they say doom 4 is supposed to be more like the original doom games. I didn't really care much for doom 3 - it was just so dark, it was hard to see what was going on most of the time. the horror aspect was nice, but really, I just want doom 4 to be like this - loads of bad guys, and enough ammo to put them all down - nothing gimmicky. just slugging it out to max out the body count ^_^.

The level design on this is so fiendish. I've just finished TNT Evilution and its repeated huge open area fire trade-offs got stale- then I played this tiny level and had a blast with all the claustrophobia. The chainsaw definitely comes into its own here.

Early on, it's about making every shot count. If you can kill all the Cacodemons at the start without expending too much ammo/health, you've just earned yourself some considerable breathing room.

I have Doom downloaded from the Xbox Live Arcade. I'm working on getting the achievement for beating this episode on Hurt Me Plenty difficulty or higher, and I was stuck. However, thanks to this awesome video, I just now beat it! (= haha, thank you for uploading this! You beasted it up! =)

Perfect Hatred is the hardest level in Ultimate Doom. The rest aren't so bad because you've generally got more room to maneuver and more ammo. Perfect hatred sucks largely because you're still early in the episode, probably don't have a backup or much ammo built up yet, and you're expected to fight like 10 barons of hell right off the bat. Still doesn't compare to some of the Plutonia levels though.

if possible, you should sometimes let the Baron attack the Cacodemon accidentally and watch them fight. Once they drain eachother's health, you can attack them. I'm just giving an idea.

OK so I finally beat episode 4 today. E4M2 and E4M6 are the two hardest maps in the episode. E4M1 is the most unforgiving simply because there are practically no ways to restore health. All others are relatively simple, if a bit tricky in places.

Thank god they at least have the courtesy to stock you up at the end of this and at the start of E4M3 so that you don't enter the next level COMPLETELY ammo-drained.

I've beaten this level on UV *today*, though I had a little shotgun from E4M1. Man, what a beast of a level.

After this, it's smooth sailing until you hit E4M6.

Right now, I'm at E4M7 and so far it isn't that hard.

E4M2 seems to be the hardest "official" Doom level ever.

Use the button on the left between Ctrl and Caps Lock. The button with an arrow. It will make you sprint making it able to cross the cap in the beginning of this level.

God I hate that level. it's without a doubt the hardest Doom level on Ultimate Doom but you seem to have done it very well. I like practicing with that level to memorize the keyboard.

ICD and Cold Hard Cash are, IMO, the best weapons mods out for Doom. before ZDoom's DECORATE, DDF was the KING of easy editing.

It still blows Dehacked out of the water.

It's still capable of some things that DECORATE is useless at without a bunch of ACS scripting.

I'm pretty well-versed at both formats, but I still prefer DDF. Especially when it comes to fully replacing weapons/monsters - the originals still exist in zdoom/gzdoom/skulltag.pk3, and as such can still be inadvertantly placed/equipped, which can cause all sorts of problems in certain game modes.

Well thanks to you I finally completed Perfect Hatred in 10 mins on Hurt Me Plenty. Got 98% kills cuz I didn't know how to kill the Cyberdemon. But was pretty epic.

Any tips for Sever the Wicked? I got owned from the get go.. :-(
