Magic Jack will not allow me to call my internet provider. But I can reach other numbers. I talked to my internet provider and they said it wasn't them. They said to check with Magic Jack, but I haven't been able to reach them.
@Truthrevealed21 I don't know what to say. (?) Have you tried the online customer service? I find it to be surprisingly punctual. I get a live person with a minute or so. GO to the Magic Jack website, scroll to the bottom and there's an option for customer service.
@eloid777: I've read that you can use Magic Jack service on a cell phone (e.g. unlocked iPhone). Pretty sure there's software you can get, you input your Magic Jack settings then use the service on your phone using a wifi connection.
@eloid777: using Magic Jack service is just like using a typical phone service. You get your own number with area code, then all calls within Canada and North America are free (included in annual cost). If you called someone locally, no one would pay anything more than their usual phone service cost. Just pick up a phone, dial and talk.
Do you need to get separate internet service for the EPCs than the one being used for your computer? If so, then it defeats the purpose of saving money.
@angelthman: No, you don't need separate Internet service. One household router provides Internet access to my desktop PC, XBox 360, two EeePC's and two wireless notebooks.
Thanks tanbrolo for this informative review! My magic jack also works perfectly all the time. I agree that those who have had issues with the magic jack might be due to their internet service, but it could also be some other issues. For example, their computer might be too slow or bogged down with malware. Whatever the issue might be, I'm just so glad I didn't listen to the negative reviews!
