considering what it was recorded with the sound really isn't that bad. a lot of these vids are just obnoxious and offensive as hell on the ears but you captured an interest part of the sound spectrum that's actually pretty listenable. nicely done. wicked song.
that was amazing. I went to their concert in grand rapids last year and the set list was awesome, don't get me wrong, but I would've crapped my pants if they played bodies haha.
this is my all time favourite song on the planet. if i had heard them sing this live when i saw them i would have literally shit my pants and cried at the same time.
i don't know why everyone keeps saying that they never played this song live before.get some more 90's pumpkin bootlegs, they played this song a couple times on the mellon collie tour, I have a great sounding live version of it from 1996.
Any song from this album brings back memories about how good music use to be. Music runs in cycle...and sad to say even though i am still young. The kids 23 and under never experience real music.. It is sad, some will be lucky and have an older sibling who will show them good music from the past but some will listen to what is on the radio. It's ok it not there fault, just teach them the right way and dont judge. We who truely understand good music can really teach the confuse the right waythank
This whole album means so much to me.... listening to any song on this album reminds me how good the music was in the 90's compare to the crap they usually play now days. It makes me appreciate. I am still young but i just hope the youth really appreciates the music of there past.......it sad what music has become.....it is not really good with exception....The exception are far and few between! So SAD!
Ok this is the best way to describe the pumpkins....drcy, james, billy, and jimmy all have instruments the only difference is Billy and Jimmy could actually play theirs.
its wierd how this vid from a crappy little mobile phone makes you feel like you're actually there more than any other live vid on here. i've watched this loads of times now. the sound is stereo though....didn't think mobiles could do that
Ha, actually I took it with a Sanyo 9.1 MP Digital Movie Camera. The quality sucks because i was so friggin' far back!! I need to invest in better seats next time :)
What seats? you will never experience the real pumpkins. they died when james iha left...
Anything else WITHOUT james is nothing. James was the beauty of the band, he was the silent soothing balm of the pumpkins...darcy was the female bass-inatrix, Billy was and IS the whiner, and jimmy was and is the washed up on the shore heroin addict.
I never said he wasnt the Pumpkins...he has always been the frontman, we all know this. BUT! his whiny, cunty attitude has pushed his loved ones away. And Iha being a former bf of Darcy DOES NOT help!
Also, The band would have been called "Billy Corgan" as he did when he went solo, IF it was him and him only...but we cannot be so selfish to just detect and target billy for all the credit...
The other members were just as useful, beautiful, elegant, and above all...
meaninful to the overall persona of the band. If a band morphs too many times, as in changing members frequently, it (the band itself) begins to look a little distorted after a while.
i do miss D'arcy and James a bit, but, Billy wrote every part of every song just about except for the drums. i wouldn't call them expendable, but, they were basically just there and they were a part of everything.
i'm totally agreeing with you, but, giving a different point of view i guess.
rytas, you're so right man. I often hear people bash Billy for continuing Smashing Pumpkins without D'arcy and James. The truth is, The Smashing Pumpkins IS Billy Corgan. I mean, not entirely, but the music was written and made by and for Billy Corgan. Sure he had an outstnading backing band who I'm sure had amazing input on writing some of the songs, but it's mainly all Billy. It's like the band should have been Billy Corgan and The Smashing Pumpkins.
Except the fact that iha can't write a song to save his life. Thank god billy was fulltime on that front. Left in ihas hands they never would have made it.
awesome song and video dude. i really like how this song is played with the guitars in a dropped tuning to "D" and they tuned them down right there on stage at the beginning......that was a bad ass "garage band" style beginning
to all those people who are asking "why didnt they play this song live before?"
Do you have any fucking idea how hard it is to do vocals to this song in the higher octave that Billy does in the studio version ? Obviously he cannot do it live, it's too freaking hard. He couldn't then (w/o the studio help to your vocals) and he cant now. I'm a vocalist myself.
This is one of my favorite, if not my favorite song from MCIS. I'm glad I was able to hear it live at least once. THIS SONG IS POWERFUL!
@rends I don´t think is that difficult... I can sing it without any problems, I´m vocalist too and i don´t think i´m singing better than billy honestly, so he could have done that now and then.
the pumpkins have always been my favourite band, but watching this video felt somehow saddening. like it or not, billy doesn't have the edge he used to, stage presence or voice-wise, and leaving out the screams completely turns this song into a droning tune without any kind of climax or passion.
and with jimmy now gone, i won't keep my hopes up for a possible future pumpkins release, since i didn't really like zeitgeist either.
thank fuck for the fact that the classic albums remain. love
yeah the screaming "nobodys" part is the best, leaving that out just neuters the song. i can see why he wouldnt do it live especially now, your voice deteriorates as you get older
if billy would just scream that last "nobody" like he does on the album just once live, i would die a happy man. On a side note, I love ginger's harmonizing.
@GorramT Thats the first thing i noticed. it disapointed me, but that scream may not be too easy to replicate. if he fucks it up it wouldkill the song
I saw them at one of their Chicago shows (had two tickets, but Billy was sick and had to reschedule the last one) and when I saw them they played Zero and immediately went into Bodies. The roof almost ripped the Chicago Theatre. Nothing like going home to Chicago for a local band. They will forever rock.
Side note - I watched VH1's top 100 songs of the 90's. Yeah, Pumpkins didn't make the list for ANY of their songs... Yea.
That side note is pretty ridiculous. But as much I think that's a travesty, that just makes this band all the more intimate and personal for those that cherish them.
This is probably my favorite track on Mellon Collie & the Infinite Sadness.
And when they play, it's like a wave that hits you. In a positive way. It feels really good. It feels so good that it's almost impossible to handle it and then you just have to explode of joy. My favourite band, absolutely.
this onw of my favorite pumpkin songs. great video!

@phucket01 i believe it is drop d but also the entire guitar is dropped a half tone or maybe even a whole tone
or most likely a half tone lower, which is what all mellon collie songs are tuned. albeit standard half step down as well..
