only stuck up assholes use the term "poorman's" in the first place. It's their way of convincing themselves that what they have is better and simultaeously making themselves feel better about having spent so much money. You nailed it, John, it is about creativity. Anyone who can't see that is missing out on the very stuff of life.
I dunno, man. this is kinda...really boring. This drum machine is an incredible tool, capable of much more than what it has in this video been induced to do. And the kaoss pad does just about nothing. Personally, i have had no luck in manipulating my electribes output on the kp to end up with something that wasnt just plain irritating. I was kind of hoping someone else had. No such luck here...
can annyone help me? i have a kp3 and an ea1 mk2. can anyone help expand on how i can use the two together? for example using the kp3 to apply effects on top of my songs i have made using the ea1? midi? line in/out? please help!!! xxxx
Use a dual 1/4" to RCA lead. Can be bought on eBay and music stores pretty cheaply.
Connect the 1/4" leads to the Output (L + R) on the Ea1 and the RCA inputs to the Line input on your KP3. I don't actually have a KP3, but I think this is how it works. :)
Don't forget to get a MIDI cable too. Consult the manuals for both devices and do this: First, make sure both devices are on the same MIDI channel. I'd set the kp3 as the master clock (the kp3 tends to drift out of alignment less when it's the master) so connect the kp3 MIDI out to the EA MIDI in. Of course, also feed the EA 1/4" audio outs into the kp3 RCA ins with the cable JL Woods mentions.
i can't imagine how the hell can you play music using that kind of hardware. maybe it's because i have never had the chance to experiment with one of those things XD, pretty expensive in this side of the world :,(,
The ER-1 is a drum machine. Its not supposed or even remotely designed to be a TB-303 clone. If anything, its a TR-909 clone, but I use that as a loose comparison.
"This rig (ER-1 + KP3) is what someone called "poorman's Machinedrum UW""
who the fuck says that? thats what i hate about machinedrum elitists. they think a md makes them automatically good and validated as an electronic musician. bunch of bullshit.
it doesnt matter if its "cheap" gear or not. its about music creation and denkitribe you're awesome at that!
@ohsnapitzjohn I agree and I do have the MDUW.. I love the elektribes. They are fun and have a lofi sound that is just great. Plus they are cheap. The MD is something else entirely for me. Its a great controller and sophisticated particularly with the parameter locks and sequencing features. But sound wise they are kinda apples and oranges to me aiming for different stuff.
i have a kp3 now that my kp2 broke. i am not enjoying it as much as my kp2 :( im getting a kassilator next, then getting another kp2 once i have a couple more bucks.
Denkitribe, you're my hero :) I have an EMX-1 and a KP3, but I've yet to do anything as interesting as what you do with 'em... but you provide some good inspiration!
Goe bezig! Nice stuff!!

there's nothing cheap about this gear....
kaoss pad 3 costs like $300
im not so sure about er-1...im guessing it's part of the electribe production family so it must be pretty pricy

jesus..
does kp3 effect midi signals? or is it perhaps an AUDIO effect processor?
did you try just plugging it in and seeing what happened??
