Incorrect! Cats do not have the proper vocal structure to do so. Neither do apes, BTW, though they can communicate by sign(google Kanzi - I've met him, and he's astounding!). Parrots don't speak either - they whistle every sound.

Cats only sound like English by coincidence. Some cats have several meows they use differently though - that's language. I had one lifelong invalid cat who had 5 sounds he combined differently to mean different things. His dependence on me inspired him, I think.

The SPCA cages animals, you know :-D. Our Humane Society has a cat that loves her cage and refuses to be adopted - knows the word and freaks out whenever anyone mentions it around her. She was an abused stray, and is so thrilled to have her cushy digs she doesn't want to risk another bad home. They let her loose at night, but I bet she mostly stays in the cage.

Yeah, I had a cat (he disappeared) that said "water" in Portuguese (agua) and "it don't open" in Japanese (akan, which comes from akanai, I think). Well, we could provide him a cup of water everytime he said "agua", so who knows he could learn... Cats can pronounce the g, s, k and some sounds other then vogals.
