Easy for an accomplished folk band like Fairport Convention to record an already established song "so much better" than Richard and Mimi did. Especially when you consider you are comparing two folkies against a big folk band recording with studio techniques vastly improved since the 60's. Sorry, this original is still the one for purists. Fairport is a great band -- but their version is cubic zirconia compared to this diamond.
Great to hear this again, I had the album, but a flood took all my vinyl treasure away.... and I believe this has that "retro 60s" sound, not quite all the way back to the 50s.... ;-)
Yes, on second listening you perhaps are rigfht. I was thinking of the music to the movie "Blow Up" which was made in the 60s also. lol, So sorry about the flood. If the flood just ruined your records, you can clean then with dish soap and bottled water. Must have been quite a flood! Take care. Hope you had a nice Christmas!
