  • i hate 6:25.....cuz the song ends T_T

  • huh, i thought it was about me and my father and my daughter. i feel so silly now.

  • This kicks some serious ass

  • The song is not about drugs... It's about his son Devo H. Keenan. You can hear in the lyrics, As the walls come down, and as I look in "HIS" eyes, my fear begins to fade. I'm counting over the times I could have cried, I should have cried... Maybe he's referring to the day his son was born. Quite tricky there, in the lyrics I mean and somehow meaningful...

  • @partypoison4 It actually has a dual meaning, it is about drugs and his son

  • "as the walls come down, and as i look in *his* eyes"...argument settled. Song isn't about drugs lol.

  • I'm going to see them on January 17th!

  • 5:05

    Holy mother of fuck...

  • so find out why this is.

  • I don't mind. I don't mind. I DON'T MIND! Dude, If I was there in the front row at that moment, I swear I would have a fuckin' heart attack. emotion is overwhelming.

  • man maynard is so weird but this song gives me goosbumps.... ESPECIALLY when he does that scream @ 5:10.. I DONT MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIND

  • 5:02 Maynard can scream louder than all of you!

  • Love watching Danny back there. Dude's a fuckin surgeon behind that kit.

  • @mcw2826 The world's only true Tribal-Caucasian.

  • Epic @ 4:50

  • I was just thinking about how this awesome song takes me to a place where i don't have to think about anything.

  • Just when you think the audience was going to drown out Maynard he comes right back and mows the whole place down with that last "I don't mind ! ".

  • TOOL is the BEST!!!!

  • hit9s wrong note one guitar. does reverse walking bassline to right note. still confuses drummer.

  • lol wtf? The people in the bottom left at 3:19 starting flipping him off xD

  • @TheEchoesofMetroid Its a concert thing man. They meant no disrespect.

  • Happy birthday Maynard

  • Adam either hit the wrong notes at the beginning or was getting all jammed out with it up in that piece. I wish it was still 1996 and I was on spring break.

  • @PeaSeePea What are you talking about? You're retarded, it was neither of those, he played it correctly

  • Comment removed

  • @hat6036 its tool.... every thing they play is automatically great even if played wrong

  • seen them do this live a couple times, he holds that note just like on the album, theyre truly a perfect, beautiful beautiful band

  • Who the fuck disliked it to I could kick their ass!!!!

  • Danny miss the final lol one of the first mistake I see from him...incredible song

  • Haha, Danny dropped a stick at 4:43 and doesn't miss a beat... he's crazy

  • @Crazycowperson

Look at the video for Hooker with a Penis.... he did it there too

  • @Crazycowperson i think he plays without them o.o this is like the 4th video i have seen him dropping his sticks

  • @Crazycowperson No you're crazy

  • I don't miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiind.

  • haha he fucked up in the beginning

  • cant wait to see these guys in 6 days in australia

  • I would have loved to go to this concert

  • I don't mind.

  • how the fuck can anbody be better then TOOL!! Best band ever besides floyd and zepplin

  • @chilledoutchick9 best band ever

  • i'm going on 12 years listening to this perfect live version and for the past 14 years this one song out of 1000s of songs i love, speaks to me like some sweet gravity.

  • Maynards spine tattoo is the peanut butter to my jelly. :)

  • I got into Tool in 1999 and even then I was too young to see a show

  • This is poetry for Maynard's Life..

I cant believe what tool does..!! Incredible song

  • Maynards grey sweatpants are fucking legendary.

  • Perhaps one of the best visual references for how to play this song on the drums.

  • The fucking '90s. The peak of rock.

  • damn i freakin live in pomona sux that i was too young to know who tool was back then :/

  • your tool videos are fucking awesome dave, thank you

  • is that justin chancellor in the video?

  • @Cyc1on3 yessir first show with him i believe

  • How does this only have 26,000 views???? And Justin Beeber videos probly have like 10,000,000......now thats whats wrong with the world.

  • @nolson4062 since the media has blinded humans, or so called "sheep", of what that is actually great... It's painful, we all know that..

  • I almost cry from the incredible art I hear in this song.

  • Danny drops his stick at 4:44. But manages to grab another from his stick bag without droppin the beat

  • 2nd favorite TOOL song. but it might become my first. i really don't know, all TOOL songs are amazing.

  • Going to see them July 1st! Can't wait. Will be my second time seeing tool live.

  • It's Weird seeing danny play on such a small kit (small by his standards today).

  • I wish that I knew who the hell gave this vid a "thumbs down"... I would track them down and slap them.

Oh! And 5:05 For the fucking win!

  • @Recovrd1 omg how ironic that the person i meant to give a thumbs up and accidently hits the thumbs down button is the person who brought up thumbs down in the first place lol.

    but yes, 5:05, fucking brilliant

  • this and eulogy are beast!

  • dude is that a back happy trail haha jk

  • @SaDvids8 It's a scorpion.

  • im from NE england and i think TOOL are a prolific band. Iv heard off my friend that they are recording a new album and organising a tour for late 2010 ? any 1 else heard this if so ihope they do some ukconcerts . im jealous my American comrades (YOU LOT)hav the chance to go to these shows

  • @adamt213 seen them 15 x's. I'm jealous of (YOU LOT) cause ya'll get to see Radiohead with more frequency... Lol.

  • Great performance. Danny is a monster, he makes playing drums look as natural as breathing.

  • Especialy when he drops his stick and is still able to pick it up casualy and continue to play perfectly like it didn't even happen

  • i think its great that the 1996 videos are like 50 times better than the ones from 2002-2009

  • I believe it is amazing that there is ANY footage of this show regardless of whom the camera is focused on. I was at this show and I believe there must have been somebody with a large hat on somewhere in the odd shaped lines of the Glass House. It was a really unique experience this night.

  • Lovely sitck drop and recover by danny at around 4.35. It's lovely watching him play this song, so precise.

  • if u notice in the beginning he not playing the intro guitar riff...kinda weird...nevertheless Tool fuckin rocks

  • @boueriltb that's because the bass starts this song. effected to fuck to sound like a guitar, but it's justin.

  • my favorite tool song right here

  • Agreed.

  • @bojanks15 Indeed sir. Reminds me of "the one that got away".

  • @SirMoist I was just thinking about that, Maynard said his music is usually ambiguous and free to interpretation, but that's what I get out of this song too.

  • by 5:15...that camera should be on Adam Jones. Just my opinion.

  • ehm....the camera should NEVER EVER be on anyone other than Danny...

  • thumbs up to that sir

  • Billy Howerdel at the end of the vid?

  • Billy Howerdel used to be Adam Jones' guitar technician on the Ænima tour.

  • H is a great song.

  • such a fucking good song. seriously nobody tops tool

  • @zepp2se7en ...NO BODY,,,!"

  • This is the first show on the tour...and they were younger...of course they are going to slip up sometimes

  • I heard this song back in 7th grade, which was in 97 and I was HOOKED from then on. Their music is fucking brilliant.

  • I wish I had known them so early, man. Although I don't know if I had been mature enough to grasp it

  • goddamn i love this band.

  • I like the last part, its a fucking punch in the stomach.

  • P.S. lol at 5:06 either Justin or Adam or Both didnt come in with Danny

  • i love how none of their songs sound even remotly similar to another one of their own or to someone elses song, which is TOO common nowadays

  • this song is perfect.

  • looks like billy howerdel at the end, he was the guitar tech on this tour

  • One of the greatest songs that I have ever heard..

  • i'm completely PUZZLED how he can scream like that. Either he is extremely highpitched, or he has a not human diaphrama.

  • That's what his gyrations are all about. Whole body muscle controlled verbals.

  • Seperate the body from the mind...

They tell you how to 'be Tool' within the lyrics....

Just dig deeper. It's within us all....

....it's just amazing when you have 4 people in the same mental pocket....which is what we see here.....

    ....and I don't mind.....I don't mind....

  • He's incredible, isn't he?

  • 5:40 to the end is the fucking BOMB i love how danny goes all out, its so amazing!

  • i would kill to see them back then in a smaller venue. raw in your face ridiculously talented music. ive seen them several times recently and its more theatre now. i guess thats part of growing as a bnd. i dont think a stage will ever see more musical talent and art.

  • This version of H. is before Maynard starting catching the audience off guard with the "I don't mind" part, which is brilliant. For those who have seen later versions of H., you know what I'm referring to.

  • nice catch on that h video

  • I don't mean to be a bummer, but I think he adjusted the "I don't mind" part to keep his voice and the sentiment from becoming drowned in the audience's chanting. Of course there's no way to keep his fans from doing so. I'm sure he appreciates the gesture in his own way.

  • Carey has developed a HUGE independence that's what this song's drumming stands for, his left hand it's very powerful.

  • It's hilarious that Danny drops his stick while playing the simplest part of the song. I'm extremely thankful to whoever recorded this. I've always been puzzled about exactly what Danny does in this song.

  • who cares he droped his stick he recovered it like nothing happened thats how great of a drummer he is

  • You totally missed the point, man. Drummers always drop sticks, that's just a fact. My point was that he made it through an extremely complex rhythmic pattern without even struggling but once he gets to the part that's straightforward, he happened to drop his stick. I find that ironic. Also, Danny is not just a great drummer; he is the greatest drummer to inhabit the earth so far. Bruford is a close second.

  • Yea he fucking didn't even miss a beat, he used the other stick he was using for the hi-hat to hit the snare just at the right time while he was picking the other stick up lol brilliant!

  • LOL AT 443 DANNEY DROPS HIS STICK lol

  • yeah but look at that, he got it back no problems made in the song, thats a true drummer for you.

  • At 4:42 it's the normalest thing that Danny Carey have ever played in his life... The rest of his drumming it's unbelievable...

  • one of their best songs..

  • Hahahaha...it really sounds like Adam starts to play Schism in the beginning^^

  • much better version than Huntingtons

  • I love how he say's the "Connected to you!" much more emotion compared to the album version.

  • I actually don't like the way he sings that part live very much - in any of the bootlegs I've seen. It sounds too majorey (from a musical standpoint)

  • What do you mean by majorey? Are you saying major scale? I enjoyed it more because on the album version the part of "too you" just fades off and is barely understood and not heart felt, compared to the live versions I have heard.

  • that's exactly what I mean. I believe he hits a major third for that note (E if we're in C) rather than an Eb which would coincide with the definite minor sound (not too sure of the actual mode, but I think you understand). It's true it might have more feeling, but I liked the album version because the "to you" was so low that it perpared you for the next "I am so...", so, more dynamic.

however, I am a person who enjoys CDs more than concerts usually. Though I do like at concerts when the

  • band jams out or adds something extra. Case in poing: when Keenan says "I don't mind" like five times and then shouts and totally gives me chills. And I don't know if I'm allowed to say this here, but RHCP live is great because of Fruisciante's guitar solos and the band's covers and jams.

  • THIS is so fkn awesome man!.. I wish I coulds see them live back in a day... THANKS a bunch for the video!

  • this is the bootleg concert footage of this band on youtube period respect

  • Incredibly good sound, exactly deep and crunching like on Aenima album. respect.

  • easily one of their best songs, not that all tool is amazing

  • I am still pissed that I missed out on tickets for this show. sold out morning they went on sale. I could have cried and...

  • oh man...

    I could have cried then!

Def one of the best TOOL songs ever <3

  • days away I still feel you

  • thanks dave ...

  • i dedicate the chorus to my first love...

  • well the problem with that is that you didn't write or play the song.

  • THAT GAVE ME CHILLS IN MY BRAIN LOLOLO

  • beautiful

  • Danny's 46

  • really?? wow. that's amazing. best drummer to have walked the earth, in my opinion.

  • How old is maynard now anyway?

  • 42, 43. something like that. still going strong though. still sexy. =)heheh

  • REALLY..i didnt think he was that old , puts a whole nr prespective on his vocals now a days.he still can belt it out for his age then

  • he certainly can.

  • face facts, they're human. they fuck up like me and you do. doesn't stop them being one of the greatest live acts of all time. plus, as maynard says, this is the first outing for the aenima material, so there are bound to be parts that have evolved since on the live versions of these songs.

  • I love TOOL so fuckin much its ridiculous!!!

"the snake behind me hisses what my damage could have

my blood before begs me open up my heart again

and I feel this comin' over like a storm again now" Tell me that ain't poetry!

  • This whole concert brings back memories. Maynard, vocally in his prime. The whole band continues to grow creatively but Maynard's recent lack of vocal intensity can only be blamed on age. Still my favorite band and every song from this particular cocert is pretty much flawless

  • the bass sounds much more raw than ever.

    i love it.

  • he probably just wanted to change it up a bit, playing the same songs over and over and over and over again on a tour can get kinda boring. besides that, Danny rarely EVER plays anything the same live as he did on the album. for instance he waited a whole measure before doing my favorite 32nd note snare/double kick fill that he does on this video around 5:58.

  • Adam is a perfectionist.. It was intentional. Plus I have heard him do that same thing at other shows.

  • wow they did a great job, on all the songs at this concert for that matter

  • I just noticed how Adam messed up on the beginning of the song and also.... does anybody know why he didn't play the fist verse solo and kept it at the regular riff? Awesome vid, Tool is my favorite band.

  • solely to make you ask that question and they remember that they're Tool and do they really ever screw up or are they just an ever-changing being of greatnes?

    Think for yourself, question authority.

  • i havent even watched this video yet but i am right now!

  • such good sound and picture!!

  • awsome fuckin song
