouldnt it jsut be easier to acquire a bass and do it yourself? if you need a type of electronic beat with simple bass for the base (different word) of a song, youve got it. then you overlay a buncha shit
Perfect Demo........... Thank You......

Does the Alesis have a built in speaker where you can listen to it without needing monitors?
boogiechillen123 2 years ago
Alesis = Numark, Numark = Akai, This looks just like the XR20, same UI and functionality, probably just different sounds.

doing a pattern like this one is easy. When a song has a lot of chord changes, or a walking bass, it is murder... or is there an easier way? help!
