  • never heard of that pianist ! ..just too good !

  • @Saxyman14 "The "Super-Action" horns are the current "Series II" Models. Intermediate horns."

biggest bunch of crap i ever heard. selmer paris ONLY EVER made professional instruments and SBA's are awesome and NOTHING like the current series II. the only similarity is their both selmer's and still have that selmer sound, but they are entirely different horns

  • Awesome! One of THE best jazz quartet videos on YouTube. Makes me want to grab my bass and play - unfortunately I'm in BART right now ..

  • Excellence in action.

  • Any idea what cymbals he's using? anybody?!

  • @1Weckl1 apparently he plays some 16" zidljian A hats, a 20" istanbul dry ride with a medium high bell, and a 24" old school A ride, as well as a 22" constantinople....obviously they aren't all set up in this video though

  • @levfachermusic that ride is a spizzachino dude

  • @sack69attack yes that's his sound it's not forced it's silmply similar to sonny rollins.

  • Love the musica, i just don´t agree with the song name

  • yeah!

  • 5:53 CHRISSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!

  • Pull of band is splendid,nice...

  • i agree... Joshua Redman is beyond!

  • I played his other solo, cool also.

Though I love this one I enjoyed more from the other one. [I'm a tenor saxophonist for 4 years now :P]

  • Yea i think the other group is better with Brad on keys in the other versiou

  • Yeah.. I feel like playing at this speed takes a lot of the swing away. And his sound is a little forced until the solo... ya know

  • dont get me wrong this is killin' but the other one just swings hard

  • geeze you suck dude

  • he would sound good on an elkheart (satin's horn) though

  • Thanks Buasop.

  • Hey Turnerdj,

He is playing a Selmer balanced action tenor. It may be a super balanced action, which is a slightly later horn.

  • They were actually called Super Action, not Super Balanced Action.

  • I'm pretty sure Selmer calls them Super Balanced Action. they were made after the Balanced edition and only produced for a short period of time

  • The "Super-Action" horns are the current "Series II" Models. Intermediate horns.

  • yeah its a super balanced action, not a balanced. i actually prefer the sound of an sba to the Mark VI

  • I think he was...when brad was "troubled" with substance abuse, at least thats what i heard. Johnny does a great job considering that he had to fill brad's spot..

  • its really refreshing seeing them enjoying the music they make haha

  • I'm talking brand hellboykid

  • Does anyone no what horn hes playin?

  • tenor sax mate.

  • Ingenius lick at 1:00 got to to see that agian.

  • I honestly am having trouble pinpointing the harmony there, but I love it, whatever it is!

  • i felt that too

  • Sounds like Ms. Etna melody from Joe Lovano's record Tenor Legacy.

  • its because joshua redman is playin in this album...

  • Wow! When listening to this song, you could really feel the passion and emotion come through everyones playing. It is smokin' hot!!!!

  • Wonderful tenor sound, and a marvelous rythm section.

  • Wow, that's fast.
