I know this video was 3 years ago, but actually i have a plasma tv, i'm using for computer monitor and it's look great, 24 hours see a same image and there's no burn or ghosting on my screen.
maybe older generation of plasma have that, but newer generation of plasma tv use same amount of power to LCD and have same feature as LCD without sacrificing picture quality.
BL ABLA BLABLKLALABLKNALLSL?S gosh it is simple !!! lcd have lamp behind screen so black is newer 100% black so other colors are not true... plasma lights pixel by pixel end black is true black...simple!!!
if plasmas are so superior why are tv makers concentrating more on making lcd ,and why do lcd's constantly outsell plasma's,plasma is dying a slow death now that lcd's have led backlighting.
With plasmas, artists no expense on the model. The latest panasonic viera models show the 1080p, 600hz, 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio, true blacks and so on, and have burn in resistance. Plasma for the win.
@dafta4u Yeah CRT is still better than both but most people don't know that or they don't care because LCDs and Plasmas are much more lighter and take less space, that's why Sony was the last company to kill CRT, Sony didn't like the LCD and Plasma technology, both are slow compared to the CRT, but it was forced to make LCD tvs because that's what people want, most people don't know whats good for them, i hope the OLED will be as fast as the CRT.
I recently bought a plasma panasonic 46 inch 720p t.v and must say it's pretty to look at. I'm a gamer... and love to play games on it. But I heard of burn ins and that plasma breaks down easily, you know cons about it. Anyways, I want to know that if these problems still exist greatly from other's people experience lately... Plasma must've advance since then... especially for gaming right?
@spacesex101 burn ins only happen if you leave the screen on on a still image for a very very very very very very long time.. have you ever noticed that electrical appliance stores always have short clips?
I have a Sony LCD & Panasonic Plasma. Here's what I personally have to say about them both. The LCD would jitter and have weird digital blurs when things are circular or moving too fast especially in a GRASSY scene. Even hair was weird on LCD. I gave it to the kids for their cartoons cause LCD did just as good as my computer LCD which kids watch youtube on.
The Plasma rendered everything from fast kicks, punches right down to the hair, all circle objects & other fast paced objects.
out dated, now there is LCD-LED TV's that have lower energy cost, they are more reliable than LCD (which means they are WAYYY more reliable than plasma.. and the contrast ratio of the image is much improved even while LCD has improved. I've seen too many plasmas crap out in ugly ways..
@djbro16 That's BS. I gave my $1800 Lcd to the kids cause it can't do circles, fast scenes, some yellow & it has too much a computer LCD feel to it. I got sick of it. I am using a $700 plasma now because it's just like at the movies. You don't crap out and get weird blurry parts, circles that struggle to be circles, and when it's the darker scenes have a nice bluish glow to it just like the theatre. Don't know where you been watching your plasma's.They crap out everyday in ugly ways. lmfao.
i like plasma, i have 50 inch panasonic,im playing games from pc too,but i dont see yet any problem,(burn in) my friend has 50 inch lcd and there is a great difference in colors and plasmas are more fast in games.my mind plasma is better
i like plasma, i have 50 inch panasonic,im playing games from pc too,but i dont see yet any problem, my friend has 50 inch lcd and there is a great difference in colors and plasmas are more fast in games.my mind plasma is better
plasma color is more vibrant but the Tvs burn out fast. i bought my samsung lcd tv the same time my sister bought her vizio plasma. Mines is still running strong hers burned out when the repair man for vizio came to fix it he himself said plasmas are the worst choice to go wit
0:40 - 1:00 why can't they make Plasma screens smaller then 42-inches? since the gas cell or pixel count is at 720-pixels or 1080-pixels per-square inch and always remains the same amount of pixels in that square inch no matter what the screen size is.
I think they can make a Plasma smaller then 42-inches if they wanted to.
lcd is 10-20 mini second slower than a normal tv, monitor thats bad for shoot games fight games sport games and other fast games... i bought a lcd and it lags as hell for shoot games and all other fast games so i go back to the store and traded for plasma fast motion tv and i go home and start my xbox and play cod4 it was very fast as a normal tv, monitor and it was tighter, sharper, and better than lcd. a tip go to settings and do brightness 10+ higher than is every thing good for gaming
I own both and I feel that plasmas are inherently better than LCDs.
Plasmas have outstanding blacks, great contrast, rich colors, super wide viewing angles, perfect uniformity, and excellent motion handling. My plasma also has some of the lowest lag I have ever seen on a HDTV, unlike my LCD.
If you didn't worry about burn in back on your old tube tv, you shouldn't worry about it on a plasma.
Until something better comes out (like OLED) at affordable prices, Plasma is where it's at.
@avshaman Think you have pretty much summed it it, although i would add that if your playing games all the time opt for lcd. also plasma screens are harder to accidently break
What if, I play alot of video games, watch movies, watch alot of sports and is looking to buy 55" screen or larger, what would be best? I thought burn in was less of an issue these days with plasmas.
burn in does not occur any more with plasmas and because you want a tv over 50" then ill go with plasma. lcd is good for low screen sizes and plasmas are good for big sizes
plasmas last longer the new ones cliam 100000 hours lcds are only 60000 hours there cheaper and they look better....as far as reflection if you have every had a picture tube tubes are as reflective if not more ....go plasma unless video gaming is important ..
i got a 42" LCD because i own a PS3 and i will be buying a 360 this X-Mas so yea..... i also own a PS2 so i watch alot of movies but i have 3 brothers and sis' too so the games are being played alot and some of them don't have much movement in some areas
Hey I am in the exact same situation I am looking at a 42" T.V. My advice is if you like watching sports or movies go with the plasma. Another good piece of advice is DO NOT believe the myths about plasma on how they can't be watched in lighted rooms they can with the new tech out this year. Two amazing plasma's for an even better price is the samsung PN42B450 or the Panasonic TCP42C1
easy... if you are a game lover do not hesitate on buying an LCD (42 inch is simply great and the size and image quality are awesome), however, if your parents are buying a tv for them, let them choose plasma for mom's movies and dad's football games, ask for your LCD to your room and you won't regret :)
ok jackass go look at prices lcds are the cheapest but now the prices between plasma and lcds have kinda come clos but plasmas are still more n LEDs... freakin mad exspensive a 40" is like 2200 ok so get ur facts str8

LCDs have improved but Plasmas still have better contrast, color production, and have no motion blur (some LCDs do). Yet, manufactures have pushed LCD like crazy (7 to 1) because is cheaper to do and many people, due to higher energy consumption and burn in, fear plasmas. However, this is taken out of proportion. The extra energy amounts to $15/20 extra a year and the burn ins are temporal (just be considerate). Yet, Samsum's new LEDs also give you the quality of Plasma, that will take over.
lcd's are overall the best i have a 50" plasma and i am converting to a 42" lcd. they defiantly have the edge in gaming as far as the burn in issue goes. lcd's are the standard for computer screens and if they "burned in" easily i doubt theyd be used for a os as obviously images are always static on a pc unless watching a movie in full screen.
Anybody on here saying plasmas no longer suffer from burn in have no idea and are just listening to the manufacturers and sales people. Newer plasmas do still in fact suffer from burn in. It took my brand new samsung pn50a550 less than 5 minutes to retain a netflix logo with the contrast set at 75. The only way to avoid it is to turn the contrast down so low the picture looks like shit. Plasma is shit technology, it changes the way you watch tv for the worse.
spoken like someone who has never owned a good plasma. and the netflix logo will not burn in 5 minutes. Your clueless. Its called Image retention. And LCD suffers from it also (called image persistence with LCd). you have alot to learn bud.
look at the reviews. Pioneer kuro beats any TV hands down. all pro's agree.

I havent seen an LCD yet that doesnt show blur with fast moving objects on large screens, tennis balls look like green comets etc, LCD seems not to show natural skin tone either?
I watch loads of movies. but i have a ps3, just ordered a 42" samsung plasma. is it true that if you keep the contast below 60% and make sure the picture is always moving that after 100/200 hours it will prevent burn in / ghosting ?
