The old man tranny seem to have more personality though when i was in school my bus driver said a real school bus was one with man. most of the busses i rode in school were 5 speed with split. had lot of Blue bird and Thomas S1700 and S1800s then went to the Navistar 3800 DT/466 engines
I am a fan of the older manual trans busses. Back then you could choose Auto or Man. While Auto is great, i am a fan of the Man Trans. I know most bus drivers today want Auto so pretty much all school bus that are built today are Auto trans. I love the sound of this bus when it shifts gears you can here the engine.
@buslover333 I didnt know that all of my districts C2's have push button transmissions with the exception of the one C2 thats a hybrid it has a regular automatic shifter
@arcofadiver1 I would think you could specially request it if you wanted its like a new IC or Thomas some districts get them new with a regular automatic shifter then my district gets a new bus most of the time its a new C2 they get them with a push button transmission
@arcofadiver1 I think now days all newer school buses are automatics. I dont konw when the last year manual's were still manufactured on new buses but I know many school bus drivers were glad when they became standard in automatic since shifting is a pain in the butt for many.
Im not really sure arcofadiver but is that your bus :P ?? my father owns 13 manual corbeils 1999 to 2003 he owns 6 thomas manuals 2000 to 2002 and 2 manual bluebirds both 2000 and it kinda sucks the new Ic international buses no offense but we have hade no choice to buy them cause corbeil sold out to them ic's suck we have hade so many problems we hade to change the brian on 12 buses swich the electronicals on 7 and flip the motor on 5 its like not reliable at all these buses
its a verry gd video and yes they are manual i happen to own my father happens to own his own bus company and he has like 10 1999 to 2003 international corbeil manual transmission :P

@johnblessing Most manual buses are five-speeds. Now almost all districts have moved to 4, 5, or 6-speed automatics.

@arcofadiver1 IC Will soon be making manual or automatic trans But In a few years from noww

@arcofadiver1 I doubt it. Most buses, school and city, garbage trucks, recycle trucks are all autos because of the stop and go.
gajda1984 1 year ago
@arcofadiver1 Yes. The C2 was spected to be a stick shift. The old Thomas FS-65s were spected and some came with manual tranies.
