Disclaimer: No African parent would ever let their kid near a wild animal. Even those African tribes that kept their traditional ways of life don't frolic around with wild animals, and never did. This is a purely Western (read "white") thing to do. And there's nothing 'African' about it at all. So this whole documentary/movie is a load of bull crap. "Bridging a gap"? WTF is that supposed to mean?
That being said, it's amazing that she was able to live with wild animals...that is all.
@myuzeefreak Where in the trailer does it say this is a traditional African lifestyle? It's about a girl raised by French parents in an African setting. Maybe some youtube viewers have some misconceptions about the film and leave ridiculous comments, but I'm not sure how the film itself is entirely bullshit because of their stupidity.
@MyNameIsBret Maybe you should listen to the words in the trailer again, or read the comments below. Apparently Tippi "rediscovers Africa". Now unless Namibia encompasses all 54 African countries, I don't see how she was able to do that. And rediscovering implies previous discovery. She wasn't the first person to ever set foot on the African continent, so there is no way she could have discovered Africa in the first place. Also, by writing "African setting", you justify my comment.
@myuzeefreak - It is referring to her own personal rediscovering of Africa. Never said anything about her being the first person to set foot in Africa. Why must you twist things? SInce I discovered a pond at the back my new property, it doesn't imply I am the first one to ever see the pond. Please...go look up the word discover, hopefully you can understand it's meaning without twisting it to suit your sense of all-knowing superiority.
@MyNameIsBret There are so many things wrong with this documentary it's hard to know where to even start criticizing it. If you can't see them, then you still have your "Africa-the-Dark-Continent" goggles on and there's no way you will understand anything unless you take them off.
If so many viewers have misconceptions about the film, what does that say about the film itself? Ruminate on that.
@myuzeefreak Okay, you're taking the trailer's words way too literally. Of course it's not traditional African living-style. OF COURSE most mothers wouldn't allow their children to take that risk, the point is is that Tippi had a very unique life style there and it made her aware in other ways most people never become. It's supposed to portray her as kind, gentle, and close to nature... None of which you seem to be or understand.
@rachaelswiftt My post was in response to the many people who left comments on here who seemed completely clueless, i.e the kind of person you are describing me as, which I am not. This was also a response to some of the stereotypes that the documentary does not bluntly state, but are REALLY obvious to any African who has ever come into contact with ignorant white people. And if you speak French, you will notice the slight discrepancies between what the narrator says and what Tippi herself says.
@FlashFWD it's just playing. My cat does that all the time, lots of cats do. Of course, my cat couldn't tear me to shreds on a whim, though they say that all cats, no matter how small, think themselves tigers.

How stupid could a parent be in letting a young child play with dangerous, wild animals. As you saw with the wild cat there, it could of resulted in a much different outcome. I am appalled at this video that any parent would put their child in a dangerous position....SHAME on you!!!!!!
That's a very stupid thing to say. I own the book she wrote, when she was 10, and she explained cleasrly that her parents had complete confidence in the animals, and that she was aware it could be dangerous. She is sure to have a gift to speak to animals. She was raised surrounded by a variety of different things thatn you probably were, that is all. You should respect that.
@groovychick25 Wow, all a trailer needs to do is play some 'whimsical' music and your brain just shuts the hell down. Yet, if this girl's parents were in the news for having their girl killed for some romantic photography op, you'd want her head on a spike. People piss me off for not being able to think for themselves. You should learn to respect people who can.
@lisypoo12 Yeah your right, she should be playing violent play station games instead and watching the brain numbing idiot box for a dose of more violent. How stupid can some people be...ooh...I'm not taking about Tipp's mother, I'm taking about you.

But now that I started, I don't want to disappoint you.
So I'll start picking on the complete New Age movement if you wish.
According to your channel and name I take the liberty of categorizing you in that group as well.
Most of that Esoteric crap is something I like to call "Creation of New Religion" or "Yo man, I pick pieces of traditional paths because I'm bored and because I like single stuff and not the whole stuff so I build my own mix together"
I mean it's like your whole group thinks that the ultimate secret to life and the universe has to be to their liking and so they can just pick whatever they like, ripping it apart from completely everything else from where the idea originated from.
Comparable to that whole christian crap.
Taking the stuff they like and ignoring the rest of the bible.
You guys and those guys are making even less sense than the whole senseless area of spirituality and religion.
no one's gonna believe me but i used to know that girl actually when we were younger!:)
k im telling u, when i was like 5 or 4, i went to Madagascar, because of my dad's work and she also went to madagascar for a photoshoot and then, we met and i think my parents are still friends with hers...
i bible that i'm not lying.
and we went to the restaurant and she started to climb like in the trees and it was really awkward
Well actually she was pretty fun, when she first came at my house, there's was a wall, like it's hard to explain but our dog was behind the wall, and she climbed and it was really funny, my mom was freaked out, haha and she told a secret to my sister and she didn't want to tell me about it... But i found out the secret actually haha
This is amazing, very touching. It gives me the creeps to read that there are too many people out there that watch too much US TV. You have a higher chance getting shot at a 7-11 than getting eaten by a wild animal, as long as you respect their presence. I wish we were all a little more in touch with nature.
why suddenly is this girl getting all this attention? the story is genuine, it is documented. But we never see Tippi, there are only images of her as a child...seems like someone's exploiting her story to sell the book.
This is very dangerous. Humans are not animals like this. It allways will get out of control in one moment. Humans can't even succesfully communicate whit other humans..
Typically dutch comment....always looking for the negative side of things!!! If you could understand what they say you would hear that she could be a link between europe and africa, help us understand africa.... for a young black kid from Africa it would be more difficult as there might be a culture gap...thats why the movie is called BRIDGING the gap to Africa!! So before you give your negative Telegraaf-style nagging comment try to listen well and appreciate this short movie instead!
Let's look at the positives untill the child gets eaten alive like the men that lived with the bears. I'm sure the child will link a bridge between Africa and Europe. "NOT"
Saw Tippi on a documentary appearing to be a pretty disturbed person, unintegrated into the temporal world. A solitary childhood, plus fame in France did not make for a happy girl. I personally dislike children being "lab rats" for adult experiments. It almost always turns out badly as the children grow. Youngsters WANT to please their caregivers, but people pleasing can stymie personal happiness. Self actualization is a tricky thing for the average child, let alone one in the spotlight.
I heard of a series on Animal Planet she was in a while back, but never got myself to see it. Very interesting story. But Africa's problems are essentially due to the people not being able to come together, where latent individual greed manifests itself so viciously should the opportunity arise, and where plenty of common ground can be found ,but none ever is.
And no, Tippi is not the lost illegitimate child of Sarah Palin...I am. My name's Tupper, illegally adopted son of Michael Ware.
i think this would be a cool documentary on national geographic channel... since this girls fathers are wildlife photographers, that would be the coolest thing...
This film is really about how we as humanity should live in the nature, instead of hiding away from, dwelling in the boring cities. Who wouldn't want a life like hers, in the nature! with raw elements of pure creation
I once saw a documentary baout here waaaay back.she was living in paris and didn't like it much and was constanly crying most of the time on camera.missing africa
I'd be crying also if I had to live in Paris ;) I think she has big enough presence in the media to become financially independent and go back to live Africa. I think it's good that she had a perspective of living in city against living in the nature, it will only make her stronger and even more appreciative of raw life in the nature.
In fact... if I were that girl, I'd superimpose that and make a documentary film about how people need to return back to more elemental life. Superimpose city life against nature life.
You know here in California some parents with large families put one or more of their kids at risk its called "taking one for the team, LOL!" Poor Tippi's parents seem determined that she will be a star or die trying -- either way, they make out like bandits -- and some poor underfed wild creatures get a snack!
does anyone know about or have a link to an interview or something recent with Tippi??

that a lot of the New Age Esoteric crap-movement is female, and that many of them find ideas of spiritual superiority to men appealing)
Raping of spiritual traditions I call it
You're doing great for the equality cause, by the way.
Zerkezhi 1 year ago
@DeathShamans
But now that I started, I don't want to disappoint you.
So I'll start picking on the complete New Age movement if you wish.
According to your channel and name I take the liberty of categorizing you in that group as well.
Most of that Esoteric crap is something I like to call "Creation of New Religion" or "Yo man, I pick pieces of traditional paths because I'm bored and because I like single stuff and not the whole stuff so I build my own mix together"
fyi I'm an atheist.
Zerkezhi 1 year ago
@DeathShamans

Elogirly18 3 years ago
wow really? what was it like meeting her? I knew about her show back in 2004 when i was 14. I was a big and touched by her great love for animals
TomboyCactus101 2 years ago
Well actually she was pretty fun, when she first came at my house, there's was a wall, like it's hard to explain but our dog was behind the wall, and she climbed and it was really funny, my mom was freaked out, haha and she told a secret to my sister and she didn't want to tell me about it... But i found out the secret actually haha
Elogirly18 2 years ago
lol i love climbing all sorts of things too; walls, trees, ancient sites...
so whats the secret?
XD
TomboyCactus101 2 years ago
LOL idk about the secret, my sister didn't tell me.
Elogirly18 2 years ago
but you said you found out about it XD nevermind. nice story, hopefully you get to meet her again someday
TomboyCactus101 2 years ago
Well, yes, actually I found out about it, but without my sister, she's not the one who told me :)

I was crying when I look at this. I knew her several years ago and her friendship with Africa and wild animals are so touching!

Elogirly18 3 years ago
This is amazing, very touching. It gives me the creeps to read that there are too many people out there that watch too much US TV. You have a higher chance getting shot at a 7-11 than getting eaten by a wild animal, as long as you respect their presence. I wish we were all a little more in touch with nature.

why suddenly is this girl getting all this attention? the story is genuine, it is documented. But we never see Tippi, there are only images of her as a child...seems like someone's exploiting her story to sell the book.

I think there's an even bigger gap. The one that separates nature from man.

This is very dangerous. Humans are not animals like this. It allways will get out of control in one moment. Humans can't even succesfully communicate whit other humans..

There is probably hunderds of black children like this, but as a white girl she gets the attention. Very sad.

So before you give your negative Telegraaf-style nagging comment try to listen well and appreciate this short movie instead!
sfynxx 3 years ago
Let's look at the positives untill the child gets eaten alive like the men that lived with the bears. I'm sure the child will link a bridge between Africa and Europe. "NOT"

IS THERE A GAP MISSING TO AFRICA? hahhahaa nice dude
xyukifangirlx 3 years ago

This film is really about how we as humanity should live in the nature, instead of hiding away from, dwelling in the boring cities. Who wouldn't want a life like hers, in the nature! with raw elements of pure creation
subbanda 3 years ago 3
I once saw a documentary baout here waaaay back.she was living in paris and didn't like it much and was constanly crying most of the time on camera.missing africa
leiefilm 3 years ago
I'd be crying also if I had to live in Paris ;) I think she has big enough presence in the media to become financially independent and go back to live Africa. I think it's good that she had a perspective of living in city against living in the nature, it will only make her stronger and even more appreciative of raw life in the nature.
subbanda 3 years ago
In fact... if I were that girl, I'd superimpose that and make a documentary film about how people need to return back to more elemental life. Superimpose city life against nature life.
subbanda 3 years ago
i AGREE. BE NO FUN LIVING IN PARIS when you could live in africa

I hope the guardians are put in jail when the poor kid has an accident.
1234jncn 3 years ago
You know here in California some parents with large families put one or more of their kids at risk its called "taking one for the team, LOL!" Poor Tippi's parents seem determined that she will be a star or die trying -- either way, they make out like bandits -- and some poor underfed wild creatures get a snack!
