  • Love the video. Hate that the beautiful sounds of soaring were covered up.

  • I like the video and the music.

  • A very good video ruined by compete crap so called music

  • @mikeeiley Fuck you, thank you very much!

  • which glider at 0:00? asw28 or asw27b? thx

  • i HAD NO idea Sail Planes could fly this high either. This is a shock. I thought their celing was much lower than this.

  • @blaumausfrau Actually, they fly higher than commercial planes, and higher than most combat jet's operational ceiling. Not all the time, but for record attempts, and utilizing a very powerful phenomena known as Wave lift. Look it up :)

  • ohhhhh ilove it waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw

  • im liking the music

  • Could someone please help me remind the name of the song again? ;p Thanks !

  • @ThommyBoy1993 Lenny Kravitz- Fly Away, just type it into you tube.

  • at this alt you may encounter big planes.. >X<

  • Chek my most rescent upload on my page of gliding! It is of me and my friend in New Zealand formation flying around the mountains ad doing fly bys!

    New Zealand Juniours

  • Nothing like Wave Soaring. Look for the Lenny's

  • ??????

  • Nice ! What's the name of the song ?

  • @janrusgo You know the little annoying advertisements at the bottom of the video? Well it says the song name and artist, RIGHT ON IT! =P It's Fly Away by Lenny Kravitz

  • @deathleader52 yes ive seen it :) thanks !

  • Great fiim, really enjoyed it, 1st class footage. Check out my films about gliding if you have time. All the best..

  • rally a nice video. I am also interested in you ALT.

Correct, that you cannot go over FL110 ?

  • @Scheissdirindiebux you can fly anywhere as long as you meet the airspace requirments. so you cannot fly above 180. to do so u must be able to have constant control of altitude and speed.

  • my looks amazing like a surreal feel

its not common you know to be above the clouds at least for common folk haha

    nice video!

  • wow can really gliders went to clouds too? how amazing

  • @GMkiller008 @GMkiller008 Yes they can, but I am wondering that it's allowed :P

  • @addeffects It doesnt matter if its allowed or not. No one really knows if its allowed without artificial horizon. I dont have one in my Discus CS but you always see the ground doesnt matter how high you are in the cloud, so you cant get disorientated

  • @DummyD1 I'm a pilot on the Grob Vigilant Military Motor Glider at RAF Cosford, we never use our artificial horizon anyway we fly by attitude which brings our speed as we want it should we have the correct rpm but yeah I flew a K 21(I think) conventional glider a few weeks back and I don't think that had one either, I found it extremely fun and it was very different from the Vigilant because we fly it almost like a light powered aircraft anyway. They had a few discus's where I was, they're nice

  • @GMkiller008 Yeah using mountain curents .It is callled wave soaring

  • @GMkiller008 In mountain areas they can. Mountainwaves

  • @GMkiller008 i think its just amazing to imagine a glider climbing faster and higher as powered planes and to be even faster.

  • nice vid nice song, you make me dream!

  • Nice visuals ... wrong music.

  • Nice vid! sweet gliders!

  • what was you ALT?

  • i got a vid of the plane n tug side on. can you watch mine and comment plz

  • Nice in our region its very hard to stay in a thermal but i think thats the sence of soaring ... i love it ...

  • theyr waves not thermals in this vid, nice try to b smart but get the facts right next time!

  • buthow did you get up that highhh ?!

  • Lol, sorry about me being stubborn on the last comment ! You gain the height by going in a themal .... then do you see ... they go just little bit higher, then drop ? thats in the wave lol ! :) thats why they're not circling when they're in the " Thermal"

  • lol nice flying and VERRY nice music choich

in holland we have to work the termals realy hard to stay in the air but its allot of fun

but we cant go above the clouds so.... it realy depens on the weather how high we can go.

  • I fly for Cathay Pacific on the A330.

Gliding has always appealed to me and I will give it a bash one day!

  • Maneouvers/areobatics looked great, felt even better.......What a russsshhhhh.

    Thanks for posting

  • im 14 now and i wiil star my lessons in gliding soon

one thing great about soaring is you cant get engine trouble

  • bro im 14 and I have finished my A badge which means iv been solo hepz

  • congrats, wow,are you really from newsealand?

    i'm 15 and i'm also gliding,but in germany(alps...)

is new sealand really so great like pilots say?

  • I'm 19 and I am going for my commercial pilot license. I'm glad to hear all of you young(er) soaring fanatics being so enthusiastic about the sport. It still amazes me that a plane can gain altitude without an engine!

  • for what airline will you fly?

  • Commercial Pilot Glider, my friend. ;)

  • yes,i thought so,but for what airline will you fly?

    delta,usair,southwest??

  • Haven't planned that far ahead. At the moment, I just want my commercial glider license. lol

  • how about you?

  • lol, sry,my mistake,i thought you re going to make your atpl,if you say in germany sth. about commercial pilot license, everybody thinks you will work for lufthansa...

what are you able to do with a commercial glider license?

  • lol, oi dude do use wave lift (hill soaring)?

i come from Aus and i have to use thermals. pain in the arse but it works, slowly. lol

  • we have all types of thermals,

waves in the alps, ridge lifting near some mountains and thermals nearly everwhere,

  • wow, lucky bastard :P

We have weak, scattered thermals and really have to work them to stay airborne

  • we do also have to work for stying airborne,

i think it must be hard to soar in australia, because of the hot weather,so the differnce of the temperature isn't that big like in europe, and the air climbs less fast

  • it is trust me :P

  • Song ?

  • Lenny Kravitz - Fly Away

  • Thanks dude :)

  • What type of gliders are these on vid?

  • a Janus C (double-seated)

    and an ASW 24

  • thanks very much

  • tarlaila

  • How did you get so high?

  • Wave lifting

  • wave? Like thermals under a cumulus?

  • Yes. Trust me, I'm a Glider pilot. We have 3 ways to lift our plane: Thermal, Ridge and wave lifting. Thermal is under cumulus and wave lifting is the most higher lifting.

  • I'm a glider pilot myself aswell, but I never used the term wave, but I only have one year of exprecience..

  • I have less then 1 year expirience (i'm 15 years old) , and i test all ways to lift my plane. I school with Blanik L-13, and now i'm on DG-303. :)

  • Accually, I'm not a glider pilot yet... But we had several tests to become one, and I past them all, so I can start my lessons at the summer... But It's quiet annoying, having al those tests and theoretical lessons, whitout being able to say you're a pilot XP

    (so sometimes I say I am :p) (BTW, I'm only 16)

  • lol, these idiots are doing this above the alps.

    aerobatics is retarded!

    just fly away...

  • i go fast in planes i have one my self and it,s a gliding plane. the hard part is landing on grass.

  • awesome

  • NICE VID so 10/10 but whats the name of music??? :)

  • name of the song: Lenny Kravitz - Fly away

  • that's a great video.i love this vid!!!!!

  • man i went on a gliding camp with my aviation class and DAMMM it was the best experiance of my life. its all good fun. i defiantly recomend it for any1

  • song goes with the video

  • Can I ask please? When returing to earth, will the pressure cause my ears problems lol? Are they pressurised cabins, because it looks as if your like 7000 feet high?

  • Non-pressurised. You have take oxygen canisters up to go past ~12,000ft when the air gets thin. It's advisable to take thin gloves if you're planning on going past 5,000ft in winter or you can't feel the stick!

  • Cool, thanks alot =]=. Erm, I have been flying with the RAF as im in aircadets, and the Grob Tutor goes to 3000 ft. When were on our decent ny ears really started to hurt, will going even higher be worse?

    Thanks for your reply

  • I've never had that problem. I just swallow and the pressure equalises, but I imagine it would get worse the greater the pressure variation. A decent soaring day will see you fluctuate between 2,000 and 7,000ft as a matter of course during flight (riding the thermals up and gliding back down). I think the British altitude record is ~40,000ft riding wave over Scotland :D

  • starts at 3000Euro ends at 1million euro...something to fly with: 10.000Euro like asw 15 or Cirrus

    sy

  • nice video...but stupid manoevers. Skin of glider at minus 20 Celsius...that brings cracks in the surface(I think its a club gliber)

Would never do it with my own....

  • may is ask you how much a glider costs?

  • wow! stall-speed :D

    nice video! :)

  • That's a ASW 24? Interesting, I thought that was a 27.

  • could be a 27 too, its hard to recognize the differnces. And I got to correct myself, the other plane isn´t a duo discus, it´s a Janus(C, i think)

  • great sight of the duo discus at the end.

asw24 and duo discus are great planes!

  • wow, how high was that?

  • looking at the altimeter (lower left instrument at :23) i would say they were about 7100 feet MSL. or 7100 feet above sea level.

my personal best is 8200 MSL.

  • my best is 7545 foot without a plane, we use a steel rope.

  • you mean altitude gain after tow or do you mean you had a winch?

  • on the ground, we go 400 meter skywards with the winch. with an ask 13

  • ahhh thats pretty cool. at our airport we use aero-tow to 2000 feet.

  • I want to get away.... the Name of the Song!

  • what is the name of thys song??

  • the name of thys song is "Fly Away" Lenny Crabytz

  • wow great vid

  • this gliding stuff looks frekin awesome!

  • Yes, really great movie! Only the closing credits are missing which showed that I was the creator of the movie....

Well in Dutch we say: Better a good steal, than a bad creation.

It was at approx 10000 feet over Sisteron by the way.

  • klopt helemaal, btw waar vlieg je?

  • above 15000 feet??

  • wow, absolutely amazing " I wanna to fly away !!" yeahhh

  • I Love gliding , thank u for sharing, we need moor ; )

  • I Love gliding , thank u for sharing, we need moor ; )

  • in soviet russia, glider glides YOU!

  • THIS IS WHY I JOINED YouTube!!! Thank You for sharing - it's absolutely STUNNINGLY Beautiful!!! And the music you added really puts it into perspective!

Leilani (in Idaho) (who hopes to do the same thing someday!)

  • god i relly miss gliding now nice planes i used 2 fly a k21 and a alfer8 if thats how u spell it lol nice vid

  • Great video!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a Dutchgliderpilot flying living and flying in France: LFPK.

hope to meetyou guys some day!!!

Keep 'm flying: Gliderpioots do it quietly...

  • Very cool

    Nice altitude!

you´re in a wave or on tow ?

    greatings from edlr

  • in deutschland über den wolken^^

  • Hey cool, that's my brother flying that asw24 :-)

  • Good Flying! Were you in wave?

  • What are all those things shooting across the screen at the beginning?

  • plains... i fly the same kind of plains..

  • yes i no they are gliders i fly as well but the little things that shoot across?

  • im going gliding this weekend (saturday)

  • i would if i scould... but in denmark you dont fly more for the year...

  • thats a bummer yeah we get opurtunities all the time but i live in canada so im sure it is differnt

  • this video was made by some Dutch pilots who were bored above those clouds.. that's why they do some crazy stunts.. the place was (I believe) St. Auban..

  • hey everbody in the begining you can see an UFO is there, play slow and stop

  • Ever heard of reflections?

  • Look at the tips on tht!! Thats some incradible gliding! Cool.

  • That must have been in Germany (D-6139) or german Gliders

  • yummm...I'm drooling... ;)

  • this....is....by far....the BEST gliding video ive seen (havnt seen gladiators yet)

  • Heard rumours about St Auban. And yes, it's a nice sport. Best gliding video sadly not on Youtube, but DVD: "Gladiators of the Sky" recorded in New Zealand.

  • hi there, my father is a glider pilot in New Zealand he was wandering wher this is?

  • Germany

  • No south of france

  • aw wish I had that plane

  • Where in the Alps ?

  • Very nice!

  • Good video. Amazing what these gliders can do :)

  • was the last a GD-505?

  • DG 1000 EK from St Auban
