@TheTarrMan yeah i run a 25:1 ratio to keep the engine in great condition, only high quality 2-stroke oil, my spark plug seal was getting worn so it was letting oil seep out from the compression
The play in the ring and connecting rod looks normal for a "high mileage" 2-cycle. You are going to want to replace the gaskets just for good measure. Looks like it's running rich and also looks like the air filter isn't doing its job.
did you clean up the piston before you put it back together looks grimy af

@macuser575 nope, just a little crusty oil, rather keep it there than scratch the top of the piston taking it off... its really dried on

P.S. 2-cycle engine are suppose to run a little rich, but that looks like its running excessively rich.
