  • I like Stephen King, even though I'm nearly immune to getting scared, as I grew up in a horror-lover type of family, but I always found it hard to get past his character dialogue. It always seemed unnatural to me. Anyway, I vote Salem's Lot as the top. Something about it I just really dig, and I'm not entirely sure what it is, even if the Shining was better written.

  • I love the shining

  • The shining should be number one

  • Carrie,Misery, and The Regulators

  • My favorite King novels are in this order. One The green mile. Two The dark tower series. Three Hearts in atlantis Four Salems Lot . I seen were nobody ranked Hearts in atlantis . For the people that has never read it i would highly recommend it. As for his short stories my favorites are The shawshank redemption. Dolans cadillac. Riding the bullet.

  • The Shining is the best book EVER!!!!!!!

  • I agree with #1

  • And Needful Things

  • I read Misery Pet Sematary Long Walk Rage Under The Dome Salems Lot Christine Eyes of the Dragon and part of DreamCatcher

  • I'd have

    1. Geralds Game

    2. IT but the ending sucked! rest was good !

    3. Under the dome I know I know

But I am currently reading 11.22.63 and so far it is a real page turner!

  • @ladyxxmacbeth Under The Dome would have been better if the time frame of it was a lot longer than a week. I failed to see how people could be that desperation only after a few days. Still it was a somewhat fast entertaining read for such a long novel

  • Did you have to play music that sounds like it belongs in a low budget King flick... The irony is it most likely is and that's why you did it

  • Skeleton Crew is not a novel.

  • Pre-Stephen King, I really kind of liked clowns.

  • And by the way. Christine is so criminally underrated that I am personally thinking to do a list of great underrated works by King. Bachman Books, especially, the Long Walk are other underrated gems.

  • Comment removed

  • no one ever counts his books as richard bachman

  • @YTAntiTheist Ditto. I like all of them. Thinner is my favorite.

  • I'm reading IT right now, my first Stephen King book, at 13 years old. I've seen many Stephen King movies, but so far the IT book is unbelievable...

  • @flamesfan1417 Good for you bro. I read IT as my first Stephen King book at 13 too.

  • I'm only 13 so I'm just getting into him :P I started thinner but lost the book :'C then I tried IT but it was a bit too hard so I started the shining and its perfect ! :D

  • @tsphilly98 dude if u get into it at thirteen thats like the perfect age ive been into stephen king since i was seven and let me tell u every time i see one of his books its like when a girls goes shopping

  • @thisiswhatjackhastoS read em misery then cujo then Christine.

  • Out of the books I've read so far, I'd say my top two favorites are Bag of Bones and IT. Such epic tales of tragedy. By the way, what is this song? It's very catchy hahaha.

  • I just bought Misery, Christine, and Cujo while Half Price books was having a sale. Which one should I read first? And please give your opinion based on the novel, not the movie. Thanks :)

  • What's the name of this song?

  • Bag of Bones should've been on here! & Insomnia. ;)

  • IT should be #1 it was the best book I've read in my life AMAZING

  • i masturbated to this song

  • @rickrosh1990 I already did that last Tuesday.

  • What's the song?

  • I've wanted to read Skeleton Crew for sooooo long.

  • ive reacently been suffering form insomnia

  • just finished the shining. SUCH A MASTERPIECE!!

  • Dreamcatcher should be on the list.

  • I'm not seeing Under The Dome.......

  • IT is the best book ever written.

  • @TheBuehler4 No it's not, it's among the best though.

  • @TheBuehler4 Yes agreed, yes agreed

  • I am reading the shining and it is a great book!

  • good choice;)

  • i hate all of stephen kings books they give me nightmares that make me pee my pants

  • Your top three are pretty interchangable. All depends on what interests you the most...psychological horror, good vs. evil, or childhood vs. the monster under the bed. If I had to choose one that was missing it would be Bag of Bones. And one IMO that didn't belong? I didn't think there was anything special about Cujo. It was pretty much straightforward with forgettable characters...

  • Your top 2 are great. IT and THE SHINING. NEEDFUL THINGS is also great. And if you haven't read his novella "THE LANGOLIERS" that you can find in one of his collections, I think 4 PAST MIDNIGHT, then you should, because that story is flat out amazing.

  • im agree with you bro greetings from mazatlan mexico amigo.

  • pet semmatary my all time favourite

  • Carrie's my favorite.

  • The Green Mile is his best work.

  • The Dark Tower series will always be att the top 4 me

  • the talisman definitely belongs on this list

  • I hope my library has the stand... books long as hell but I have a car trip to read it on

  • The Dark Tower connects half of his books together, like the Stand and Salem's Lot.

  • Stephen king, is an awesome writer. Especially his older books.

  • The shining, the stand and It are no doubt some of the greatest books EVAH!!

  • good books (some of them great) but what about his work post 1986? Bag of Bones is fantastic as is Gerald's Game, Hearts in Atlantis and many of the Dark Tower novels...

  • It FTW, just finished it

  • All good books, not in the right order at all.

  • I watched Carrie and it was frickin awesome . great cinematograpghy

  • My top three are:

    3:IT

    2:The Stand

1:The Dark Tower (I count them all as one big book)

  • @Legionbass19 I totally agree with that list.

  • You got a good taste of books! But personly i think that it is little better then the shining, but we are al different right? Lame cover for the shining by the way, i was thinking about buying cujo, but the book only costs 3 cents, cujo arent bad right?

  • @MrZodion Cujo is great! I read it last year and loved it.

  • @Legionbass19 Your right, i have read it now and its great.

  • @MrZodion it's not that scary, its mainly rape:L

  • HOW THE FUCKING HELL IS THE SHINING BETTER THAN THE GUNSLINGER???????

  • wait...is skeleton crew just a book with a bunch of short stories?

  • @THEBROWNIEISBLUE a bunch of short stories

  • @taffycool ohhh thnx

  • What's this song called?

  • i like this list with the exception of pet cemetery. I found that book highly annoying.

also while he is listed as co author. I think talisman is prob my fav stephen king

  • @lostpunkrock So you have read Pet Sematary? Do you think a 13 year old would be able to understand whats going on it the book? Or is it too confusing?

  • @Nanodae I didnt think it was confusing just silly. If you want a really good stephen king book for all ages get em talisman (was and still is my fav stephen king book)

  • My three favs are 3 - Salem's lot 2 - The Stand 3- IT

ive never read skelton crew but i would love to

  • Come baby Asian ladies #lushfmlk.info#

  • I def agree with #1 :) Out of the 11 books I've read so far, The Shining is definitely the best one :)

  • No way out man Asian women #lushfmlk.info#

  • Your right, the shining was the best, but no Dreamcatcher? It should have atleast been number 10!

  • The Gunslinger was EPIC. 'Salem's Lot was AWESOME I have not read Pet Sematary yet Misery was okay Haven't read Skeleton Crew Cujo was AMAZING! Carrie was RAWESOME! Haven't read The Stand Haven't read It The Shining was amazing!
  • @commentaryisgood pet cemetery is the best

  • @commentaryisgood the stand, it and the shining are considered by soon to be his best.

  • @commentaryisgood The Stand is awesome, you should read it

  • @MrZodion I recently finished the stand, complete and uncut and it was epic!!

  • i have all stephen king novels and books cuz im a king FANATIC!

  • Wow....almost all of these turned into movies

  • Why dont we ever see Rose Madder in any of the lists about Stephen King?...ive heard its a great book but im wondering why its never one a list?...

  • haha Stephanie Meyer wish she had a list like this... LAME! Shell go back to dayjob after all 472 of her fans move on to high school.

DARK TOWER > tweenage werewolves and premature vampires

  • Respond to this video... 0:45 HUH MONKEY BOMB

  • The shining was not only scary without warning, but extremely well written, FAVORITE BOOK OF ALL TIME

  • @dannybagoo

Really , i havent read it but everytime i go to waterstones or something to buy another Stephen king book i always see it but never buy it ....i seen the movie didnt really like it ?

Is the book better than the movie ?

  • @becca0668 I didn't like the movie much. After reading a couple more of stephen king I realized it wasn't that scary (after reading IT and pet sematary) but the book was extremely well written. You'll enjoy it. The movie strays off from the book in a lot of ways, most of them if I mentioned it would just be a shitload of spoilers, but since you saw the movie first there will still be parts that will shock you

  • Stephen king is a great author!

nice list... I Realy recommend the short story "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption" in "Different Seasons". Its realy great

  • That's it Stephene King's it is the bomb.

  • i dont completely agree... i think misery should be higher on the list.. i love it :D

  • Great list! :D

    What's the theme, btw?

  • Great list! :D

    What's the theme, btw?

  • Good list but Carrie was 1973

  • @Kidzkommedy Sorry I was wrong

  • I just started reading some of his books. How come the Dead Zone didn't make the list? I liked that book a lot. Good list though.

  • king is the best author in the world other authors are a buch of chicken shit cunt lickers

  • Great list. I have'nt got into the whole Dark Tower series yet,but otherwise I've read your list. The first King novel I ever read was Salem's Lot. The kid hovering outside the other kids window kept me from sleeping for a week. I've just purchased, but have yet to read, his newest,Under The Dome.
