  • Brilliant video! I absolutely love your kinnor, how difficult was it to make?

  • Incredable! God bless Israel!

  • Beautiful!

  • Thank you

  • The full version of SHV's recording is now up on the "rakkav" and "teamim" channels.

  • I haven't put one up based on Suzanne Haik-Vantoura's recording, and I haven't made one of my own. In time, one or the other hopefully will get up! :)

  • I have looked for one myself, but I have not seen one. I plan on doing one soon.

  • From low to high: D E F G# A B C D E F

Its a tuning that Klez sez is common to klezmer music. I used it for 'Hava nagila' and happily found that it is also perfect for this. I am just playing fifths (E & B, and D & A) to keep me on pitch.

I would love to hear you do it.

  • You are a LEGEND, Bro'!!!

  • I am almost ready to do the entire piece. Just waiting on some new fishing line.

  • Thanks! I finished building it about 2 weeks ago, maybe a day or two longer. So far I am just trying different things. Check out Klezfiddle's series of lessons. I will be doing that myself soon. I like cradling the kinnor like a baby when I play, but that will have to change if I am going to do the cool stuff Klez does.

I am off to watch your vid now.

  • The music is very different and I am enjoying exploring it and the instrument. Its good to have you along for the ride!

  • you've been having fun with that kinnor lately! keep it up. i find it fascinating.

  • Cool!

  • Thanks!

  • Hey, not bad at all! Five stars just for attempting this -- no one else on YouTube (so far as I know) has performed Suzanne Haik-Vantoura's transcription of the Shema Yisrael, let alone with kinnor accompaniment. (Your rendition of Hebrew was clear too, for my American ears anyway -- I can't speak for those who have an Israeli or other Middle Eastern accent!)

  • Well, the kinnor was a crutch to keep me honest on some less than familiar intervals. Two down, four verses to go.

    I appreciate your feedback.
