We are called Jews because that is the largest tribe (I never heard of a tribe being a religion but an ethnic group or a national group) Judah was the largest tribe and even the Benjamineite (of the tribe of Benjamin an dnot Judah) was called the "Jew" which by the time of the Persian period was interchangeable with "Israeli" or "Israelite."
