A friend recommended this band, he said 'Agony' is the best album of 2011. I gave it a several tries, but unfortunately the whole record is not that good in my opinion... It has some great moments, but after all for me, this is only mediocre. No offense, that's just my subjective point of view. I still respect the musicians and the fans of this band. Now, let's listen some Emperor.:)

@Imiface the problem I see is the use of symphonic elements as a lead instrument causes the music to sound unfocused, since it just can't compete with the drums and guitars. Their older stuff doesn't have this problem, and in my opinion it is much better.

@baalzebubdeffiu What? I primarily listen to Burzum, Taake, Darkthrone, Marduk, Nargaroth, Enslaved, Falkenbach and a mess of other old school European BM bands. I still love Fleshgod Apocalypse. If you don't like it, fine, but don't go bashing other metalheads. I love True Black Metal and I love Fleshgod Apocalypse. Learn to accept opinions dude. Not everything needs to be recorded in a cave during a snowstorm.

@ari1234a Last time I checked, Black Metal has been a genre for the past 24 years. True black metal simply means it's cold and raw sounding, has to do with deep mysticism of ancient pagan beliefs, nature, cult activity or suicide. It usually isn't super produced. Calling Fleshgod Apocalypse True black metal is silly. A true black metal band would be Burzum or Taake. Look up the movie, "Until the Light Takes us" for a better understanding of the genre. I think it's free on youtube.

Since great extreme metal that's also symphonic is (very) hard to come by, you should really learn to appreciate it. That said, Fleshgod Apocalypse have really launched themselves into a league of their own with this record.

@Cidique actually, fleshgod changed its sound. they used to be tech death with a hint of neo classical and this album was like full fledged symphonic. even still, fleshgod is still very recognizable and incomparable. Its funny, I think the exact opposite about this album. I feel as though they were really their own sound until this album, where they sort of left their tech death neo classic roots and became like other bands, which is why they were even compared to dimmu.

Its cool hearing talent come out of the scene drowned down death core. I much prefer this than 3 2 3 0 at 70 bpm for 3 minutes with whatever scene vocals are going on.
