This hull is still lying around unfinished, and unlikely to be. There are heaps of discussion on boatdesign net about how impractical this approach. Will hasn't been seen on his web site, or here for two years, so he must be laying low.
bravo!! I'v had this idea also for several years!! is this built the same as concrete boats? no aggragete and lots of layers of screen and rebar? also what about cement additives such as acrylic or latex? all the literature for cement boat building is from the 70s
Hi Wilfried, its looking really good and I hope all the hard work has not taken too much of a toll on you. Your original dream of luxry yacht subs is a beautiful dream and something I will see within my lifetime. You are one of the first to offer such a thing and I hope it happens with one you build. I still dream of the adventures to be had from touring on such a vessel and still hope to be considered for a crew member in the future. Regards, William N
Hi Wilfried! Loving your concrete subs, man! Quick question though - what is the max depth you have taken your own c-sub? I've seen a lot of discussion on various forums regarding theoretical crush depth, but nothing so far about diving in any 'real world' conditions..
Concrete pressure hulls are in use on large scale as we speak. Troll A has reached under real world conditions during construction 350m and is now at 303m depth in use. Experiments on concrete spheres has been published down to 1500m in long term studies.
