This is one of the best openings in eurovision. Especially when they zoom in to that girl and everything is quiet; and in the moment she say welcome europe, the hole arena just explode in light. Its so powerful, and the music makes a great feeling

Compared to most previous efforts, SVT presented something totally new and fresh for Eurovision! And it wasn't just some random images, but an integral part of a clever design scheme that surrounded the whole contest that year. I absolutely love this opening and especially the music by Martin Landquist!

Sorry, Martin Landquist - not Landgren. He has a website where this intro clip is also featured with excellent sound, among other work: martinlandquist. com - section "Commissioned Music".

The music was composed especially for this occasion by Nåid aka Martin Landgren. He also used the score for a track on his album the same year. However, I can't remember the title of it.

omg we were in the same boat. i also had to wait 7 years to see this intro again.. only to find out señor wogan was in it. thanks should go to shane79 for originally uploading this video (unfortunately, he disappeared). as for the song, i heard it was custom made specifically for this intro. anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks a million for putting this up again, really it is porbably the best Eurovision opening of recent times. I usually like Wogan's cynicism but I couldn't believe how he pissed over that fabulous music on the other clip from the BBC.
