The foam surroundings were damaged (read the description), that's why he destroyed them. Besides speakers with foam surroundings are cheap so I doubt that they were good. I hope he placed good speakers in those cabinets.

yeah foam rot is easily repairable but these things really weren't that great from the start Small voice coil, paper tweeter NO real crossover, compare them to the Boston Acoustics A60s I'm about to re-foam (and post videos on if Garret wants to watch he can!) those akai's compared to the Boston's are JUNK, akai made some good stuff like GX glass head tape decks but these speakers were very low end. btw my name is Garret too, not like it matters.

LOVE IT! Looked like 12" with puny 3⁄4" voice coils. There's way better woofers widely available now! (It's not like you're wall-socketing vintage Altecs or JBLs or other quality stuff.) And were those woofers just GLUED to the cabinets, judging by how easily you could rip them out? It'll be cool to see and hear them with decent woofers in them....
