It isn't a rule. Just sound advice. If you have a high performance plane you have options. So, go-arounds are possible, but don't bet your plane can out climb rising terrain in a high density altitude environment.
Can anyone explain the "no go around rule" here? Is it because it's sort of like a box canyon and there's no room to fly a pattern (unless you can gain LOTS of altitude on departure)?
