  • Lesson. never invite a house guest with the name doodles.

  • THANK YOU for posting this ! I remember watching these shorts on WPIX-TV Channel 11 (New York) in the late 60's / early 70's.

  • Classic stuff use to watch this all the time on WPIX Ch 11 in New York what a great station back in the 70s

  • I loved this show!

  • what an awesome piece of my great childhood memories! thanks for posting it :)

  • Doodles is probably best known for being a wacky vocalist in Spike Jones band. I loved these little shorts as a kid. You knew it was dumb, but laughed anyway. I guess we knew Doodles was putting us on. (We knew he was actually pretty sharp from listening to him sing "the Man on the Flying trapeze" & the horse race skit) Amazing what you can do with one camera and no live dialogue . They must have filmed these on Saturdays with a borrowed camera, LOL.

  • Wow...the last time I saw this was over 40 years ago, when I was a little kid. What great memories! Doodles Weaver was like Charlie Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy, Peter Sellers, and the Three Stooges, all rolled into one! If any more of these sketches are still around, I would love to see them. Thanks for posting!

  • Oh man, you and me both.

I was 5 around 1969 or 1970, and also remember seeing it on WPIX 11 (which is where I would soon get my groove on for Chiller Theatre.)

When I saw this again here at Youtube, one thing that I instantly remembered was in the end credits, where Doodles opens the box and the monster hand comes out, with that piano music in the background.

Thank God for such innocent and fun filled programming, and may you RIP, Mr. Weaver, we'll see you again :-)

  • Yes, the last time I saw this was on WPIX-TV [New York] in 1972-'73, where it was seen as "filler" after "The Little Rascals", 'Earl'...

  • I loved these skits as a kid.

I remember Carol Corbet hosting a show called The Patchwork Family on CBS back in the late 60s early 70s , with a puppet named Rags.

  • Does anybody know if this program aired in NYC during the '70s?

  • I remember Carol Corbett! Another NY person, eh? Remember the Buckaroo 500 Show that was on at lunchtime?

  • Yes, I recall this show being on in the late morning/early afternoon hours on weekdays. Our grammmar school allowed the students to leave the school premises for lunch hour. I used to go home for lunch and watch Doodles, Carol Corbett and Gumby --- all on around the noon-hour. What fun, I miss those old days. Golden age television!

  • wikipedia noted how doodles was an alcholic. a crusty the clown for the swinging 60s?

  • I thought it was sigourney's father?

  • Hard to believe this is Sigourney's uncle...he was a sight gag master

  • I first watching Mr.Weaver's "Day With Doodles

Weaver"tv film comedies on "The Mighty Hercules

TV Cartoon Show"with Ms.Carol Corbett on WPIX

TV Ch.11 in NYC from April,1965 to April,1968.

  • I always enjoyed this show as a kid back in the late 60s/early 70s.
