I love the riff/verse this song, especially the "Fate - this word's a dying planet". It reminds me of Ian Gillan's phrasing in A Gypsy's Kiss (Deep Purple). The chorus doesn't quite work for me but the rest of the song picks up the slack. Kai is still the master.

Musically powermetal has become stale, redundant and boring... I have been listening to Kai and Helloween / Gamma Ray since the 80s/90s.

He needs to get a singer. His vocals are ruining the potential his music direction has. He never fails to impress me musically, especially his guitar playing, but then he sings and the song is ruined.

Does this remind anyone of Eagle Fly Free from keeper 2? He wrote both, it sounds like he is trying to emulate it.

I love that you say something insightful and thought-provoking and the fanboys rate your comment down. Like you, I love power metal but agree 100% with everything you say. His vocals are adequate at best, and bring down the music at worse. If he had a Tim Owens-type voice to compliment the music, they would be a vastly more solid band.

On a side note, Kai really doesn't do much guitar playing, at least not live. When I saw them last year with Helloween, (tbc)

Henjo did all the lead work, including solos, melodies, and lead riffing. If you listen when Kai is singing, there is often only one guitar playing, and that is Henjo. After seeing him live, I have to say that Henjo is the true guitar god of Gamma Ray. (my comments are in response to xael btw)
