The Death Penalty should only be at the state level of government. With the exception of War Criminals.
The Drug War- About as effective as Prohibition, the illegalization of Drugs creates incentive for organized Criminal activity, creating more crime than it prevents.
The notion that the Federal Govt. Can tell you how you should treat your body is preposterous, if we are banning Harmful Substances, we may as well ban McDonalds. Tobacco related Lung Cancer kills more people each year than Heroin and Crack Cocaine combined. The Organized Crime associated with these drugs is the most harmful part of Drug addiction, and without the incentive for an illegal drug trade the violence would be non-existant.
Abortion- Dr. Paul introduced a bill that defines Life as beginning at Conception. It was voted down by Republicans and Democrats alike.
But aside from that view, the penalty for murder is left up to the states, why should Abortion be different? Federal Govt. Involvement is bad. Liberals want a large Fed. Govt, and lately Republicans seem to have followed suit.
This country was founded on people governing themselves from the bottom up, because many issues are dynamic, not black and white. The same solution does not work in every circumstance in every community.
Hence our Founding Fathers promotion of Local Govt. over Federal Govt.
While Social issues are important to me, the Economy always has, and always will be the lifeblood of any society. Without a strong Economy you will never have a strong nation.
Printing money without any real value to back it up has caused runaway inflation.
Gas prices are high you say? Oil has gone up %300 in relation to the USD over 10 years, %200in relation to the Euro. However, Gold and Oil have maintained a consistant value compared to the Dollar.
This means if our dollar were still backed by Gold, the price of oil would not have gone up over the past 10 years. However, the value of Gold, and therefore the value of the dollar would be rising, not falling like it is today.

I am a life long Republican, lawyer, and defender of the Constitution. Thank you for giving me more reasons to vote for Ron Paul. Dr. Paul truly wants a smaller Federal Government that stands by Constitution. He understands that government can not pick and choose freedoms based on who is in power. If the government has that power then no one is free.

"Abortion is simply not a constitutional issue." He is partly right when he says this. Abortion is largly a cultural issue that is reflective of the people. Even though I do believe in a constitutional amendmant against any abortion, It would be almost impossible to enforce without the will of the people. You have to remember that our culture is for the most part in support of abortion. You would have never had to even worry about this in the 1800's because the culture would have never had it.

Wow nice logic on the existence of crime. /sarcasm. Drug use is only a crime because it is made a crime by law. Laws are not always correct in their judgement. By your logic we would still be having a prohibition on alcohol.

You make reasonable arguments that he doesn't follow the party line completely, but do you consider why he has does beliefs? The only way to ban abortion in to pass an amendment to the constitution, something he has introduced and voted against, because he believes that only local government should have power over such issues, just like they do on other crimes. Unlike the rest, he holds the constitution above his own personal beliefs where federal government is concerned.

I can understand people views on gays or right to life but that is not the Federal governments to job to get involved in. Your state and You are the best to decide issues such as that. What good for Alabama may not be good for California. That should be easy for anyone to understand.

Death Penalty cont.- In this video, you label it as "the Federal Death Penalty".
The Death Penalty should only be at the state level of government. With the exception of War Criminals.
The Drug War- About as effective as Prohibition, the illegalization of Drugs creates incentive for organized Criminal activity, creating more crime than it prevents.

The notion that the Federal Govt. Can tell you how you should treat your body is preposterous, if we are banning Harmful Substances, we may as well ban McDonalds. Tobacco related Lung Cancer kills more people each year than Heroin and Crack Cocaine combined. The Organized Crime associated with these drugs is the most harmful part of Drug addiction, and without the incentive for an illegal drug trade the violence would be non-existant.

Abortion- Dr. Paul introduced a bill that defines Life as beginning at Conception. It was voted down by Republicans and Democrats alike.
But aside from that view, the penalty for murder is left up to the states, why should Abortion be different? Federal Govt. Involvement is bad. Liberals want a large Fed. Govt, and lately Republicans seem to have followed suit.

This country was founded on people governing themselves from the bottom up, because many issues are dynamic, not black and white. The same solution does not work in every circumstance in every community.
Hence our Founding Fathers promotion of Local Govt. over Federal Govt.

All of this being said.
Social issues are best dealt with on the local level.
As are Economic issues, but Economic issues require more of an overriding Federal Policy as it deals with international relations.

While Social issues are important to me, the Economy always has, and always will be the lifeblood of any society. Without a strong Economy you will never have a strong nation.
Printing money without any real value to back it up has caused runaway inflation.

Gas prices are high you say? Oil has gone up %300 in relation to the USD over 10 years, %200in relation to the Euro. However, Gold and Oil have maintained a consistant value compared to the Dollar.
This means if our dollar were still backed by Gold, the price of oil would not have gone up over the past 10 years. However, the value of Gold, and therefore the value of the dollar would be rising, not falling like it is today.

Gay Marriage- Dr. Paul wants this to be a state's rights issue. Leaders on the Left and the Right want to amend the constitution to further their views. In this scenario nobody is happy.
Death Penalty- I disagree with Paul on the Death Penalty, the one issue he has changed his policy on, but there have been many questionable cases of people being wrongly executed, and the Death Penalty should never be taken lightly.
