Yeah this video is from the later Geoff Edwards years. I liked the original (1986-1991 )theme song, intro, and platform better than the 1991-1994 Edwards version or any version since then.
Fortunately, somebody else posted a video dated from 08/22/1987 here on You Tube which has the original theme songs. It brought back lots of memories.
Geoff Edwards was replaced by Larry Anderson who was host from 1995-1996. Both Geoff and Larry lost their job as host when they both made the same fateful mistake while playing "The Big Spin"... both host's made the premature call of
calling out the winning amount ($1,000,000) while the wheel was still spinning, and the ball came out of the $lot called out by the host, and landed in a smaller amount. In both cases the contestant "contested" the mistake, they got their $1,000,000 while both Geoff & Larry lost their job shortly afterwards. Talk about a tough Bosses!
Yeah, do you have any more of the original Big Spin episodes from the 80's. I was born today 23 years ago, and I was raised in San Diego, California. I remember watching the 80's version of the Big Spin. The music was so awesome, and I definitely miss the balloon drops!
Well until Pat Finn took over in '99, the shows top prize was $2,000,000 on the wheel. there was also spaces called decision (take $50,000 or spin again) which was removed when pat took the helm, and now the current wheel has triples on top of 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 60, 75, 100, and 1M (inflation came upon the CA lottery)
I know he left in 94 or 95, because thats when Larry Anderson took over, the set revamped, the wheel did (somewhat) and the theme did to the much more annoying one (yes i LOVED this theme)
i like the stage set during gallagher's era

California lotto sucks as of current. They only have 2 decent games. In the old days they had a lot of games.

I recall a lady once sued the lottery in 1986 for such an incident.

I unfortunately don't have any additional of these. Only saw it during the time with Geoff Edwards hosting, and only have this clip of it.

This was likely from 1992-1994 beause Geoff Edwards left The Big Spin in December of '94 after a contract dispute.
