Good job Terry! I met you briefly @ the WSM S.S. Grand Prix @ the Mohegan Sun last Jan. It was awesome to see you guys compete and I look forward to seeing you in this years WSM contest and in any future competitions you compete in...
holy shit terry your the man. what can deadlift 430kg now. if u worked on strength rather than speed for wsm i would bet u would have world record in deadlift. keep on working
Terry is an awesome strength athelete, but I think Mark Felix, and even more so Benni, and again more so Mr Andy Bolton may have a thing or two to say about that. Terry is improving year on year and did great at WSM last year, I look forward to seeing him compete and hope to meet him in person at some plfting events if he has the time to come watch.
You can. Of course you can. The problem is that al those people you're asking know very little about the sport. Go to the Marunde-Muscle forum and just check out the performances of the members (more than 200). Some people are just stronger. Terry has his size, his rugby, his stamina, and he is an easy-gainer and a hard-worker. You don't need more. Some people are just stronger, that's all.
It is also true that AAS are not tested and many if not most do take them, this is not just common in strongman but powerlifting too. Steriods are just another tool, they don;t lift it for you, they don't drag your ass back to the gym time upon time again. HGH is a new common one, really helps with recovery
But steroids do make it possible for most people to move beyond their potensial, don't forget that ;) But still, you need the right genes and the right focus and mentality.
but tobehonest as pressing goes, standing up and pressing, without the support of a bench is really hard! a 60kg feels more like a 75kg dumbell when its free-standing and not holding on to anythin, i dont know how u guys can manage reppin at that huge log like that, id probably clean it and press it for 1 then fall over!
ive spoken to one dude in the states who i rekon could out press mariusz. a guy called bud jefries, hes on the same team as brian siders, he shoulder presses 100kg dumbells man. and bottom squats over a 1000lbs. but he cant press dumbells on a flat like i can! lol he presses a 180lb on a flat for 3. ive pressed 180lb on a flat for 10!. wat u like with dumbell pressing?
Terry congratulations on bsm and the event you held in dartford earlier this year. I just had a glance at the groups for the worlds, great to see UK athletes in every group. Good luck!
i know your met-rex's britains strongest man, but is that IFSA??? im confused...apparently a dude called oli thompson is britains strongest man also....lol...
he seems like quite a beast, saw in do a few reps of 380kg deadlift in a video. and i think clean and press a 195kg log.. what is your deadlift in comparison to Mariusz u rekon? i think hes meant to be on a 450kg dead. but i dunno..i saw him fail to pull 410kg in a 2006 video..
well done for winning BSM 2007! but that mark felix since when is he english??? ive seen him on a wsm man a few years back, and he wasnt represnting england!
mark best at deadlift in the world, for strongman u mean or in powerliftin ??? how much you rekon he could pull of the floor in the gym??? and what is the best, like round 1200lbs??? my deadlift is ok but im pretty much the same age as kevin knee, and too see somone my age already out there, lol its not right! my parents hate me training and i just work out in my garage, but i bet kevin has full support and all the equipment. i think hes deadlifting round 860lbs at the moment.
can manage 5 reps of 300kg without straps, reverse grip but it makes me think, your pulling 70kg+ more than i can. how shit wud i be on bsm lol. wats the standard in comparison to wsm??? and some of the rules that make the difference between a rep and not a rep in my opinon is fuckin stupid, like just becos u dont hold onto the bar as its going down is a no lift...i really wudnt stand for that lol.
5 reps with 300 is pretty decent!! There's not alot of real difference, there was no-way on earth that was only 315 top end!! In 2005 WSM we used the same equipment and I did the next lift up, my deadlift is better by 50kg now. I would say the standard is pretty comparable!! Mark is probably the best at that event in the World!! I would be pretty decent on a deadlift at WSM
just been watchin on BSM, what makes the real difference between the deadlift there and deadlifting in the gym??? isit that u have to do the reps without a rest, or that through the other events the back/hams are already ripped??? becos its goes upto 315kg and here you are doing 370kg!
Very well done!

Oli won BSM last year!! he is injured this year!! he's very strong and I'm sure he'll be back competing next year!!
I would be suprised if he can do that much!! but I wouldn't be suprised if he could do around 420
